It’s crazy how some people hate this movie just because the spinosaurus killed the T. rex
That's only one of the many reasons this movie was so hated at its time
It’s not the only reason why the movie is hated, but back in the day it was indeed the main reason why. Apart from this “fight”, which btw shows excellent CG and sound, the movie is a shortened version of The Lost World, without any interesting new character (but rather a bunch of new silly ones) and it’s too short. The ending was, and is, disliked by almost anyone. For years fans have been complaining about Rexy’s demise, with arguments worthy of 5 years old toddlers. It was so frustrating to read online only discussions about how was it possible for the “strongest of the dinosaurs” to be beaten in a fight by a fish eating animal. My God, forums were a disturbing sight. Honestly I think the movie is a nice popcorn movie with no pretense to be masterpiece of any sort, just some fun rollercoaster of special effects. Scientifically speaking it is worlds away from representing dinosaurs as they were thought to be in that period. Producers were just interested in presenting the same design that brought so much success in 1993, but failed miserably. I appreciated the idea of introducing some protofeathers on the raptors. Oh, the raptors were the best, even better than the original raptors from the first movie. Stan Winston did magic.
That's actually a very common misconception.
I could give you a list of reasons why people hate this movie without even mentioning the T-rex's demise:
- Lazy name. It's literally the *only* sequel in the franchise to have a frickin' number in the title.
- Some random guy replacing *Steven Spielberg* at the direction.
- Lame story.
- Inferior score.
- Unlikable characters.
- Awfully disappointing follow-up to Alan and Ellie's arc.
- That dream sequence where the feathered raptor goes "Alan!".
- Cartoonishly intelligent raptors that not only seem to have *a solid understanding of tissue preservation techniques,* but also like to snap people's necks just to show how "evil" they are.
- That trope with the phone ringing *AND BEING HEARD* from inside the Spinosaurus' stomach.
- Some unnecessary changes in the dino designs, like the raptors and those *MONSTROUS* Brachiosauruses.
- Boring "family drama" moments.
- That raptor flute thing.
- Probably the worst, most *underwhelming* and *anticlimactic* finale in the entire franchise.
- Only *92 minutes* long, including credits. That's shorter than some kids animated movies for God's sakes!
- Came out after *_The Lost World,_* which was a *SUPERB* sequel.
Bro, trex would a WHOOPED his axe IRL!! 😂❤
That was the stupid part. At times an animal can underestimate a rival and lose its advantage or the tides turn. Does not mean that it was strong but just that it won this battle.

anyway there is no reason for an animal to chase small pray when you're already feasting the chase was just for the purpose to make that scene who would've been better in the other way chased by t rex or spino to the other one feasting and whiling to defend his pray but w/e xD

This film isn't underrated, it became 100x better once we saw how awful those new ones were.

After all the years, as T-Rex fan, I'm still mad at the scene for obvious reasosn 😂
But after the years, the thing that bugs the most, is that the fight is sooooo short.
I loved the fight in Jurassic World with Rexy and the Indominus. It's intense, both animals fight nail and teeth and getting hurt badly.
That's what I miss here.
The Spinosaurus gets bitten in the neck - shruggs it off, no blood loss or whatever.
Gets rammed by the the T-Rex head on - doesn't even wobble a bit or is confused.
Spino bites T-Rex in the neck - he doesn't fights back at all and dies.
The fight really lacks the fight element in the end for me😅
It is still far more realistic, the JW movies make them too humane and superhero like.

My ideal plot for Fallen Kingdom would be if they spent the entire movie trying to save specific Dinosaurs from hunters while under the impending doom of the volcano rather than just it being the first act of it. Making it into the black market thing really brought the movie down plus did a disservice to the Indoraptor.
Dominion was just a huge let down, literally no impactful deaths, and the very few we got were bloodless or out if screen like Dodgsons.
Completely ruined Giganotosaurus and instead focused on the stupid locusts plot which nobody cares about.
Best part was the Therizinosaurus scene and the creepy atmosphere.
@@alexmason3472 it was meant to be longer and more brutal where the Rex actually got some good bites in and at one point whips the Spino with his tail. Sadly the Rex animatronic that was used for some scenes was a recoloured version of the buck from JP: The Lost World. The Spino was a stronger model with better mechanics and thus accidentally tore of the Rex’s head.
If it wasn’t for that (and the fact the movie got a lot of it’s more brutal scenes cut) this fight could’ve went from 20 secs to almost a minute.

It’s actually because of this movie that Spinosaurus became my absolute personal favourite Dinosaur that animal has stumped paleotologists for decades and after this film I became even more fascinated with Spinosaurus and the other members of its family.
I am really surprised that this movie never got a Special Effects nomination this scene was so ahead of it’s time for 2001. The raptors too look very nice, however the scene with the ugly looking Brachiosaurus probably is the reason why it never got nominated.
Honestly? I loved how they looked in this movie. I cant recall if tenders were ever mentioned, but it would’ve been a great depiction of the intricate coloring males may have had.

it took me longer than i should to notice that the snap-like sound after the victory roar of the Spinosaurus was Alan punching Paul Kirby

ONLY in this film. Real life, Spino would have been DEAD after that first bite it got from the T-Rex. The real Spinosaurus was NOT designed to be a big-game hunter like T-Rex was. It was designed to hunt fish. Also, T-Rex's neck is VERY strong. Paleontologists describe it as an "absolute bull-neck", so there is no way it would snap that easily.

I surprisingly don’t hate this movie I hate jack horner the paleo expert that help work on this movie he knew that the spinosaurus was a fish eater and he was also trying to push his narrative that the trex was a scavenger hunter instead of a predator but it turned out that it was both but he was trying to say it was only a scavenger that’s why I don’t like/like the movie I think it’s a cool movie just not my fave Jurassic Park movie but yea……also here’s a fact about jp3 the spinosaurus was going to be a baryonyx but it was too small and couldn’t go up against the trex:)

It is not possible for a dinosaur that hunted in water like Spino to defeat the T-Rex. Maybe it was a little larger in body, but its thin, long and bird-beak-like jaw structure could never provide sufficient biting power and pressure. Here you see the funny fantasies of the producers and the director, who do not want to build and develop this entire film series on the fear of T-Rex, about creating a new dominant Dino and the fiasco they caused. hahaha :))

As I often say, only to validate the Spino in THIS movie, it was not a normal Spino, it wasn't even on InGen's list, possibly DNA strains from animals that made it smarter and stronger than it should be.
Whatever this thing is, it is no Spino at all. Spinosaurus was a 50/50 dinosaur living 50% on land and 50% in the water hunting for fish. The tail it has is completly wrong since a normal Spino had a long, fin-like tail to swim and moved on all 4 legs
yet the spino in jp3 is confirmed not a hybrid at all, it only has a spino DNA with a tiny drop of mix modern day animal DNA.
