I LOVE the ELISE! I wanted one, but at over 6 feet tall, I couldn't comfortably fit. Once, I drove a 4C, it gave me the go kart fix I needed. All the best with your great new toy!
@@PinballClinic for the short time I have owned the Elise, it hasn’t excited me enough like the 4C does. Elise is a great car but the 4C has extra drama and it makes me feel like it’s a mini supercar.
I also wanted the Exige but I did not buy one when prices were low. So I settled for an Elise. There is good amount of leg room but getting in and out is a pain. When the top is off, it’s a lot easier.
@ we also have those, and none of them are cheap: My speedster was almost 30K euros, A boxster is between 20-30 depending ob the version, and the Mr2 spyder 10-17K euros. All of them good cars..
What country are you in? We used to have $2k for NA Miata before Covid, after that, everything went up. Nice NA Miata’s are commanding close to $10k now. Cars I used to buy for $5K are now over $10k.
Congratz man! Im roughly 15 years younger than you, but the elise has also been my dream car to own, ever since first seeing it in NFS Most wanted :D Perhaps when i reach a similar stage in life I'll get to fulfil that same dream as you did. Then again, who knows how expensive they'll be in 10-20 years haha!
Thank you! I think I wished I had one starting in my 20s. I waited probably 15 years to get one. Good thing prices are coming down from covid high and quite a bit of them are below $40K range. Hopefully you get one sooner.
I'm on a similar journey as you, currently still with my MR2 Spyder which I love to bits, but one day (if my investments work out) I hope to own a Elise too.
@@UAF_ViVi I loved the MR2. Very fun car and inexpensive to maintain. The Elise kinda reminds me of the MR2. Elise is a lot more hardcore and I get a little concerned about damaging it. I'm 5' 11''. I had a friend who is 6ft 2'' fit without an issue. There is plenty of leg room but it might be an issue for you to see through the top of the windshield. You might need do duck down to see the street lights. We have few people in Sacramento, Roseville area with Elise. I know one guy with an Exige; I usually see him at Folsom Cars and Coffee which is held every Saturday in El Dorado Hill by the movie theater. He usually allows people to sit in it.
I am 6’ 2” and fit no problem, there is still about 3 inches of room to slide the seat back as well…. Bit of a bitch to get in an out of with the roof on but I am in the UK so with your better weather should be less of a problem for you guys 👍
I wish they were $20K. Salvaged/rebilt title Elise are going for around $25k or higher. Exige cost even more. I think most of them will settle between $30-40K range.
@@5593doug Yeah but we also make 10x as much here lol. I'd rather take the massive American paychecks over saving a couple tens of thousands here and there.
That's because we have 330 million people, make more than most of the world (not bragging, just making a point), and only have around 6,000 US federalized Elise/Exiges that were sold from 2005-2011. Put that together with our bogus import laws that prevent us from importing anything from overseas until they hit their 25th birthday, and it makes sense why good condition Elises now run around $40-50k here. S1 values have really taken off the past few years since they are now old enough to get our hands on them. I'm planning on looking at some next year when I travel to the UK for the first time and eventually snagging a decent one for under $30k after all shipping and duties.
@@kman5711 that plays a part, but I think the tariffs and taxes the US puts on foreign manufacturers (unless they have plants in the US like Subaru and Honda for example) plays a massive role in increasing the prices to begin with and then there's like this "elusion" that anything European is prestigious of something. For instance I bought a 2006 Audi A3 with 160,000 miles here in Indy when I moved here. It cost me $4000, which I think is about the going rate from what I can see. That's not a desirable car, it's just a front wheel drive Audi hatchback, no special engine or trim level. But in the UK that car is worth like $1000, even before the used car market in the UK started to collapse. And trust me I know about the importing stuff, I have a 996 Carrera 4 in the UK I want to import because I've had it for 8 years, spent thousands on it and I love it. The car in the UK is worth about $15000-$17000, and over here an equivalent car is $27000+. Sadly I can only import it for one year unless I become a resident, so it's just staying in storage whilst I have a work visa only.
