I find your non tutorial unorthodox spannering most theropudic whilst finish my cheese toasted sandwich breakfast whilst the missus still sleeps....peaceful...thank you saddles ramp...Kiwi in London..
Very good. A little intake installation tip : position intake, roll in o rings - wrap one wrap of electrical tape around o rings to hold them in place while installing your clamps. Be sure to add a support brace from the backing plate of the air cleaner to the lifter block so carb does not pull intake loose on our fine, smooth roads. You're doin fine, soon to be an Ironman !
Fun Video.... I have rebuilt a lot of bikes, Every thing from Dirt bikes, Street bikes, and Vintage collectables, I thought maybe I should shoot you a few tips. Watching, it looks like you got it figured out and sure don't need "Another TIP" …. Well done Cowboy.... Looks good.
I always stick the wrist pins in the freezer for a few hours it makes it so much easier to install on the pistons..just saying..great video Saddle Tramp...Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
👍Lovin' your work S.T., keep it up as long as you're diggin'' doing it my brother. I, and clearly many others, enjoy what you're putting out. Just finished getting my kit together tonight, before I get my knees in the breeze tomorrow to go and visit my Son. Ain't it a grouse feeling getting into bed, or in my case a sleeping bag, knowing that in the a.m. you're going to be in one of the best places to be... on the blacktop with your ride beneath you. Go well S.T. Kia Kaha. (Stay Strong)✌🏴☠️
So good to see the old girl coming together. I wish,Icould make some progress on my shovelhead. But sometimes ya just can't make the time. I'm glad to see your able to make it happen, it keeps the rest of us positive.
Good job ST! Loved watching you doing some unorthodox wrenching...very satisfying to see a young guy use his initiative...bravo mate! I actually had a hankering for an old iron-head Sportster ever since I started watching 'Then Came Bronson' back in the late 60's early 70's. That show was my favourite and started my love affair with motorcycles. I appreciate the modern tech on bikes these days, but I still miss the old days when you never knew whether you'd make it back home...that was all part of the adventure. God bless you brother, you stay safe and well with your wife. Regards from Mitch
I had a '77 Sporty with a Mukuni carb. Bike would occasionally spit the carb off. Fuel line and throttle cable would keep from losing carb. I finally fabbed a bracket that worked.
Nice! Hope Harley doesn't discontinue the Sportster models. I wish they would build a motorcycle with a bigger frame and use a 1200 Sportster engine to power it. The only problem I have with stock Sportster's is the smaller frame size, and I think is why they are called girl motorcycles. 1200cc is not a small engine
@@SaddleTrampTV thanks brother, but I'm just a man, that likes to watch your videos, you are always putting out some really great content my friend, keep up the good works that you do, and God bless you brother 💯
@@SaddleTrampTV hey I forgot to tell you that I'm going to send you some stickers, and if you get some shirts made up that I would like to buy one from you, anyway have a great day brother 💯
One of the most frustrating things I have ever had to do was line up and reinstall the carbs to a 2001 VStar 1100 after a rebuild and replacing the intake boots. I spent more time and cursing lining them up perfectly to get them to go back in. Feel your pain on the intake piece.
Ah man. I was thinking your gonna cut your fingers. Or break a ring. Can't wait to hear it run. I hydrolocked a vstar trying to sync carbs, broke the bolts off the starter, gonna buy a real manometer. Instead of the old homemade style. Have to get a starter and put a better starter clutch in it. Road king still needs a front master cylinder. Oh well, that's half the fun working on them. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR BUILD. Great videos!!!
Always enjoy watching the Evolution of the Ironhead project... It's going to be a sweet bike once she's done. I heard you refer to the Ironhead as your "Iron Maiden" in a earlier video right after you acquired it. I think without even trying before you even started this project, you came up with the perfect name for this bike... "The Iron Maiden"
Great Video I like that you use the shop manual and you're so careful applying oil to the pistons lol. Like your music choice, You have such well-edited.Videos.I liked this one
Good job on the motor mounting, it's nice to see the sporty getting back to life again. A few days ago l saw these fires in Mississippi and was wondering if they could be near your home. Hope they are now under control. Cheers from France.
Hey Saddle Tramp, She's coming together nicely. One question I have for you is did you calculate the change for the torque wrench? I saw that you had the extension out straight in front of the wrench and that will through off the torque wrench by over 25%. Especially one as long as the one you were using. You can use a extension at 45 deg to the wrench with no problems but out in front of it will really mess your torque settings up. Also if you want to learn a ton of info on ironheads check out Tatro Machines on RUclips - his videos are amazing and he has a ton of videos on putting together Harleys. Great channel. Later
how did you tap the wrist pins in by yourself? also is there any position/timing adjustments you need to do as you swap the jugs? Thanks I have and 85 that is in need of the same surgery
Nice video! I watched your clamps. On my shovelhead I've got the same intake, but with 2 half thick clamps each side hold with two screws. It seems original. Are your clamps better? Cheers from France
I hate them blankety-blank beep beep beep beep beep things need I say more. I don't think I've ever had one that didn't leak the first time I tried it! I am watch this vid I don't think I've watched this all the way yet, b u t t t you already probably know this to find out if it's leaking spray a small amount starter fluid around that looking piece of crap and if the motor races guess what it's leaking explanation is I hate them blank beeps beeps mf ing things. But I've always had luck using I can't remember the name but it's a gasket maker that I would seal it with. Good luck my brother. Old A2 Flash sign out LOL

