The producers clearly tell him to bring this or that up to make things more juicier for the show. There's no way he would've brought up his brother for any other reason there.
Noticed that same behavior with my mother after she divorced my narcissistic father. Despite everything he did to her and us, she still kept trying to insist that me and my brother maintain a relationship with him. Some parents just want to have the illusion that they raised a happy, functional family, and will try to force people together even when doing so just makes things worse.
I actively skipped the parts with Steven because i did not care. Seeing Justin doing good for himself and getting closer to his goal put a smile on my face.
What really impacted me about Steven, and revealed who he really is, was the way he described how his married life would be. Not once did he mention her feelings, or taking care of her......he said he wouldn't be thinking about food, but about sex.......he was still just talking about himself. Ive never seen such a train wreck in all my life.

Steven’s whole intention on marrying that woman and moving in with her was to do exactly what he did. To have someone to take care of him because everyone else he knew was done with him.

Totally true. I have a lot of respect for Justin for not letting himself down and still fighting for his own life. We have to understand that TLC is telling this story. It may be that Justin is also awful, and we just don't see it because the director wanted us to sympathize more with one brother. I'm rooting for Justin too, just keeping the filmography in mind.
Justin being the good kid is no stretch of the imagination either. His customers can vouch for him, he’s very down to earth and humble. Him refusing to visit Steven is absolutely his own choice, and he has good reason to. Brother or not, who would want to rekindle with someone who abused and manipulated them their whole life?

My stomach churned when Steven mentioned "sex" due to having seen the episode where he showed up to Dr. Nows' clinic smelling so bad that patients in the waiting room and even the nurses were dry heaving and vomiting due to the smell of both his legs rotting and him not having showered or bathed in months. You know what's even scarier? The woman who he married saw her on this show and that's how she went to look him up and get together with him on social media. She saw those early episodes with him, saw exactly what he was about, and decided she wanted to be with him AND bring him in to the life of her 13 year old daughter.

TLC should be ASHAMED of themselves; they continually forced Stephen and Justin together to create drama and content despite the fact Justin wants NOTHING to do with him after suffering YEARS of abuse. The father is too dumb to say no or realize what is happening.
No, father is not a poor witness that didn't comprehend that TLC had an agenda. Father enabled Justin's abuser. The father stole pain pills from Justin, leaving him in pain, so that his favourite son and Justin's abuser, could get high. Father at every turn belittled Justin and spoke praises for Steven. Notice for example how he told Dr Now, during Justin's virtual appointment, how Steven did everything right but when asked how Justin was doing according to him he said he made fun of him, wanted to make him look bad and said he eats too much. All the father did was to enable the abuser, Steven, to be able to have better access to his victim- Justin. He was aware of the abuse Justin went through for 18 years, all the beatings and assaults, yet instead of stopping it he continued to enable the abuser even when he was an adult and guilted the victim whenever he tried to put boundaries ( like not allowing Steven to work at the shop as he steals, aside from abusing him). Father is not some poor clueless man. He is an abuser and enabler.

Yep, and all the way through you see the way his dad gives in and gives Steven his way every time because Steven kicks off and starts smashing property if he doesn’t. Behaviour he learned from a young age and continues when he’s in hospital by throwing urine over the floor because they weren’t jumping at the fact he’s pushing his buzzer constantly. It’s evident that all through his life Justin has been victimised and experienced injustice when it comes to his brother, and when he finally gets his act together weight wise his dad victimises him again by forcing him to be with his brother which upsets Justin enough to make him leave the program despite his success up til that point. the fact that he was proven right because Steven used the opportunity to steal his brothers pain medication that he badly needed for after the surgery and Justin was still portrayed as the unreasonable one for cutting off his toxic brother made me feel so much empathy for him. And Steven is irredeemable at this point imo. His father ambushing him with Steven then minimising his experiences while Steven puts on his fake, charming side (all sociopaths have one) and gaslights everyone is classic narcissistic abuse.
It's honestly mind blowing how opposite Justin and Steven both are. Justin is just so pure and wholesome. Steven is just disgusting, inside and out. YES! I remember people posting updates when he got married but I don’t think they ever said she had a child. I have a daughter who is turning 14 in March and I would NEVER allow anyone that toxic near her. And it’s not like the mom/wife didn’t know what Steven was like…when she reached out to him she had been a frequent watcher of his vlogs/whatever and he never hid how unhinged he is. She just thought he had a good person deep down inside. Maybe he does. Because he ate them.

