Best thing is when Shane started playing early and unexpected, Dave's face was priceless . 😂😂😂
His face was like “Oh shit! We goin’ now?!” That was awesome!
100% lol..be careful what you wish for
¡¡True!! Jajajaja.... 👌
He was like oh shit...he caught on fast
I LOVED IT!!! Shane has spunk!!
Holy shieet. Hes just like his father. I wonder if Dave is being a mentor for him. Honestly would bet that he is. Shanes just too young to be the main drummer for the FF. Really hope this kid transforms into something amazing
I actually hear that Shane emulates Dave more with his attack style. It’s a heavier thud with a ton of power! Can hear the timing is a little slower at parts, but that comes w/ time. This kid kills
I hope they get Shane after he finishes his school. 😊
What does "too young" even mean?
@@ThomasMetal75 What do you mean “what does too young mean”. You can’t take a highschool kid on the road as your main drummer. Not with as big a band as the foos. He needs to break into this level of fame very slowly.
@@danduntz2539 Exactly. Thats why I was wondering if Dave is mentoring him. Im sure he is.
Daves face when Shane just started was priceless. Also i noticed Nate shake his head with a smile on his face like he was thinking "you little sod catching us out like that". Shane really is family as that is what you do to family, you annoy them with things like this. He still has some slight issues but i mean hes 16 hes not going to be perfect. Hes amazing and definately with more exposure to live shows hes going to be one to wath. His dad will be proud
Hopefully they keep getting him ready to one day be THE drummer.
Adolecêntes kkk não esperou Dave
What a surprise to see Nate doing backing vocals! And what else is there to say about Shane, he's doing his father proud, what a beast.
I'd like to see pat do them again
But and chris no?
It is cool to see Nate singing ! He’s been there since day one of the band . What a great brotherhood they all have !
He did backing vocals in the 2000s a few times
@@random_dude69420 Yep, on Monkey Wrench and I'll Stick Around if I remember right
I like how he just cut Dave off mid sentence
Insane drum fill starting around 4:02 even caught Dave off guard. He starts laughing. 😂
That fill sounded JUST like Taylor. What a bittersweet feeling.
I can’t think of a better group of father figures for this amazing kid. His dad can never be replaced, but Dave has known him since birth and is like family. What a fantastic group of mentors.
Nuthin replaces Taylor...sucks but it's true, but i gotta say, I prefer hearing the Foos with Shane over Josh. Call me crazy.
you are not.
1:43 When Shane just kicks in half way through his speech, I felt that rebellious shit deep in my core. Exactly what I used to do on stage "fuck your speech old man", lmao. Kid still needs to get his timing solid, but that will come with practice. He's got the spirit at least.
Yes and also very well rehearsed before hand to ensure it all falls into timing and place! Come on 😂
His timing shifts a tad occasionally, and yeah, within a couple years he'll probably be rock solid...but I think in general, his pocket is better/more like Dave's/more like his father's than Josh's. (Not that Josh doesn't rip)
@@hays9008 Clearly not rehearsed. You come on
🤣
@@hays9008whether it was rehearsed or not, definitely wasn’t in time lol
That was hilarious! Dave announcing the song and Shane straight in before he finished!! 😂
Simon Valsler
That cracked me up too, it's like; okay Dave shut up, it's my turn! LOL! 😂🤣
What I thought was awesome was how quick the lighting engineer kicked the lighting sequences on when Shane started blasting off on the kit. Lol. That man was on it on the controls!
oooh i didnt notice that. Thanks for pointin that out. That was some quick reactions
Dan has been with him since Nirvana.
1:52 Shane gotcha... excellent !! Them kids keep you on your toes lol
He took control!
I dig the idea of him hopping on for a song here and there on tour--it's really inspiring. But I'm shocked and really saddened by people who think it's a perfectly sane idea (in their minds) for a 15 year old CHILD to be full time drummer for a multiplatinum worldwide touring band. Let him dream and let him breathe--he just lost his father ON TOUR one year ago ffs and you want him to follow? He'll make his way to the stage when the time is right. He's got the passion & chops & will play someday I'm sure. My hope is all his mentors onstage here will protect him. Show business is an insidious endeavour.
