  • Pistons are all set, now it's time to drop the jugs onto this motor. No special tools required except some patience, a bit of fingernail, and a bit of precision pressure applied to the rings. .60 over bore leaves enough taper/chamfer on the bottom of the cylinder to slip the pistons in and let the cylinders do the work of compressing the rings.

Nice job. I always enjoy doing that kind of thing. Had a large time when I was building my 76 sportster motor.

Honestly the more I think about it, the motor assembly is my favorite part of the entire process I think. It's a different feeling than riding obviously, but I do thoroughly enjoy the aspect of assembly and doing it yourself. Then the ride is more enjoyable! Thanks for dropping by!

You’re probably not the first person to work on an old Sportster while hungover.

What is the glue you are using for the base gasket ??

Gasgasinch. Just a gasket sealer adhesive. Dries clear and wont messup/clog oil ports like RTV.
