I told my husband about this recipe... Ladies i have been up til 4-6AM watchn y'all and laughing! I learned how to make Gorditas, TexMex style puffy chicken holy cow. When i make it ima video it and hope i do it right! ;-)
I’m surprised you don’t have a cooking show on 📺… you would be an amazing hit.. there is no one like you that goes deep into cooking unique meals by scratch 🌮.. love your videos and recipes 📝
Over your recipes.my daughter is full latino an I'm german so besides authentic tacos I never cooked this kind of stuff.I love love your channel an you have helped me so much.Thank you.
Hi guys,,,, I love watching you making my favorites,,,, I come back and watch ya cook just to listen to you two.... it's like having my kids at home an me cooking for them.... I'm a 71year old grandpa that loves to cook....
Santa Cruz Chili Co., my mother swears by this chili powder. She was born and raised in Tucson and has been using their products since she started cooking, I was raised on them! Love your channel, and this recipe brought some great childhood memories. Although I was born in Oregon, my mom was born in Tucson and dad was from Texas! Your recipes are so much much like what I grew up with. Sonoran style Mexican food and TexMex! And mom cooked for our family of 9 children, making a few dozen tortillas every day, papas, frijoles, Chile Colorado (my favorite), and “lazy tacos” with Coca Cola on those rainy days during the Tucson monsoons! Your recipes remind me of my favorite Tucson restaurants such as El Minuto Cafe, Mi Nidito, El Dorado and Crossroads and I can’t forget about El Charro! I live in Phoenix and when I get a craving for mom’s cooking, I visit my other sisters Stephanie and “Cloud” and cook it myself (I already have 7 sisters and these ladies make it 9!). I would ask mom, “why does your food taste so good?” and she would say “because it’s made with a lot of love!” Dad cooked too and when asked the same question his replay would be “everything daddy makes is good!” THANK YOU!
This San Antonio boy thanks you!! Puffy tacos are truly a signature dish of San Antonio Tex-Mex. I also love the way you emphasize allowing the simple flavors of the food to come through. To me, this is the essence of San Antonio Tex-Mex and deep-Mexico cuisine. I want to taste the essence of the beans, the chicken, the masa - whatever. Others might call it "bland", but not me. And I also agree that comino goes well with SO much! One of my favorite, most often used spices. Love, love, love your vids. Keep them coming!
After I saute the chicken, broth, chilies and tomatoes I let it get room temp and zip lock a portion of it. Throw in freezer and I have it half done when I want to make tacos later on. Love it girl
I so love your videos!!! Such tasty recipes! I love Cumin too! Turmeric for joints 😁. I love that you add Cilantro at the end and not cook it from beginning. I have an option of leaving it out .I am highly allergic to Cilantro. Just cutting a bunch while I too am in the kitchen, my skin and nostrils will start to burn and my eyes get puffy and itchy. And angry red bumps appear all over!
Love your cooking techniques, and I'm originally from San Antonio. ...YAY! ! ! I've been in Nor Cal (Clearlake Oaks )7 yrs now. Keep up the great work, you inspire me to cook from scratch, I'm old school and always try to stick to my guns. Love you guys.
My favorite part of your videos are your warm and welcoming personalities 💕. Love how well you two work together, the playfulness of your interactions, and how much you love cooking for your families. Much love to you both and your families. 🙂
Super meal idea! They remind me and are similar to the "Navajo Tacos" I used to have and enjoy when dinning at the homes of my Native American friends homes when I was young. At times they would be stuffed with either chicken, quail, rattlesnake or just plain pinto beans. Some toppings also used in thier Navajo Tacos included lettuce, onion, cheese and a salsa made from diced prickly pear, tomatoes, Jalapeño. Good stuff! A tablespoon of jalapeño juice and a dash of salt added to an ice cold Corona or Tecate' makes it that much more spectacular.
Good job, girls. It's not easy making a puffy taco "shell." I know from personal experience! I saw a Puffy Tacos tutorial several years ago on the America's Test Kitchen PBS cooking show. They made theirs with ground beef. I've made them many times since and they are absolutely delicious. Hard to eat, LOL, but out of this world. There's just something about deep fried masa dough that is soooooo goooooood!
Made these tonite. They were fabulous. Thanks so much for your detailed instructions. Not sure I could have done it without your help. Love your videos.
I really appreciate when you leave everything in so that we can see what can go wrong, how to fix it or just let it be. This is real life cooking and I love it doña. ♡
LOL I must not have been the only one who intended on asking because you put the mango horchata recipe. The tacos looked so amazing and I am so hungry for those but your drink also looked so good and wanted to know what it was so I'm glad you pinned the recipe for that also
You are so right! It really takes time to learn to make tortillas. I have made them a few times and each time I learn something new and they are getting better and better!
