This movie is so underrated. It’s 100% great from story to acting to special effects.
Underrated movie, the concept of a world run by vampires is pretty amazing
Great concept and terrific execution!
amazing but proves that such thing can not exists
@@omegarugal9283 it could if the vampires were smarter then those in the film.
@@williamadkins4133 that happens when corporations take such decitions
@@omegarugal9283 it only shows that that specific universe couldn’t exist long term as writtena.
More logically, the Vamps should have also lost our “morality” towards genetically modifying & breeding humans into a better food source, or abusing certain ones for “delicacies”, like we do Geese for Foie Gras.
Say… only breeding taller thinner people, who naturally have more marrow per/kg to replenish their blood faster. A fact which makes those body types more efficient blood donors today.
Or, flat out treating us like chattel property with our current cattle farming practices but for blood instead of milk. Like drugs&hormones to make women’s bodies believe they are pregnant so their bodies are always in the “building a person” loop for more efficient blood production. Genetically modifying other animals like Pigs, Monkeys, and apes to be human-animal hybrids for “supplemental blood production.”
One of my fav movies no one talks about. Always find myself going back for a watch every few years.
It came out during the twilight craze…it was a better vampire movie obviously
Same. Great concept.
I remember watching this with my Dad way back when
Thanks for covering this
Anytime Tanner!
"There's lots of Sun. There's not a lot of shades"
And they travelled at night.
I love daybreakers, most people don’t like it but I enjoyed this film. I always wondered if Vampires taken over and what the outcome would be. It gives the reasons why they want to keep their numbers few so there is plenty of food for generations.
Post-apocalyptic world with vampires, grab me a popcorn coz I am in
The most mind blowing thing about Daybreakers is that they are drinking coffee.
Blooduccino
They drink blood spiked coffee , also they still smoke
I’ve always appreciated your stance on “exploring” rather than explaining
If the vampires had a natural instincts to drink blood, why didn't the main character succumb to the urge ?
Is it because his will was strong enough ?
Things I loved in this movie:
1. A civilized vampire society
2. Scarcity of blood makes a vampire monstrous
3. There is a vampire who sympathizes with humans
4. A choice to be a vampire
5. A vampire's suicide is his rebirth as a human
6. A rebirthed human is a cure to vampirism
Awesome, awesome movie!
Daybreakers is an Awesome Vampire Movie.
Predestination is pretty cool too
such an underrated vampire film. I always believed this film could easily exist in the "BLADE" universe!
Ethan Hawke's best movie, this wouldn't have happened without him. I've done World of Darkness campaigns set in this universe (post ending obviously) and it's dope for adding difficulty to a system where a "power fantasy" just happens.
Very original idea, with Rookie Hoyt being himself (Helping others) and Wilem Defoe giving a thespian performance 🎭
This film was always one of my favorite sleepers! Great premise, well thought out world building and acting.
Sam Neal makes for an excellent antagonist.😈
It’s amazing seeing FCE go from a couple thousand subs to almost one mil. I remember I started watching the 28 days later comics explained and stayed ever since
This movie is such a gem and probably the best story for vampires since Dracula the book.
I love how the guy just so happened to aim for the heart everytime
Oh you haven't done this yet? Could've sworn I've heard you narrate this movie before.. this one is quite interesting, vampirism with a very modern take
yeah i remembered he done this before. This is just the same as before, but with more bgm
This film blew my mind back in the day. I really enjoyed it.
My favourite part of this is seeing Brisbane landmarks in a film.
9:07 is a shot of Adelaide Street, right between ANZAC and Post Office Square
My friend from film school worked on the production of this film and got to keep the red couch they used in one of the shots!
@@filmcomicsexplained Oh damn, are you a Brisbanite?
I assumed you were just from Melbourne or something
Lol at 4:00 its chook fowler from underbelly tale of 2 cities haha
Brisbane bois waddup
I LOVE daybreakers. So many people are obsessed with twilight, thinking THAT'S what vampires are. Hell no. Dracula untold, Nosferatu, Day breakers, the underworld series, Blade, Blood red sky; THOSE are real vampire movies. THOSE are vampires.