He’s 17
@@AF-zx8ln No he’s not. He’ll be 16 this year (not sure when his birthday is).
@@ejdrapes he’s currently 16 and will be 17 on August 4th.
Omg....there are Olympic gold medalist ice skaters, snow boarders, etc that won their medals at 15....a certain type can handle the pressure and THRIVES on it, just because thar isn't u, don't knock those who do...
@@theseth455 Nope! His sister & mom confirmed he's still just 15, but his bday is August 4th and he'll be 16 then. Taylor had mentioned before that his son was born in 2007. For some reason when you google Shane's age, they've put it in that he was born in 2006 though, so most people who haven't followed think he's a year older than he truly is.
Holy Cow look at how much Shane has grown in the last few months!!
Shane's playing style is much more closer to Dave's than Taylor's 😂😂
Yeah he destroys the drum set
I was thinking the same thing!!
I have to smile….that hair flip/head bang is a compliment to Nirvana Dave
@@jayannakelley9051 any and every rock drummer watches Nirvana. Dave Grohl’s drumming is iconic
@@gawdawful3378 - I in no way was dissing Dave’s drumming at all! All the channels I watch that talk about musicians techniques always compares Dave to this generation of John Bonham. High praise indeed!
Freaking rad!! That kid is phenomenal! I know they feel the loss of Taylor every time they play, however i see joy within all of them, especially when that kid wails! ✌️
F YOU DAVE, WE'RE GOING NOW!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Classic
That was the best . I bet they all had a laugh when they all got backstage. Shane got Dave good.. 😂😂😅😅😂
I love how Dave’s face automatically changed from talking when he heard the drums!
Killed me. 😂
it’s that “shit gotta pay attention now” look 😭
*takes forever to set up
*suddenly starts playing while dave is talking 🤣
the look on Dave's face when Shane starts to play.....no count in....its like fuck....go
LOL the bass player is shaking his head lol
Dave was just giving him shit about taking too long. Shane just dishing it back in Uncle Dave's face. It's a song that opens with drums. They can handle being caught off guard. They're just having a good time.
If Dave Grohl was like my ''uncle'', I would try to f with him like this too haha
@@Jorge.fernandxNate was grinning ✌️
DG: okay, let's start the song
SH: nah, gimme two mins
DG: okay, let me introduce the song
SH: IMMA START NOW
A fine drummer that is on his own time
The most important thing the band can do to honor Hawkins memory is to watch over Shane. Make sure he does not suffer the same addictions his father had and if he does, to get him help ASAP.
You mean Dave, who drinks like a fish and smokes cigarettes? I hope Shane doesn’t pick up those nasty habits.
Total, WAY out there conspiracy thought… I sincerely do not subscribe to the idea, but still a random thought and could be a fun talking point, so I’ll share anyway.
What if Shane wants to be the replacement. Josh is the new drummer. Dave’s way of not allowing for a potential detrimental experience (you’re Taylor Hawkins’ son… you’ll get something great, that’s YOURS) and picking this song for him to play. “I don’t owe you anything.”
Wild and far reached for sure. There are sweet, in the best interest, motives with it though… right?!
@@Drouse1986 one of the most realistic sensible comments on here. I can see why you buried it under another comment; won’t be popular 🤣
I thought it was interesting too, especially after Shane more or less said F U and started pounding the shit out of the drums 😆
@@Drouse1986 Shane is still a kid. I rather see him in school first then later on if he is into music then go for it. The mother should be d one to guide him and of course if Dave is really concern of his personality and lifestyle then he also should warn Shane of the consequences.
This is an old song, oh shit he started haha
For a 16 year old he is absolutely insane
I am going to ugly cry as I write this: a boy becomes a man when he doesn’t look to someone else to nod him in to the song. He just drums. His heart out.
God that kid is incredible, great energy!!
Josh's DW's have such a great tone. But they are really going to have to works on getting those cymbals to sound more pronounced. Taylor used different cymbals and a lot more. So it's probably just a matter of figuring out placement of the overhead mics as this point. That seems to be the only difference really is a quieter cymbal sound.
IMHO Paiste have lower volume and attack than Zildjian.
