John, really appreciate you following along. The tedious work is done and it feels like the pace is picking up and a little more traditional carpentry will be involved.
I used to build things where reduced weight was the goal. Mother Nature is telling us to prepare for the worst. As our build has progressed, we have been presented with material options that just make sense to use when coupled with our abilities and low cost goals. At times we feel guided to our task. This land talks to you.
Brother how do u like doing those holes.... I can tell u first hand it sux.... Our ground is probably worse than urs... Im glad we are done with that. We are fixing to put the metal roof on and finish up the rap around deck... Gonna start the mech room so we can wire plumb and move all the solar stuff over from my shed so I can have more man room 😂... Keep it up u 2.. It is a slow journey u will love and appreciate....
You are right, 100 degree weather, jackhammer and pulling rock out of holes is not a lot of fun. We are definitely enjoying getting out of the concrete business and into traditional carpentry work. We definitely envy your progress and hope to catch up soon. Good luck with you projects and stay safe.
I'm sure you have a specific reason not to mount the circular plates directly on top of the concrete pillars before welding them - but please tell me why. Cheers.
I did not want to steam fracture the concrete when welding the round discs and square tubing. The gap dissipated the heat and no shrink grout filled the gap. I had seen a couple of metal buildings where welding on beam pillars cracked the concrete. But also noted those buildings had stood many decades in that condition.
good video and job. really nice job on every thing. both of you take care, be safe and well.

I bow to you Steve, I thought I overbuilt!? I am not worthy!😅 Great job as always Debby!
