Well put together video on what started a great franchise. I never get tired of hearing about Alien and how beloved the movie and people who made it still are.
I love these sorts of analysis videos esp of my favorite movies. And being lucky enough to have seen in theater in 1979, thanks to my school friend "You gotta see this!" type of reaction to it. And I want to emphasize how vastly different Alien was from all the movies that came before it during the uninspired '70's. Recall maybe 90% of movies pre-1980 were long, slow, full of inexpensive-to-shoot dialogue, boring filler and "the plot" - and "Alien" was as different from those films as chalk and cheese. As a result, for the first viewing I was a bit uncomfortable with the much faster pace and complete absence of filler so at several points I was unable to fully process story events as they happened. Being used to the slow pace of story-telling of the times, a movie like "Alien", where every single scene is significant, and needs to be put in context almost right away, took a little getting used to, and it wasn't until the 3rd viewing that I really was able to take all of it in.
One thing I really liked with Alien/s and the original SW trilogy is the unkempt nature of the main protagonists and the well-used look of the spacecraft.
As an 80s kid loved the aliens movie saw it first saw this second but loved it just as much. Most of this franchise has progressed well compared to other franchises

When I was a kid, the commercials/trailers for this movie when it was to be shown on HBO, scared the sh*t out of me! Since then, it’s been one of my favorite movies, and i always watch it before or on Halloween. There are so many documentaries on this as well. The video game, ‘Alien: Isolation’ is the only game that truly captured the horror and was the only game that came close to giving me a heart attack. Alien showed a very believable sci-fi universe, with ‘space truckers’ and dirty tech, which is a nice contrast to the clean sterility of Star Trek.
37:48 That boy is so much braver than I was at that age, when I learned about the Alien franchise I had so many nightmares about the xenomorph, I couldn't bring myself to actually watch the film until my very late teens and I absolutely loved it, wish I'd watched it sooner. Everything about it still holds up brilliantly today.
Alien (1979) is my favorite horror movie of all time and the original Xenomorph is my favorite design of the franchise. Ridley Scott did the impossible and he nailed it back in 1979.
I remember when I saw this I was about 7. At a birthday party, I went to use the bathroom right after the Alien popped out of the stomach. The light switch was outside. Needless to say, somebody turned off the light while I was in there and it scared the crap out of me! 😂
Many of the novels talk about how the eggs have a psychic effect; it attracts potential targets and makes them curious and relaxed: shoving their face into the opening egg isn't entirely the victims fault for being reckless 😮😅
After seeing Romulus, I’m even more fascinated with the set and sound design of the original movies. It looks like they’re in a world where a lot of tech stopped developing in the 1970’s but somehow it’s the 2100s and they’re light years from earth. Makes for such a unique world, something that I sorely missed in the prequels
I just live how enclosed and trapped we all feel watching this film because there's nowhere to run and it just makes it that much better! And the fact that Semiotic standard was created for this and is now used in many different sci fi films now
Parker to Kane: Anyone ever tell you you look dead? Oooooo foreshadowing... and I guess at least Kane gets him back, (lol) y’know, with his son, “Kane’s son” as Ash calls the Xenomorph..
I know how important Aliens was to you during that time in your life. So, it’s great to see you do the first one, Alien. Great job as always. Keep up the outstanding work!
Alien is that movie you saw as a kid that gave you nightmares for years, only to later in life become your favorite film. Almost like you triumph over your own fears and learn to admire the beast.
I think it's funny that John Hurt not only had a chestburster erupt out of him in "Alien, but in "Spaceballs", with him saying, "Oh no...not again..." XD That said, RIP, John Hurt.
I don't just know their names, I know the characters. I care about them. Which makes the tension palatable and their deaths all the more painful. That's some great writing and acting. This was my issue with the newer movies. I just didn't care what happened to most of them.
Seeing this movie for the first time (I saw it just before Aliens came out), is one of my favorite childhood memories. It was and still is amazing. I got to see the alternate cut on the big screen too! It went off the rails with resurrection to me. Prometheus is a cool movie and could have been a great standalone film to explain it all as a prequel...