That demonic vampire that broke into his house scared the hell out of me
Dude you absolutely CRUSH these. I sincerely enjoyed your Predator Series as well.
Thank you :)
Thanks for covering this movie. I remembered watching this with my twin brother years ago, but I can't remembered what's the title lol
Also, I've binge-watching your videos for this past few days, if you haven't done it, may I suggest you to explaining The Dreamcatcher (2003) or Evolution (2001) in the future? Thanks again. :)
You're very welcome! And yes they are on the to-do list :)
The Nosferatu *Really* *Really* Should have thought waaay earlier about the possible consequences of turning %90 of the entire human population thus literally all the blood supplies! Althought in the movie it is *appearent* that Vampires are well capable of supllied by Animal Blood so I havent understood why their obsession on human blood when they face with something worse than extinction literal devolution into mutated abominations
People who were turned did so willingly. Would YOU rather be turned into a vampire or a human to be harvested?
Plus your basically immortal. Why be cattle when you can be a god among cows.
I think human blood is the most susitainable for them bc they used to be human and drinking human blood keeps them from de-evoloving. And in this vampires ARE NOT immortal. They can live longer IF they drink human blood but at most theyre immune to human diseases. If they dont have it they start to de-evolve into sub vampires which become more bat like. Their obessions probably stems from their very human greed and very unhuman lack of care for the people theyd need to get more from. Its this mentality that theyre invincible and immortal that put them in this spot
Look how we used carbon fuels
@@Celeste-jh2lj de-evolve = devolve
This dudes voice is so calming for me
Daybreakers was a film that I was happy to get the moment that I could after it came out. The premise was great, although the ending was kinda lackluster and felt forced without any real conclusion to besides "heroes drive away in the sunlight." It's great to see good scifi and horror filmmakers create a great world to go along with their premise.
My friend recommended this movie to me right after it went to home markets as I had just moved and missed out on seeing it in the theaters. I don't remember much about how well it did at the time but it was a great movie and I was impressed. Glad to see you covering it.
I absolutely LOVE this movie! One of my all time favorites! I also love Vanishing on 7th Street, I'd love to see a recap and explanation for that one too!
You're OG Daybreakers video got me to watch this movie and now its one of my favorite vampire films
Within the 1st minute i was like "OMG that's a great concept " another 1 of those moments that I'm referenced a good movie from FilmComicsExplained 👌👌👌
Thing is, there would still be massive famine and starvation. Given that there would be no more farming and livestock infrastructure after the vamps took over.
I remember seeing this movie with the homie all faded on some old school oxys. The scene with the brothers and when that thing jumps on the roof always stuck with me. Very good scary scene, Jake like always acted the hell out of it.
Underated movie that doesn't get spoken about much.
i just watched this movie a few days ago, cool concepts when it comes to vampires, finally something new... if can see past the small plotholes...
One of my all time favorites.
Another hidden gem. Will have to keep my eye out for this. :-)
How have I never heard of this? I’m going to watch this today
This was a very interesting movie idea I don’t think it was the best movie but it is so unique because I have never see. Anything like it
Sam neal as a vampire? Willem dafoe as kinda van helsing? Certified hood classic ...
If there can be a zombie virus why not a vampire virus.
There isn't a zombie virus though
@9:24
The slow motion of this scene was really great
I like that they put effort into molding the design of the world around the vampires instead of just going with a “everything is the same but they do stuff at night” approach. While I haven’t seen the movie, I assume there had to have been a time period where vampires and humans worked in the same areas, and one could not always be just moved to the night shift. Hospitals had to stay open 24/7. Again, haven’t seen it, so feel free to correct me, but I assume immortality doesn’t prevent non-sun related injuries. And the vampires here appear to act mostly like humans, and humans don’t just stay in our houses when the sun is down. Really shows the work put in here.
Could you do a video about the Vampires from Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. I think it's cool how they could turn invisible. There's a lot of vampire lore that most movies leave out to make something Supernatural "believeable."
