instructions for connecting a general device to an iPhone using a jack-to-Lightning adapter: 1. Ensure the device's jack is disconnected from the adapter. 2. Insert the adapter into your iPhone's Lightning port. 3. Navigate to your iPhone's Bluetooth settings and search for the adapter's device name. 4. If there are multiple devices listed, use the "Forget Device" option to remove any unnecessary devices, making it easier to locate and identify the correct adapter name(depending on the adapter manufacturer it will have different names). 5. If the adapter fails to connect initially, remove and reinsert it (in my experience, it connected on the second attempt). 5. Once the adapter shows as connected in the Bluetooth settings, insert the device's jack into the adapter. 6. The good news is that from this point on, the adapter should connect automatically without needing to be inserted first without the jack device attached. so you won't need to go through the previous steps (unless you disconnect the device from the Bluetooth settings)
After getting part of a headphone piece stuck in the headphone jack of my iPhone 6 (and finally getting it out) I decided that the adapter is a less worrisome way to play music in my car. But I wasn't sure if this adapter could be used with an auxiliary chord. Thanks for giving me the exact answer I needed!
I have tried both of those adapters on my iPhone XR. I get and annoying intermittent static buzz when connected to my earbuds when moving in the car and at the gym depending on where I am in the building. I’m getting some wireless buds. Never had that problem with the older Gen IPhone.
Yeah I’m trying to find out why this is?! I bought a new wire and if it gets knocked the audio will cut out and switch to iPhone speakers. I have to unplug and plug the wire back in but that sometimes doesn’t work.
I have all the different types a dongle’s and none of them kept working. They work for a couple weeks then they stopped no explanation. I had an iPhone 6 with touchscreen disease. Apple refused to fix it even though they admitted it was a design flaw. My next phone will be a galaxy after had it with Apple
Same here. In 2007 I bought a used 2002 Hyundai Accent 2 door. I eventually switched out the stereo with an aftermarket one that allowed me to hook up my iPod and later my iPhone through a USB cable that charge the phone and played music off the phone. Worked great for over a decade. When I got a new iPhone in 2015, I had to switch from 30 pin to the lightning connector, it was just a simple matter of going to the store and buying an extra charging cable that I left in my car all the time. Two months ago, I bought a 2006 Nissan Titan because my wife and I have a baby at home and it was a total pain getting the baby in the backseat of a 2 door car, my uncle wanted to sell the pickup and we do a lot of hauling with the truck. It didn’t have a USB port that connected to the radio, but it did have an AUX port. I figured easy enough fix, just buy the dongle that lets me hook in to the charger and AUX at the same time. A little too much static interference for my taste but it worked and I figured some day I’d get a better stereo. Less than 2 months in and the stupid dongle quit working. Tried my iPad and the same damned thing, it didn’t work. So tomorrow I’m getting a new stereo installed that lets me connect right to the stereo with USB. Also splurging a bit and getting a backup cam too. I figure might as well go all in on something really nice and fancy.
Keenan Jones I have the same problem. The ones on Amazon that have both 3.5mm and lightning port to a lightning port has shifty ass audio quality. It cuts out and I hear static...I would rather listen to radio quality sound. I do not know if there is an adapter that has better sound quality and it’s built like complete garbage. I noticed he had another video with one that looked much higher quality I may go test it out. My problem is that I own a 2015 bmw 3 series and i can’t seem to connect my iPhone to the car. I probably need to tinker with it more since I know BMW has supported iPhone in the long run.
Late to the show but you get a usb to 3.5 adapter with bluetooth ... Plug in the usb, plug the 3.5 into the radio then connect your phone to the Bluetooth wireless on the adapter. About $5.00 US.
Thanks for the video - do you know if this adapter works for any car audio system? I would think so, but I've read some weird reviews that say the adapter is not always reliable. However, I would think that the adapter would work for at least just music.
bought new ones because the ones that came with the phone stopped working. 3 months later and these ones aren’t working either.. they aren’t broken and the headphone jack is clean, i don’t get it.
Hey i have a problem when I connect my phone through aux able using a headphone dongle in my car it doesn't record the audio when i record vids, any solutions?( im on android)
Cold yeah I literally had mine for like a week and now it makes like a plug in noise when I play my music and nothing else happens and when I move it, it makes this irritating sound
The fundamental problem is that the headphone port is NOT a headphone port. It is an Audio port. Apple are very technically dumb to call an industry standard audio connection ‘archaic’. The 3.5mm audio jack is and will be an Audio Industry standard for at least another 50 years(probably 200 or more) because it cannot be bettered. It and the 1/4 inch jack are here to stay. 99.99 percent of all electric guitars have a 1/4 inch jack and there are guitar amp simulators which plug into that jack and have 3.5 mini jack connections to other devices. All my audio equipment has these jack sockets. As does my car (in 2022) and my handheld audio recorder players and my Hi-Fi. My portable mini amp has the 3.5 socket also. I even use my iPhone as a stereo audio signal test generator. Every piece of audio equipment from home entertainment, automotive, musical and electronic has these jack sockets and will do for at least until everyone at Apple have died of old age. Before Apple removed the 3.5 port they should have consulted the Audio Industry. The mistakes people are making is to call an Audio Jack Socket a ‘Headphone Socket’ and to call computers phones. Our iPhones are computers not phones. These may seem innocent mistakes but being technically wrong leads to stupid decisions. Example if a car has a built in phone then it is a phone not a car so you don’t need a driving licence to drive it. Does that make perfect sense? But who am I to comment I only spent my life working with Audio, Electronics and Computers.!
The problem with Apple is that if it generates them money, the technological aspect is secondary. Apple isn't a tech company, rather a marketing company.
Why in the hell, someone would buy a phone, with no headphone jack?! I'm OK with low quality music and it's true that few people like HQ 24bit music. But if you want quality in the music/sound department... Apple is not there. Their phone cameras are great, but their compressed sound that breaks ears... Should be avoided, at all cost! All studies shows a big drop of sound perceived by the ears with compressed sound.
Yeah no that little chord at the end for the tv is $90 the criminals… and THATS why they changed all phone to just the lightning and took away the jack.. thieves
