I’m a geordie and I hope you know how much we loved yous. My nanna who didn’t have a clue what yous were saying got me into yous along with Allan and Forster! Thank you nana for introducing me to these amazing artists. One may be gone but the other is still here. Sending love xx
Back in 1984 when Newcastle played Chelsea in division 2 at half time a Chas and Dave song got played, I thought it was a funny gesture and the visiting Chelsea fans lapped it up
Never got to see this..... My missus and I were lucky enough to see Chas n Dave on their last tour before he got ill....they rocked the Crewe Lyceum.....sadly it was not only the last time we would get to see Chas n Dave but my missus passed away at the beginning of 2018 and so It was also the last concert we went to together. Ain't no pleasing you had me to tears as you can imagine....So many memories. 💔
RIP 😇😇😇 Chas Hodges . I really miss their music. It really made me laugh when ever I heard them sing, their type of music really cheered me up whenever I was feeling down.
Probably more musical talent in their little fingers than most ‘pop’ musicians today. If I feel a bit ‘low’……..5 mins of Chas & Dave (and Mick)……sorted !
Great Band - great memories. I played in a Group in the early sixties at fabulous long since gone venues such as The Bridge House E16, Dukes Head E6, Greyhound-Seven Kings, Royal Oak-Goodmayes, Roundhouse-Barking, Church Elm-Dagenham (where I seem to recall, Jimmy Page had a valued Gibson stolen), Double Six-Basildon etc etc . Thanks, Chas, Dave, Albert, Joe etc for keeping us all going.
so glad I found this, so much talent all together on one stage, brilliant tribute to a great musician R I P Chas, you were unique , love all your songs, I was brought up singing all the old tunes sitting outside the pub waiting for mum and dad with my bottle of pop and packet of crisps!!!!! this is real music, I'm so proud to be a child of the 60's, keep on rocking up there Chas.
I grew up listening to Chas n Dave, whenever I listen too em it reminds me of the good times when grandparents where still about 😢Proppa music for Proppa people.....RIP Sir Chas 🙏🏻
I saw Chas and Dave at the Starlight Rooms in Enfield must have been the eighties loved them ever since. What a fabulous line up of talent to send the great man off. BRILLIANT.
This was a fabulous night in Shepherds Bush....I had the pleasure of interviewing Chas a number of times & was a real pleasure to know him...will miss getting his texts in the middle of the night asking if i was awake, as he was often on his way home from a gig :-) Cheers for the memories Chas & hope Dave continues the musical magic!! x
I can't believe it's been a year. A lovely man who I had the pleasure of seeing and meeting twice, he has a beautiful family. I cried during Ain't No Pleasing You for a couple of reasons. A fitting tribute to a great performer.
Thank you so much. Very generous to allow Chas' fans on the other side of the world to experience such a wonderful tribute. Such a talented man...he is sorely missed. And such talented kids...he must have been so proud of them. Thank you again. (Oh, and I cried all through Ain't No Pleasing You too)
the final catharsis of this wonderful memorial is something of epic. so much warmth and love alive. and just realize, Mr. Eric Clapton standing humbly in the back somewhere behind the frontline scene trying to keep in-tune).
In Newcastle's promotion season 1983/84 we played Chelsea at StJames Park, there was quite a bit of bad feelings between the rival fans, Chelsea had brought a fair few fans up. Then at half time the loudspeaker started blasting out a Chas and Dave song, I can't quite remember which one, the atmosphere completely changed, I think whoever was playing the record thought it was a bit of a pizz take but in reality they probably stopped a lot of people getting filled in.
I remember your mum playing the piano in the Granville i was born in Alens Road Ponders just near the allotments. My dad helped lay the concrete road from the gate to the club so many great memories 😊
I was there that night...balling from start to finish...but, because my phone was flat, I wasn't able to take any pics (or the odd sneaky vid...ssshhh), so I was beyond gutted...I can't tell you how great it is to find this in here. ❤️💕🎸🎶🙏🏻