@brunosuman3131 agreed. I figured. After watching Shane power slam harder than his father, I then new it wasn't about Josh having a different style or attack. It was the cymbals. So if he stays with paiste then they should figure out how to better bring those out.
Zildjian are the Rolls Royce of cymbals
I have been using A Customs and K’s for years
Nothing compares imo
Paiste are far and wide a better sounding cymbal than anything on the market … Bonham used Paiste … who hit any harder than him!! I can’t recall not hearing them from the stage?? … maybe overhead mics would satisfy the listeners??
Here is the “Pepsi Challenge “
ruclips.net/video/u51YkJZ_uKo/видео.html
That was legendary and gave goosebumps when started drumming! He is his father 😊
He's his own man, he sounds like no one else. That's what warms my heart every time I listen to him pounding the drums.
Not necessarily relevant but I was best friends with my dad yet he passed. I am not my father and don’t want to be, as I am my own person. I’m pretty sure Shane thinks the same way, and he’s very similar to Taylor but he’s not ever gonna be him.
@@PauloRoldanof course you're right. But I think the OP has a point that the family resemblance is there with his playing style, and that's fine.
Shane is an absolute beast on the drums!!
1:45 YOU don’t ever tell a Hawkin to hurry and then be surprised you get it!!! Laughed so many times at Dave’s face!!!
He’s just like “oh, shit. Here we go!” 😂
Don't you mean a Hawkins? His names not Shane Taylor. Sorry for pointing it out, I knew what you meant.
4:04 Shane your a son of a gun 💜🤘
There reaction to playing along side shane is different to josh's.
Their live feed was brilliant don get me wrong.and josh is brilliant.he brings a heavier sound.
But at times between songs it did seem frosty to some extent.pat even mentioned shanes name.
This band are tighter than ever.i always felt pat and chris didnt get on since pats return.they never spoke.that live feed saw five members of a band tight and josh.quality wise josh can do it.
But lets be honest, hes a filler until shane is old enough
Taylor's legacy isn't just the great music he's left us, it's giving us the beast that is Shane. What a talent already and he's only going to get better.
The Apple has indeed not fallen far from the tree! He is a little badass of a drummer. Made Dave look like a chump in a hilarious way when he came in 😂 I bet they all had a good laugh about that afterwards
Es INCREÍBLE Shane en esa batería; el legado directo de Taylor.
Lo que tienen los Fufos son bateros; Mr. Freese, y el buén Shane Hawkins. ♥️💯🍷
Wish he was old enough to drum for them. Or rufus .
I feel Shane has a slight Kurt Cobain about him watching this. Is it just me...
THAT feels like foo fighters
I still get the feeling that Josh is filling in till Shane decides if he wants this or not
Shane almost left Dave in the dust!! Lol!
Badass performance. He got a little too fast about 3/4 if the way through the set, but who wouldn't. So much fun.
He plays like Dave LOL Love it ....
Wow. Really wow. I've been off the beating pulse for a while I guess but - wow. He hits like Dave. I'm an old sod and ever since I've been listening to stuff - few have hit like Dave but he does - and Dave's right there. Wow.
yeah, wow!
So beautiful to see them live again. Keep my fingers crossed for a tour in Italy soon.
the smile at the end on Pat's face 😃 heart warming
Shane reminds me of a young Grohl, full of angst hard hitting and fucking brutal, Love it. Loving the old grohl drum feel now back with the foos. Miss Taylor massively but the older songs sound a bit better with the grohlesque drumming
Shanes definitely going to take over when hes old enough. Im ready
I think shane hawkins is the best drummer of foo fighters😁
I wouldn’t have any objections to Shane becoming their main drummer sometime in the next few years. Nic Collins got to drum for Phil and his band and then Genesis when he was in his later teens/early twenties - and he nailed it! Likewise, between this performance and the tribute shows, Shane is definitely proving himself.
Do ya? Opinions are fun.
Shane got gun straight meter timing!! He never speeds uo nor slows down, better than many drummers in the pocket for live work!! Epic groove 🔥🥁
I haven't seen Nate & Pat have as much fun on stage for a while, Shane nailed it & you can see both of them smile just like Taylor was playing
Shane is brilliant 🤩
anyone else think Josh is there until Shane is ready?
