I have finally attended the Stoneleigh Kit Car Show, after many years of hoping to visit. I of course brought my fake Cobra, a Dax Tojeiro, and spent the day looking around some of the most wonderful replicas and kit cars the UK has to offer!

I think your missing the whole point here mate. You own replicars and you are taking the piss out of the originals.
The REAL fun would justly be coming from bringing a REAL (as you call it) Cobra to a replicar show.... Just as it would be class to bring any "real" Ferrari etc. THAT would be taking the piss correctly.

It is. The company that does it are called Anudimension. I'm currently saving up for the other car they do. The 911 gt3. Not the rs. It goes on a mk1 boxter. The 3rs is on the second generation. I'm slightly obssesed 😂

@@MrSuperG nothing about it will be like it is when it's built. I will be changing everything. It's the reason I want to use the first generation boxter. Loads out there with knackered engines. That way I can give it a engine swap and buy the doner for around the same price as buying a fully functioning boxter and I'm also not chopping up a decent car.
I'm kind of getting tired of the real thing. This is quite interesting and very refreshing. I can appreciate all of the work these builders put into their cars.

The show is usually *massive* but it was arranged at the last minute and few people or traders attended. It’s normally well worth a visit

@@eliotmansfield Fun fact, the reason why the traders hadn't actually attended was actually because some of the hotels they pre-booked ended up cancelling and they couldn't come. Sad times. I went there on my eliminator for my first trip.

What i love about kit cars is theyre built by the owners and people who genuinely enjoy building cars. Some may say its dumb because its not real but to be fair theyre not trying to sell it as fake or make a profit off their kit car, its done cause it makes them happy and its fun.
I'm fine with the kits itself if it's what you're going for, but I'm unsure on how to feel about the fake badging. Like why put Ferrari badges on a Toyota??

There's going to be a shortage of MR2's soon, they'll become so rare and sort after, people will start making replica MR2's from Farrari's

I know a guy who build a Ferrari 360 just like the real one. Ended up selling it to an enthusiast who already has an original, saying the replica was better! It’s a work of art 👍

Search ‘360 replica exhaust sound’ that’s the car, his name is Costa and he’s building a Mercedes Gullwing now (commenter Un-Known Musician who said that is my other account) anyway it’s built off of a MK3 MR2 he bought brand new, everything is custom apart from the main chassis. 3L V6 and standard 360 exhaust.

I like how kit cars have gotten better over the years. Compared what kits used used look like it is very Impressive what these people and companies have achieved
I'm surprised Ferrari didn't send a team of lawyers to walk around handing out legal notices during this... They're well known for their litigious nature in this regard.

I would honestly love a replica kit car. It's just cool to have and shows how much you love a certain car. Some people might talk shit, but your the one having all the fun and getting all the looks.

I got an old mazda mx5 back on road for £700 including car looks mint and repainted with a roller in the drive.With shark's mouth on sides but done most of the work myself 🏴

Ahhhh, that brought back memories from the late 80's & 90's. I used to take my kit cars to Stoneleigh & Newark every year. We had such a great time and made many friends at those events (some of whom I am still in touch with). The red car at 6:14 that you couldn't identify was an Eagle SS.

Honestly, I'd rather a good replica. Don't need to worry about putting miles on, easier to fix than the real ones generally, and you can modify as you see fit.
I drive a Speedster 356. It has a ‘65 vw beetle donor pan. Vw parts cost, but it looks like a Porsche

I attended this show on the Sunday as I was at the Complete Kit Car track day at Blyton Park.
It was a good turnout and the auto jumble I thought was pretty good.
I came from mainstream cars (fast fords) to take up the challenge of building my MK Indy RX5 7 Style kit, I love it so far, unfortunately still not finished but not far to go :D

I totally understand the motivation and reasoning behind building a high quality replica of an unobtanium car like the Shelby Cobra. On the other hand, I am at a complete loss when it comes to these modern Ferrari replicas based on cheap cars with body kits and horrendous interiors...
1. It will not drive like a Ferrari or anything close to it.
2. You can't even pretend that you are in a Ferrari, as the interiors look like utter crap.
3. The exterior will only fool most people at 50 yards away.
So for what reason do you have a car like that?

Some of these are good Ferrari replicas, even the interior was replicated. But yeah, the Ferrari is all about engine sound. Although, I’ve seen some modern cars with installed sound system, that replicates the agressive sound of the engine (to the driver from the inside and to the people nearby from the outside). Oh yes, and fake aggressive exhaust tips with nothing inside ( I can recall only Lexus, but 100% other car manufacturers doing this as well)
This was fun, and to the haters, some have used hundred or thousands of times building this, what have you done?

The boxster 911 replicas look incredible. I love the longer sloping roof, I think it almost looks better than the. factory 911s.

All of the SWB 250’s you see racing at Goodwood are replicas. There’s apparently a gentleman’s agreement that goes - someone who owns a real once can race the replica so the real one doesn’t get damaged. Kind of makes sense but they should make it clear.
Not only them, i would bet 90% of the classic cars on these events are replicas

The great things about kit cars in the UK is that when the insurance forms ask is it modified you can say no legally! And that shirt was a lot louder in person than the camera gives credit!
for me these shows are not so much about the cars, but the fact that some replicas actually turn out better than the original, and it celebrates the builders rather than the cars themselves.

Cobra and GT40 replicas are legit, the rest are deeply tragic.
I’ve seen a cobra Daytona coupe replica that was pretty damn good. Sticking shitty body panels on an MR2 or MX5 is a crime against humanity.

Yup but once you get an mx5 or whatever make sure to look for the rust issues🏴🤪
@@TheTopG420 Ive already own a few potential donor cars with little to no important rust issues (beetle, MX5's and an old 944 turbo), Kinda like the idea of building my own tubular chassis, but most likely end up with something like the Exocet chassis as I don't really have the time to both fabricate it and go through the pain of getting it approved for UK roads. Been there before and it was a bit of a nightmare.