Also someone on here said that she was the one getting Steven the fentanyl pills off the street. Sex industry and drugs go together hand and hand. I used to be a dancer so trust me.
I think all 3 men in that family have been thru trauma from early on and need psychological help asap. The Dad must feel such guilt that he just tries to pacify the both of em whether it be food or a hobby kit to put together or a new puppy. There was no need for Justin to have a new puppy bought by his dad. Justin seems like a kind and smart guy but he could just be smarter in front of cameras and control himself unlike Steven. I really hope not but it could be.

When I heard Stephanie reached out to him after seeing him on the show and started dating him, I assumed it was to get close enough to him to follow through on a crowdfunded plot to assasinate him. Was disappointed this was not the case.

I understand Justin's pain. He loves the idea of having a brother but he doesn't like his brother. You can love somebody and not like them. My dad was abusive too. It was the worst kind. He wouldn't stop until blood was drawn everytime. He hit us like he would hit a full grown man. Even after all of that, I still wanted a relationship with him as an adult. He hadn't changed though and he called us liars too. EIGHT PEOPLE in the house have the same story, but he called it all lies. Once I saw he was gonna stay in denial or blame us, I had to cut him off too.He never apologized but I no longer require 1. I haven't talked to him for about 3 years now but I have peace. I love him and wish him well but I don't want that in my life.

Yes! I’ve been denied pain meds so many times, just given otc options that aren’t working, because they think I’m seeking pills like this. It’s terrible but now they err on the side of letting someone suffer rather than contribute to the addictions

I've always felt bad for Justin... physically and emotionally abused by his brother (even some s.a. survivors suspect steven s.a. Justin as well). Emotionally and mentally abused by his father by forcing him to interact and see his brother, despite how much it clearly hurts him. While watching this circus, I felt if Justin could find a good support group with friends and was able to become independent from his father and brother, he'd finally flourish.
I’ve also suspected SA ever since I saw their dynamic on the show. It’s hard to exactly point out what it is, but I recognized that look in Justin’s eyes/demeanor as a survivor myself. Something horrific happened in that house and the father made it worse by constantly enabling Steve. He just wasn’t interested in protecting Justin or acknowledging his severe trauma. I can’t stand people who enable predat0rs, they’re the ones upholding an environment for these monsters to do whatever they feel like doing.

What on earth was Dr. Now's team thinking? You can't force abuse survivors to reconcile with their abusers if they're not ready- it could further damage their mental health. If a person chooses to go no-contact with someone, you have to respect that and wait for them to be ready... Is there not a single mental health consultant on this show or are they intentionally creating potentially harmful situations for the drama?

No one should be forcing Justin to attend hospital or anywhere with someone who had bullied, physically tortured, and tormented him his whole childhood.

The fact that he abuses the emergency call system just to get sent back to the hospital seems like it can end up as a “boy who cried wolf” situation. I can imagine that one day he’ll have a real emergency but emergency services will be so fed up with him that they’ll think he’s faking again and they won’t help him.

I understand that the father wants his sons to be close, but with their issues, it seems better if that have nothing to do with each other.
Noticed that same behavior with my mother after she divorced my narcissistic father. Despite everything he did to her and us, she still kept trying to insist that me and my brother maintain a relationship with him. Some parents just want to have the illusion that they raised a happy, functional family, and will try to force people together even when doing so just makes things worse.
I actively skipped the parts with Steven because i did not care. Seeing Justin doing good for himself and getting closer to his goal put a smile on my face.

What really impacted me about Steven, and revealed who he really is, was the way he described how his married life would be. Not once did he mention her feelings, or taking care of her......he said he wouldn't be thinking about food, but about sex.......he was still just talking about himself. Ive never seen such a train wreck in all my life.

No, father is not a poor witness that didn't comprehend that TLC had an agenda. Father enabled Justin's abuser. The father stole pain pills from Justin, leaving him in pain, so that his favourite son and Justin's abuser, could get high. Father at every turn belittled Justin and spoke praises for Steven. Notice for example how he told Dr Now, during Justin's virtual appointment, how Steven did everything right but when asked how Justin was doing according to him he said he made fun of him, wanted to make him look bad and said he eats too much. All the father did was to enable the abuser, Steven, to be able to have better access to his victim- Justin. He was aware of the abuse Justin went through for 18 years, all the beatings and assaults, yet instead of stopping it he continued to enable the abuser even when he was an adult and guilted the victim whenever he tried to put boundaries ( like not allowing Steven to work at the shop as he steals, aside from abusing him). Father is not some poor clueless man. He is an abuser and enabler.
TLC hid the sexual abuse of children for years to profit off other shows, so they are most certainly not ashamed for themselves for this.