I do.
Feels like Shane’s Harry Potter and Dave’s the Dumbledore in this lol jk but really
Since the first time I saw Shane play, I’ve thought he plays more like Dave than his dad. And this confirms it. And ai think he’s been watching gospel chop videos too.
Man that was incredible, he tore it up.
Shane needs to form a band of his own when he graduates high school. As much as a lot of people would like to see him play with Dave i’d personally rather see him make his own legacy.
I expect Josh to stick around for a few years. But he is a super busy guy. I think Shane will end up joining the band once he is out of school
yup josh is busy but look at these tours popping up with NZ and Australia and then probably next year. so who knows how long tour will go on for.
The old man wudda been proud
Shane captures what Josh cannot, the spirit of Taylor which is such a huge part of Foo for me. I’d much prefer Shane as their drummer, he’s kicking ass!!!
AGREE 100000% !!!!!!!!
I agree 100000% too! That kid is fabulous! I am sure he will do amazing things in the future!
Yea man there is something about Josh that doesn’t fit, I can’t put my finger on it. He’s an amazing drummer though !!!
@@BenPowellDrummer I don’t mean to talk down about Josh because clearly he is an extremely skilled drummer. I just feel like he is the perpetual fill-in and doesn’t really leave a mark on any band he plays with. I feel really bad criticizing such a great drummer though!!!
@@Xxsopxx Yea man I totally agree. I think Josh will probably see out 2023 whilst they look for a permanent solution
Nate is singing????? :0
El heredero del trono correcto ❤️
La misma escencia de su padre 🔥
oh he hits hard. good fucking kid
that Hawkins vibe is in his blood. you can feel it.
This kid is getting better and better every time!
Sería muy interesante que Shane tocara canciones que compuso su padre Taylor. Aún así suena increíble. 🥁
Shane Hawkins .. In a few years he'll be the drummer for Foo Fighters .
Doubt it. He’s not going to want to play in a band with almost 60 year old dudes, whose greatest hits were written by his dad. He’ll probably want to do his own band and build that up
He is 16 btw, 17 in August
Holy shit, he looks and moves just like Taylor, god I miss him. Hope Shane becomes big in his own terms
It's nice to see those old timers can keep up with that kid! 😁
Dad is proud, he is a good boy! When he adjust the high hat it's time to rock, like winding a clock!
I love when he does the little fill at 4:04 and Dave starts laughing 😂😂😂😂😂
so much better than josh
Now that's fucking awesome, fellas, true band there
Definitely so much like his dad in him hahaha Dave face priceless
Wow!!! Talented!!
This is so funny I’ve watched it too many times but still …. Hello Shane ….. makes me cakk … and then Shane turns into his dad 😈😈😈😈
Hawkins Jr🤩🤩🤩 woowwww👍
Does Dave know that he's going bald? While ruining this kid's life. Dave thinks he's controlling Shane but he is not. I hope this kid finds a way that doesn't lead to drugs.
Best. opening. ever!
Damn, Shane is PHENOMENAL.
Shane nailed a fill and Dave laughs cause he’s so happy that it’s so good. I f’n love it!
Why’s everyone always “poor Dave grohl?!” The rest of the band lost their friend, too.
IMO they should have quit, done side projects, waited 2 years then started again with Shane. I love Freese but the bounce back time was uncomfortably short. Freese was the 'pro' choice. Shane would be the right choice.
4:03 not bad lol
Dave laughing because the kid threw down a monster fill! Plus the stank face from Nate!
Nate shaking his head after the false start 🤣
Grohl introduces song , Shane starts song , Grohls face , fuck.....😂😂😂
shane : SHUT THE HELL UP DAVE ITS MY TURN *drum*
Shane Keeping the Legacy Alive!
Shane’s going to be a beast when he learns to not rush his fills 👍🥁
How predictable that josh is their session drummer
Looks like the daughter from the movie a quiet place
Dave caught of guard by Shane starting the song 😂😂
Now we see young shane developing a bit of attitude there
fuckkn hilarious
Dave wasn't quite ready for the start there ;)
You can see the o shit in Dave's face when he starts playing
that fucking posture and punch is a Taylor Hawkins. damn kid grew so fast