It's a shame they don't make films with this kind of quality and originality anymore. Movies like this are like finding a diamond buried in the desert these days
In my opinion The Queen Alien is and always will be the most intimidating, yet majestic design of the AvP universe. The scene were Ripley and Us as the Audience first see The Queen Alien is Bad Ass Awesome.
Great analysis of a great movie. One small correction. You said at the beginning of the movie it shows the massive spaceship Nostromo. That's the refinery the Nostromo is towing. The Nostromo is a much smaller ship they take down to the surface of the planet.
My father took to me to see this when I was four years old. To say that it was traumatic is an understatement. I can remember the chest burster scene. But, I have been obsessed with all things Alien ever since.
I can’t watch the first chest burster scene without thinking about it donning a top hat and cane and performing a rendition of Hello Ma Baby across the diner counter like in Spaceballs. “Check please” 😆🤣
How the alien gets Dallas in the novel is more creepy imo. In the novel it makes a hole under a walkway and slowly sneaks it's hand up and yanks Dallas to it. he thinks he's safe because he's in a large room in the middle of the walkway and far from either entrance to the room but it's right below him...Fucking freaky.
As a kid i discovered my love for horror when i saw the balrog from lord of the rings (it was genuinely terrifying to 4 year old me) and 5 years later my dad let me watch this. Easily one of my favorite movies of all time, and my first exposure to cosmic horror and dread.

Ah yes, a masterpiece of the ages with a saga quaddrillogy that's hit or miss.😊 And an unfortunate prequel series that the master himself has butchered. 😢
It's the unfortunate Hollywood story. They take a risk on a non-standard script, a classic is created, it makes money and attains cultural status. All the execs see is the 💰💰💰. They fundamentally miss the artistic reasons it works and churn out inferior work
Ridley Scott was forced by the studio to bridge Prometheus and the aliens. Prometheus is a good movie and Ridley wanted it to be 100% about the engineers. Covenant is the result of people wanting more aliens and is also a fun movie I can enjoy
Both Prometheus and Covenant are underrated and maligned for the wrong reasons. Even with the studio interference pushing Covenant in a direction Ridley wasn't originally intent on.

The year I was born lol!
😭 I can't wait for all these October spooky lore videos
I love these reviews. Alien has to be among the top 5 SF movies of all time.
The perfect sci-fi motion picture that gave us the perfect (and now highly iconic) sci-fi creature ever seen.
And the fact that Semiotic standard was created for this and is now used in many different sci fi films now
The vid I’ve been waiting for you to do for years, I’m here for it💯
Love the introduction and explanation of this masterpiece. Especially the in-depth look of the characters and how plausible they were.
I am playing Alien Isolation Crew Expandable and Lone Survivor DLCs this Halloween...
Nearly a hour - fantastic video 🫶
Parker to Kane: Anyone ever tell you you look dead?
Oooooo foreshadowing... and I guess at least Kane gets him back, (lol) y’know, with his son, “Kane’s son” as Ash calls the Xenomorph..
A wonderful start to my weekend Niyat, thank you 👌
You are welcome!
I know how important Aliens was to you during that time in your life. So, it’s great to see you do the first one, Alien. Great job as always. Keep up the outstanding work!
Sigourney Weaver's acting prowess is simply unmatched. Jaw dropping performance.
Alien is that movie you saw as a kid that gave you nightmares for years, only to later in life become your favorite film. Almost like you triumph over your own fears and learn to admire the beast.
I think it's funny that John Hurt not only had a chestburster erupt out of him in "Alien, but in "Spaceballs", with him saying, "Oh no...not again..." XD
That said, RIP, John Hurt.
he played the War Doctor too.
@@randallbesch2424 And the title character of Jim Henson's "The Storyteller".
I don't just know their names, I know the characters. I care about them. Which makes the tension palatable and their deaths all the more painful. That's some great writing and acting.
This was my issue with the newer movies. I just didn't care what happened to most of them.