One act that I truly regret not seeing live when I had the chance. If you haven't seen it look for the documentary they made about their music. Full respect to CHas who was a self taught musician/arranger. I used to do a pub gig/open mic night that they would occasionally come to and had the privilege of actually getting a laugh out of Dave with one of my monologues that I used to do.
Seen chas & Dave with my uncle in November 2015 at holmfirth the picturedrome they rocked the house good style 🎶🎶🎤💙...Rip Chas Hodges mate in heaven XX ))))rockney forever Dave peacock done his friend and musical partner proud👌👌💯💯💯💞💞
Allo👋 Ere's a bit of "Rabbit Rabbit yap yap bunny bunny Rabbit" from yours truly🤣👍 Thanks for all the music/memories and bloody good times listening/dancing to your music as a lad and now middle aged geeza You've played for myself/others at many a party etc over the years and i was lucky enough to see you live at Guilfest a few years back Me mum just popped up with Saturdays "Linen Draper" lovely story by Joan Hodges "Er Indoors" What a lucky geeza/lovely lady she is Anyway.... All the best🍺
Thankyou so much for sharing. Have always loved Chas & Dave! All of the musicians that took part were amazing! Really really enjoyed watching this. God Bless ya Chas, xx
Good old chas dont know if u will read this Dave but I saw u lineing the gypsy wagon my grandad had traction engines and threshing drum which he lined the wheels etc I still have his brushes I have had bow top wagon and piebold horses and running dogs nice one mate 👍
Thanks for uploading this video!. loads of great music by a loads a of brilliant musicians. It's sad when it's over, You don't know what you got till it's gone.
So I was actually doing ok with holding the tears back. Then 2.30.34 happened. There's Nik at the front saying Thanks, Dave's hugging Katie behind him, and then (this is where I really started flooding) Dave hugging Joan. Amazing show.
My brother in law was the spitting image of Chas who also.passed away sadly making a new life in Australia with his family Why wasnt this updated till 3 weeks ago from.last Dec Grest show Saw the idesl musical.cockney double act twice live 👍
@@roddyteague6246 I can remember something similar with the great duo Flanagan & Allen. Ironic then that Chesney Allen retired from the act in 1945 due to ill health and outlived the other 7 by many years.
The great chas hodges completely underrated. He could play joanna like it just came off the ration and Dave was great to join in. This was much better music than you think.Jools Holland respects them, and Jools knows how to play jazz. I think think the Shepherds Bush Empire is closed for the duration, but is mentioned actually in Only Fools and Horses "From a mush in shepherd's bush" by the great John Sullivan. You stick a pony in your pocket, I take a suitcase from the van, but if you want the best 'uns but you dont ask questions then bruvver I'm your man. As where it all comes from is a mystery, like the changing of the seasons or the tides of the sea. But here's the one that's driving me berzerk, Why do only fools and horses work? John Sullivan wanted Chas n Dave to sing it on the titles, but they weren't available, so he sung it himself. That was just a copy tape submitted to the BBC as a prelim copy, but because Chas n Dave werent available they went with John Sullivan, the writer, his version. He never meant it it to go public he wanted Chas n Dave to do it. He aésp wrote "Dear John" and you can hear him singing on various BBC things- the BBC was very cheap and wouldnt pay repeat fees. You'll hear John Sullivan's voice on a lot of things, for example Citizen Smith he is singing on that. One of the best comic writers of my generation but the BBC wwere so cheap they didnt pay him for it
What a great tribute to Chad hodges. But the story told in chases words. Was funny. That was timed at 1:42:12. But on the hole. Both were two great musicians. Chad will be greatly missed. By all that listed to the music. Of both Chas and Dave.

Just the way Joe Brown & Dave Brooker gave him a hug at the end of "Aint No Pleasing" ..
Great legend.

Bottoms Up To Our Culture! Music a Big Part of It!!!
One of the best ever
I saw Chas and Dave in the acoustic tent at Glastonbury 2005, was by far the best band and atmosphere of any band that weekend
Love Joe Brown, from a Yorkshire man, and a C&D fan
Rockers just keep on rocking.......

Ironic Dave retires. Chas carries on. and Dave comes out of retirement to do a tribute show for is best mate. What a guy.
Sad as well. Dave retired from the band due to his wife dying of cancer. Then Chas died.