It’s evident that all through his life Justin has been victimised and experienced injustice when it comes to his brother, and when he finally gets his act together weight wise his dad victimises him again by forcing him to be with his brother which upsets Justin enough to make him leave the program despite his success up til that point. the fact that he was proven right because Steven used the opportunity to steal his brothers pain medication that he badly needed for after the surgery and Justin was still portrayed as the unreasonable one for cutting off his toxic brother made me feel so much empathy for him. And Steven is irredeemable at this point imo.

I understand Justin's pain. He loves the idea of having a brother but he doesn't like his brother. You can love somebody and not like them. My dad was abusive too. It was the worst kind. He wouldn't stop until blood was drawn everytime. He hit us like he would hit a full grown man. Even after all of that, I still wanted a relationship with him as an adult. He hadn't changed though and he called us liars too. EIGHT PEOPLE in the house have the same story, but he called it all lies. Once I saw he was gonna stay in denial or blame us, I had to cut him off too.He never apologized but I no longer require 1. I haven't talked to him for about 3 years now but I have peace. I love him and wish him well but I don't want that in my life.

I've always felt bad for Justin... physically and emotionally abused by his brother (even some s.a. survivors suspect steven s.a. Justin as well). Emotionally and mentally abused by his father by forcing him to interact and see his brother, despite how much it clearly hurts him. While watching this circus, I felt if Justin could find a good support group with friends and was able to become independent from his father and brother, he'd finally flourish.
I’ve also suspected SA ever since I saw their dynamic on the show. It’s hard to exactly point out what it is, but I recognized that look in Justin’s eyes/demeanor as a survivor myself. Something horrific happened in that house and the father made it worse by constantly enabling Steve. He just wasn’t interested in protecting Justin or acknowledging his severe trauma. I can’t stand people who enable predat0rs, they’re the ones upholding an environment for these monsters to do whatever they feel like doing.

Exactly what I said but no as soon as the doctor saids something negative about steven you can tell Steven sr gets bothered and then try to shame justin for being sick

Shame on this mother for exposing her child to Steven. She just thinks he has money and therefore she saw dollar signs. That child deserves better and doesn’t need parental guidance from Steven or advice. He is no treasure trove of wisdom…
I do have to disagree with the money part, Steve looks like he doesn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of! His apartment didn't have a stick of furniture to sit on, lol!
I'd say more she was desperate for money and a father for her kid...
She was probably using him to hustle pain pills. Can you imagine someone who looks, smells and acts like Steven moving into the home you have to sleep in. I can’t imagine what that must have been like for that child

He got married (I think now divorced) and since then has spiraled worse than ever.His attitude is worse than when he was on the show, he does just about anything for money (eats his boogers on live ) for a quick desperate buck. And is constantly dozing off bc he’s high out of his mind it’s crazy!! I believe nobody in his family has contact with him. Everyone is just DONE with him.
I feel so bad for Justin, to have no one respect his boundaries and trauma with Steven. He deserved to be heard and understood.

If a nightmare was a person it would be Steven. A woman actually signed herself and her child up for this. Incredible.
Not only that but she's an attractive woman too. Definitely should have no issue finding a decent man despite having a child, but of all people, she wanted Steven Assanti. It's not even about physicall appearance, but Steven's character is just rotten. Think she took "I can fix him/her" meme too far.
What on earth was Dr. Now's team thinking? You can't force abuse survivors to reconcile with their abusers if they're not ready- it could further damage their mental health. If a person chooses to go no-contact with someone, you have to respect that and wait for them to be ready... Is there not a single mental health consultant on this show or are they intentionally creating potentially harmful situations for the drama?
You would think Dr.Now would have some sort of experience with such situations.

The fact that he abuses the emergency call system just to get sent back to the hospital seems like it can end up as a “boy who cried wolf” situation. I can imagine that one day he’ll have a real emergency but emergency services will be so fed up with him that they’ll think he’s faking again and they won’t help him.