I have the DVD and rewatched it many times. That, and John Carpenter's "The Thing" are masterpieces of the art of movie making.
I just wanted to say your writing is beautiful. Amazing work
This boutta be lit 🎉
It's a shame they don't make films with this kind of quality and originality anymore. Movies like this are like finding a diamond buried in the desert these days
Perfect video on this iconic/classic sci fi horror movie that has stood the test of time.
In my opinion The Queen Alien is and always will be the most intimidating, yet majestic design of the AvP universe.
The scene were Ripley and Us as the Audience first see The Queen Alien is Bad Ass Awesome.
Probably why the Queen is a skin for the Xenomorph in Dead by Daylight.
Niyat uploads a ALIEN video *
ALIEN is back in the menu boys !!
That was a brilliant encapsulation of what Alien is about!
Well done mate. Another class video.
Excellent video! You really knocked it out of the park.
Thankyou
Great analysis of a great movie.
One small correction. You said at the beginning of the movie it shows the massive spaceship Nostromo. That's the refinery the Nostromo is towing. The Nostromo is a much smaller ship they take down to the surface of the planet.
This is one of MY favorite franchises too. ‘Freakin love Alien.
My father took to me to see this when I was four years old. To say that it was traumatic is an understatement. I can remember the chest burster scene. But, I have been obsessed with all things Alien ever since.
All of the actors in this movie were amazing! This movie is a masterpiece. Love this and the second movie.
you know you've enjoyed a film review when you spend most of it going..oh yeah..Great job!
Wow, what a great review of this film. The best I’ve seen.
Wonderful writing on this video script!
I can’t watch the first chest burster scene without thinking about it donning a top hat and cane and performing a rendition of Hello Ma Baby across the diner counter like in Spaceballs. “Check please” 😆🤣
My all time fav. Thanks for posting chief ❤
kid at 37:51 is a legend of the 80's and a winner on life lol
How the alien gets Dallas in the novel is more creepy imo. In the novel it makes a hole under a walkway and slowly sneaks it's hand up and yanks Dallas to it. he thinks he's safe because he's in a large room in the middle of the walkway and far from either entrance to the room but it's right below him...Fucking freaky.
i remember watching your videos on alien and prometheus comics years ago
Most realistic part of the movie: Coroporations see the most deadly orgasm known to man kind and think "So How can we profit off this?"
Your videos will never cease to entertain me.
As a kid i discovered my love for horror when i saw the balrog from lord of the rings (it was genuinely terrifying to 4 year old me) and 5 years later my dad let me watch this. Easily one of my favorite movies of all time, and my first exposure to cosmic horror and dread.
9:16 I gotta watch this now to kick off oct! I remember kid me being like "He should be good tho, he has a helmet on!...Ohhh, it didnt matter at all, fuuuuuu. Its like, perfect 👀"
Our favorite Movie.... thank you Niyat 🤗
Great video as always!! Please do the Aliens from No One Will Save You!!!
Great Video. Thanks for so much artistic inspiration🎉
Ripley: How long for repairs?
Brett: Seventeen hours.
Parker: At least twenty-five hours.
Scotty: Aye, that's the ticket lad!
Every time I see the scene of the engineers ship I think back to the “Alien Trilogy” on the PS1 back in the 90s. I loved that game. Anyone else have fond memories of it?
What ? There is an alien trilogy game? Okay I need to get it asap!
@@filmcomicsexplained you haven’t played it? Dude, as an “Alien” fan you need to. “Aliens” is my favorite movie and when this game came out me and my friends played it nonstop. I’m sure there are videos on RUclips of the story which is unique to the game
Love your channel. :-) thank you for these videos.
Ah yes, a masterpiece of the ages with a saga quaddrillogy that's hit or miss.😊
And an unfortunate prequel series that the master himself has butchered.
@@maggs131Prometheus is absolutely not a good movie lmao
@dogevanzandt2889 what a great argument. You win I guess
Both Prometheus and Covenant are underrated and maligned for the wrong reasons. Even with the studio interference pushing Covenant in a direction Ridley wasn't originally intent on.
