    I would never recommend using sprint spikes for high jump!
    As you lean back when jumping the spike plate is in the way amd you are going to jump way lower than you could
    There are high jump spikes for a reason

    • @luiskp7173

      Wouldn’t work for long jump either, since you want to take off with your foot flat. (And I may be wrong, but aren’t you restricted to 6 spikes in long jump? They are showing a sprint spike with 7)

      A distance spike will be more comfortable for the longer events. But, if you are looking for a front plate, a middle distance spike like the New Balance MD 500 or the Nike Zoom Rival MD would give you what you're looking for.

    • @dylanlucas2638
      @dylanlucas2638 3 года назад

      Get the Nike AirZoom Victory. It is the fastest shoe on the market rn for the 800m. And is banned at some big meets for being an unfair advantage. I have them and they are so springy! But the only downside to them is that they are $180. If you can't get those get the Nike ZoomX Dragonfly($150) instead. The world record 5k was set in those. And yes I've tried them on and they don't make really much of a difference between the victory which is a mid distance spike and the dragonfly's are a long distance spike. The only difference is price and springynes bc the dragonflys are made to glide more than aggressively stomp the ground but they are a really great pick for the 800m and the mile and the 2 mile. If you dont want to pay for something more than $100 than go for the Nike Zoom Victory Elite 2 which is around $70-90. I chose Nike bc Nike for the past 10 years has been superior in racing and made the FASTEST shoes. And yes shoes do make you faster! It just depends on the shoe you pick. Good luck man!

    What's better in your opinion? The Saucony Endorphin 3 or Nike Zoom Victory Elite 2? Or which is the fastest distance spike in your opinion?

    • @fleetfeet699
      @fleetfeet699  4 года назад +1

      Personal comfort is especially important for a distance spike. Both of them are excellent choices. The Endorphin 3 is slightly lighter at 3.7 oz for men's sample size 10, while the Nike Zoom Victory Elite 2 is 4.6 oz for men's sample size. Not a huge difference. The Nike has 6 spikes, while the Saucony has 4. So, Nike offers more traction here. Saucony Endorphin has more of a bootie-like construction for the tongue, which many people find comfortable. Nike Victory has a little more padding on the heel collar. The longer the race, the more important it is that your spike is comfortable and fits you well and every foot is a little different. I hope that helps!

    • @fleetfeet699
      @fleetfeet699  4 года назад +1

      @Layla that sounds normal, especially if your feet are fairly flat or wide. Spikes simply aren't supportive running shoes since they are built to help you run as fast as possible. They also tend to have a narrow fit. The most important thing is to make sure that you are wearing the right size and don't have pain when you run in them. Even if your spikes fit perfectly you probably will want to take them off as soon as you finish your race! Thanks for watching!

      Hi Marcos - middle distance spikes could certainly work another thing to keep in mind. Do you play on any other events in the future? For example any longer events? B/c if so it's easier to make longer distance or x-country style spikes work for shorter distance events than vise vera.

      The Nike ZoomX Dragonfly would be the fastest spike on the market rn for those distances, and the 5k record was set in those. And yes they do make you faster. They are so fast that some big meets such as some indoor state or nationals won't let you use them bc they apparently "give and unfair advantage over other people" same thing with the Nike AirZoom Victory. They are literally the same shoe and same story but the only difference is price and the distance is best at the 800,1600 and a few 3200's but they are built exactly like the Nike AirZoomX Alphafly Next%. But just less ZoomX foam which is the most responsive(springyest) foam on any shoe on the market rn. These are only different from the Dragonfly's bc the vics have a carbon fiber plate in the midsole and the Dragonfly's have a Pebax(modified plastic) plate in the midsole. And the vics just like the Alphafly's have 2 AirZoom Pods(pockets of compressed air) in the ball of the foot(shoe) which would be very helpful and help you run faster at the end of the race when you are on the final straitaway and are on the balls of your feet. But both of them still have ZoomX foam and are really bouncy. But the only downside is to those is that they are priced at $150 and the AirZoom Victory's are at $180. But if you don't want to pay that much get the Nike Zoom Victory Elite 2. They have a full length Pebax plate and they range from $75-100. What ever you do don't buy cross country spikes for track! You thank me later!!! Good luck!👍🏻

    • @fleetfeet699
      @fleetfeet699  4 года назад +1

      Track spike shoes come with screw-in spikes, spots for those spikes, and a wrench used to screw them in. Begin by screwing the spikes into place by hand, then tighten them into place using the designated wrench. Here's where you can shop for the best spikes for track: www.fleetfeet.com/browse/shoes/track

    I'm a 6'7 basketball player and for off-season my coach has introduced track workouts but I'm unsure if what spikes to get we only do 70M sprints for max velocity what spikes would be best I would prefer a Nike model as I can get them for cheaper

    • @fleetfeet699
      @fleetfeet699  3 года назад +1

      Hi Adnan, if you're doing sprint training for basketball, we would actually recommend a regular running shoe and not spikes. Spikes are designed to give you an edge in a track race, but they are not comfortable to train in and could even hurt your legs to wear them for too long. If basketball is your main sport and you like Nikes, a Nike trainer like the Pegasus or Infinity Run would be a good choice. Your comfort is the most important factor.

    Whats the best spike I should get if my 100m time is around 12s with random shoes?
    I weigh about 65kgs
    I have a neutral foot strike
    My toes and forefoot are wide and my feet are not skinny, it's shaped almost like a brick that fans out at the toe end, they're by no means overly wide either since I'm a small guy
    I've got pretty short legs and a short lower leg with long insertion calves (bad for sprinting I hear but good for aesthetics)
    My arch isn't very pronounced
    My forefoot isn't conditioned to be all that strong but it's enough to last 200m
    My acceleration is in proportion, better than my top end speed so kind of like a untrained Christian Coleman sprinter except with terrible starts coz didn't practice on blocks but very fast to reach my max speed, I'd say I can reach it in 2s or 20m

    • @fleetfeet699
      @fleetfeet699  4 года назад

      @Anonymous W, if you're running the 100 and 200 you will definitely want a sprint spike. The Nike Zoom Rival S and Saucony Spitfire are both good choices and they have a similar fit.

    • @dylanlucas2638
      @dylanlucas2638 3 года назад

    • @fleetfeet699
      @fleetfeet699  3 года назад

      @Jack B, typically if you're doing a workout like this one, it's best to wear a lightweight trainer rather than a spike, and save the spikes for competition. Spikes are designed to help you run your fastest on race day but they don't give you support for regular workouts and can leave your legs with a lot of soreness if you wear them excessively. They will also wear out faster that way. We recommend wearing trainers for workouts, and then do some strides in your spikes to get used to running in them before you race.
