You would have to dump the solution water into something, fill it with plan water, clean the hose, then put the solution water back into the machine. Kind of a pain to do that so I just use the solution water. I do like the machine, it has good suction.

@@ShiftedReality90 You are welcome. I leave the water/solution in the machine. You could pour it out into another container. You use so little of the solution compared to the amount of water. I have found that if your carpet has been shampooed in the past, some of that shampoo/solution has remained in the carpet so what I do is just spray the stained areas with a carpet stain remover then use water ONLY in the machine. Otherwise you are just putting more shampoo/solution into the carpet. I hope this is clear and useful info.

I have one of these and I really love it except I do not use the solutions that Shark recommends. They work nicely at first but within a couple of days the carpet is all crunchy and sticky. I developed my own method of using the cleaner which is to use the big tank with only pure distilled water. That way it's already to be used as rinse as well as cleaning. The little blue tank is for my detergent, I like Hoover Pet mixed with 12% hydrogen peroxide. For pet urine, I also pre-treat by spritzing the carpet first with pure 12% hydrogen peroxide. I pull the blue tank off after I'm finished cleaning so that I'm ready to rinse with the big tank. Anyway, I have to push the attachments quite hard to get them to suck up water and they only suck up water when pushing them forward. It actually makes it quite tedious to use. Every carpet cleaner I've ever had in the past sucked up the water when pulling back, like in your video. This one only seems to suck up water when pushing forward, and one really has to really put a lot of pressure on the nozzle/ attachments to make them work well. I need to mention that the newer units what do have different nozzle attachments. You wouldn't notice it unless you are looking at them up close, as they look exactly the same from a distance, but they are different. It does do a great job of cleaning if one has the patience but I can't help but wonder if I got a bad unit or something. It seems to take quite a lot of work to get the water back out of the carpet. What is your input?
@@csharpe5787 When I pull back on the pickup nozzle it does NOT pick up adequately at all. It picks up well going forward ONLY. ALL of the nozzles effected the same. I ordered a replacement unit from Amazon and the same issue. My guess is that perhaps I'm an extremely persnickety perfectionist as everyone else seems quite happy. Picking up in reverse works beautifully.
@Moomin559 If you take the tanks off and stand them upside down you can leave the solution in them until your next use. The object is to make sure that moisture is not left in the actual cleaning unit/system.

The hose might need to be primed. It’s a fairly common issue with these portable carpet cleaners. I don’t have a tutorial for the Shark but here’s another one for a similar brand. Do each of the attachment heads come apart? The "glass" or clear part in a lot of these is glued on and i really dislike not being able to clean the yuck out of those heads

Sorry about that. Usually people complain that I go to slow or take too long. You can select a slower playback speed on RUclips. Tap the setting wheel in the top right corner of the video. It’s the second option down and you can pick a slower playback speed. I hope that helps and happy cleaning!!

My dirty tank didn’t work at first either, but started working by the time I was done cleaning my sectional couch yesterday. Used on another couch today and it worked fine. I seated and reseated both tanks yesterday to make sure they were tight and in place, don’t know if that helped or not, but did start working after.

How do you find the extraction? Bought a VAX and it picks up less than 20% of what you’ve put down, will be returning. Just bought the Shark.
I think it’s good! I haven’t had any issues with the spots I’ve cleaned so far.