Day breakers turned out to be way better than I thought it would be
That outro music fire af
I thought this movie was going to be corny as hell but it was a great new take on Vampires. Sam Neal was cold! Pun intended
I forgot Sam Neill was in this movie! I'm sensing a connection between Neill and horror films.
He is one of our best actors in hollywood. He doesnt normally play the had guy, he does it well.
This was indeed a cool film. Often wondered if they would ever make a prequel to it, or a sequel follow up. 🤔
I don’t know if your making more content or I’m coming across It more again but keep it up!
I think the thing massively underplayed is how scarce food would be in this world.
About Time you covered this
I was young when I sneaked up on my Dad who was Watching this
Totally love the concept of a virus that turns one man into a vampire
SO underrated
Daybreakers was an excellent movie with a great cast that unfortunately didn’t get the recognition it deserved. I mean, Sam Neil, Willem Dafoe and Ethan Hawke? Coupled with a great storyline? Such a shame.
Saw this in theaters and loved it. Watched a few weeks ago with my kids.
Awesome movie but I can't remember if they explained why they couldn't drink animal blood.
please do unbreakable, its a fantastic movie with beautiful music
I like the science approach the movie took with the vampires and humanizing their blood drinking as normal but why do they suddenly explode like grenades instead of burning normally when light is introduced.
another great video!
fresh
Absolutely awesome video!
Sorry if I'm mistaken, but I could have sworn you had already done a video on Daybreakers years ago.
Yes hey
Still a great story and movie
underrated af movie
I always wanted some kind of connection between this movie and the original Blade trilogy or at least an easter egg
Huh. I passed this one back in the day cuz the trailer looked *awful* but you've made this look honestly fascinating 🤨 I'm quite intrigued.
0:55 i LOVE UNDEAD!!!
Where does he keep that extra gun?
Another among many movies that are underrated
One of my top favorite vampire movies. Love Hawke & Dafoe in it 👍
This movie doesn't get the respect it deserves. Great twist on Vampire culture
It is very interesting to think about. If you had the choice, to join what will soon be the majority of society in immortality and vampirism but also know that eventually, there won’t be enough blood to go around or to retain what’s left of your humanity and live, along side the light but also be hunted for the rest of your life. It’s an extremely difficult decision that I can’t help but think: what would I do in that situation?
Underrated movie.
Omg I love this movie. Great choice as always 🤙🏻 🍿 Cheers
This is my favorite vampire movie and it's underrated in my opinion.
One of my top 5 films
OK, so this will be incongruous, but the ads I got in this, just after we hear that human rights were being ignored by vampires farming them for blood, is first an ad for making Minestrone soup ( which I believe is a vegetable-no-meat dish), followed by one for a treatment for bleeding gums. Is RUclips trying to tell me something?
Just....wow.
Oh my God...I'm so early. I love this movie
I own this movie. It's such a great movie and I wish they would have made a sequel!!👍👍👍👍
That's funny just yesterday I was searching up Daybreakers.
This a really good movie.
I love how the vampires have great gothic fashion sense. Wonder if that’s something just in the blood 🩸
If only they’d set the movie one year further.
I know this doesn't follow the usual movies that you cover but would you please cover Mr Brooks for me? Thanks!
Yaaaaaaa boiiiii
Have you done a breakdown of Jim Carrys' Number 23
Are you remaking old videos or am I going crazy? Either way I’m not complaining I enjoy watching your videos!
This and predestination are the 2 Ethan Hawk movies I push people to see.
This is one of my favorite movies!!
They did this in a show called true blood on HBO
did this movie got a sequel? i think there was more to tell here, material for at least 3 movies
I want a daybreakers sequel
Love daybreakers movie
Cool vampire movie and analysis.
Thanks Damian! It’s a great film
@@filmcomicsexplained your welcome you should do updates on the boys !
It's like any lowkey scifi that picked Ethan Hawk alway have something interesting.
Anyone know the outro song that's used at the end? It's too good.
