I drive a 3gen mr2 with similar handling characteristics as in being mid engine rwd. Where it looks like you "screwed up" is by not hitting the throttle before going over the curb. I'm sure you are familiar with lift off oversteer, but if you aren't, this just looks like a classic case of that combined with a curb. Great to see you using your car like its ment to be!
Dirt bath! 😂 because no damage. I actually think it’s kind of fun to watch spins, oops, and saves when no damage of course. I also like to post up the ones I have witnessed or participated in. Keep safe out there, thanks for posting!
If you are going to be taking a lot of curb you have to hold the wheel steady. If you need to add lock while on the curb you will most certainly spin out.
Curbs can often cause this, and you need to be ready beforehand. Here's me making the same mistake in a single seater: ruclips.net/video/IHNSEI9FEUI/видео.htmlsi=vtH-oqBVCngMBcgI&t=58 Is the suspension standard? The Elise suspension is set up to do specific things at high compressions to make the car stable, and if the car is lowered or running non-standard suspension it can mess this up. This caused Lotus a major headache at the time - not setting the car up, but trying to engineer it not to kill people when they modified the suspension.
Wow, nice recovery there! I definitely wasn't that ready because I'd taken that curb (though less of it) already on 20+ laps. My Elise suspension is Penske single adjustable shocks with 350 lb/in spings front and 500 lb/in springs rear. It has a proper alignment from the local lotus experts at Trackspec and isn't too low...maybe 10mm lower than stock? (I have a steep driveway so I can't lower it too much.)
Sounds like you were off throttle. Elise/Exige NEED maint throttle through the corners. The more modified, more highly sprung the car is, the more sensitive it is to lift off over-steer.

I'm glad you and the car were ok to drive another day
Yup, my trackday rules are 1) bring car and myself home in one piece 2) have fun and distant 3) go fast.
Glad you're okay! Did one super similar to this at Buttonwillow a few weeks ago. Wasn't passing, but shifting and hit the curb. Thanks for sharing.
I think your username says it all! Thanks for watching!!!

Glad you liked it! Yeah no damage so I got off easy on this one. Had been a long time since I'd left the track in my Elise so maybe I was due for it.
I hate turn signals for passing at track days - too easy to be misunderstood/missed. Hand signals are the way to go imo.
Good point!
@@AtypicalDriver I see what you did there
@@bboixtc LoL I didn't even realize the pun until you replied.
Thanks for sharing--great to learn from and glad you/car were fine!
Yeah nice to have the run off space, that track is really fun!
I noticed a white V6 Exige in the pits. Super rare in the States. How did that go!?
Oh man that thing is RAD! It's like the Emira V6 drivetrain in the Exige chassis. Perfect combo. Was very fast. The driver is also very capable.

Was having a fast lap so definitely entered too hot, plus taking a lot of curb. All around recipe for a spin.
Is that Steve in the white V6 Cup @02:36 parked next to the yellow Emira?
👍
Looks like your rear left went into a hollow (in the dirt?) and thats what upset it. Don't think you were ever coming back from that
Good eye! Yes there is definitely some type of pothole just before the curbing far to the left.

Cool vid for BaT some someday😅
Ehh my kids can deal with that when they inherit this car.
Most people ask "has it ever been on a track?" But the real question is has it ever been off a track. 🤣

Yeah I think I was off throttle PLUS hit the curb hard. I think if I'd kept it in I might have been OK.
