Viv was exquisite and the west Indies team at this time was copacetic. Between Clive and viv period as head honcho west indies cricket ruled the world by a country mile.
Sorry Sachin, but this man is the greatest Test batsman since Don Bradman & the greatest ODI player of all-time. Viv Richards as a batsman & fielder, was in a different universe to all others. He was a collosus.
Hello Mr. Alexander, you seem to be a very humble and we'll mannered person. I immensely liked the way you framed your comment, which, while mentioning your personal favourite, depicts your equal respect for the G.O.A.T. also. So let me just say that we agree to disagree. 👍
@@ankursarmah5434 Everyone has a different opinion & is certainly entitled to. I've seen them all over the last 50 years. Bats, pitches, outfields & limited short pitched bowling, have askewed Tests well into the batsmen's favour. Viv would be awesome in this era, in all 3 forms. The best in all of them. He never batted for averages, if he did he'd own every record in the book. He played to win matches asap. Tendulkar fantastic, but Viv dominated matches & on every tier he played on. World Cup matches, average well into the 60's. In Tests, his average exceeded 62 & 63 twice. In ODI, he was in a different Solar System. At his peak, he averaged 54 against Australia, 60 against several countries & near mid 50's career average, striking at over 90, in an era, other batsmen struggled to get into the mid 60's. Viv retired with the most 6's in Tests. His bat was a touch bat, not a powerpacked monster of nowadays. Viv features in so many individual records, it's beyond belief. He is no. 1 in history for consecutive 50's in all forms (12), 2nd for most Centuries in a Calendar Year (7). No. 1 fastest to 10,000 International Runs by Innings (around 20 Innings faster than No. 2). In ODI, No. 1 for highest % of Team Runs scored in an innings (nearly 70%). No. 1 highest score by Batting Position in ODI. No. 1 highest ODI last wkt partnership (106*). At the time, the fast Test Century, 100* off 56 balls (110* off 58). At the time, the most Test runs in a Calendar Year, 1,710 runs @ 90, SR 73. Younis Khan broke it, but playing on the Subcontinent. Viv did it in England & Australia, facing Lillee & Thomson. Viv never wore a helmet & played in an era of unlimited short pitched bowling. He's the greatest.
@tommy lee No Lara would not be above Viv, Bradman nor Tendulkar. And Sobers would be 6. Lara would be in my Second best test 11 and he and Ponting certainly exceptional players since 1990
Never seen Vivian Richards expressing his joy this much
The man's aura was just out of this world.
Greatest cricketer ever
Great batsman Great dance
I Was watching that live with my family. Great finish.
