This reminded me of the fun i had as a kid crabbing in 1970's Louisiana off piers, jettys or foraging on the shoreline after dark.Caught whole ice chests full on string using chicken necks, giblets and fish scraps. Huge family crab boils just like that. Great family memories.
If you use 2 tablespoons of white distilled vinegar while you boil any shell fish it will make it easier to Peel off the shells from the meat. Love you all, Happy holidays and god bless.

I've been a Floridian for a few decades, but I used to live in Maryland. When I was a kid, we would go down to a dock,, tied a piece of chicken to a string and just dropped it in. I think they like the shade of the dock ? Anyway we caught many many blue crabs this way. We would feel the line getting poked at and just haul it up and there were crabs hanging off the chicken refusing to let go. We got bushels with this tactic, but a trap means you don't have to sit there all day and can do other productive activities. My point is , the next time you go crabbing, try chicken. I love blue crab but haven't eaten any in years. We used to have all you can eat places and I loved to sit for a couple hours and munch. I love your idea about cleaning them out before spicing. I may have to go crabbing soon since you got my mouth watering. I think they usually through on some old bay seasoning after cooking ? Since your fingers are covered in it as you open the crab, you still got the flavor. One more thing I learned about blue crabs that is easy to remember is that when you flip the crab up to determine sex, the boy looks like the Washington monument , and the girl looks like the Capital. I can’t believe it I just realized in the beginning of the video your at my neighborhood dock I grew up fishing on in Eagles Nest. I go out fishing with Dave Knutson and we get loads of fish commercial fishing.
Bit of advice from a Cajun. When you pull your trap, splash it in & out the water to rinse it some, before you pull in onto your boat. Then open the bait door & do it again. Help keep your boat clean. Also, when placing your trap, make sure you have the throat(s) facing the current or water flow from tidal patterns. You’ll catch more. 4 throat traps work the best. Use you graph to find unusual bottom contours & put your traps on or near those spots.
Dude, everyone knows you have to eat the insides of the blue crabs and the reason why you season the outside is because when your pulling the meat the seasoning gets everywhere and you get the seasoning on the meat anyway. Big fan, great vid Gabe

I'm 70, now but, I was the first man in the history of the State of Wyoming to get full custody of his kids! So, I raised two daughters from the ages of 5 and 4 to 15 when my eldest was killed in a car accident with 4 other young people and the youngest is now, 39! She has 3 kds of her own! Anyway, I know how tough it is raisng kids! Alone, it's even tougher! Loved the video!