It’s a pleasure watching your channel.👍
Thank you, Simon.
Nice to see the bike coming together. Glad the fires stayed at bay.
Thank you your video showed why to use the piston tool lol

It works.
That's what I do pistons warm, pins cold.
Dip Pistons in hot water

Digging the tunes bro!!! Glad to see this one coming back together.
Great work on the motor, you are doing an excellent job on your bike and your videos, Thanks.
Looks like the bike is coming along nice. Glad u got the cameras out to bring us along with u!
I remmber the other day when they were trying to put that out. Dmv on shut down , i need a tag sticker for my bike to be legal.

We have a forest fire south of us also. Anyway, glad to see you making progress.
The bike looks good. It's great to see it coming together.
Good Job Brother!!! Glad You And Mrs. Are Well and Safe!!! ✝️✝️✝️🛠🛠🛠⚒⚒🔥🌧🏍
I liked the music selection. If I closed my eyes I could picture an episode of CHiPs 😁👍

I enjoyed video immensely ! 😁👍
Its coming together and looking good can't wait to see whats next. Really enjoying the videos.
Good vid love seeing it form together
It’s getting shape! If you want the torque to be on spec you should make sure that the adapter is exactly at a 90 degree angle.
Awesome tracks. Keep up with the great videos.
Good deal...thank you
No problem 👍
Looking good. I wish I could work on stuff like that. Stay safe.
awesome video man! Bike is coming along nicely ! Hillarious intro on the phone 😎
Thank you, my friend. You're priceless.

You should invest in a Harbor Freight bike lift. Makes my life easier when I’m wrenching. Just a thought
Best investment I have made. Cheap little lifts do the job.
It's coming together bro
I use a hose clamp to compress the rings.
Great content love you videography keep up the good work
Lord of the Rings, and they only took all day. :)
fter all that work I need a nap.
Going together well, Tramp. Nice torque method, work with what ya got and do what works :)

Thank you, Kevin.
Where do you go for those fun but hard to find Ironhead parts? We just finished up an old Ironhead...finding some parts was almost work. Thanks!
For the most part, from off line or the local mom pop bike shop.
Good job on the motor mounting, it's nice to see the sporty getting back to life again. A few days ago l saw these fires in Mississippi and was wondering if they could be near your home. Hope they are now under control. Cheers from France.
Yes they were just south from my house. A thunderstorm passed through and put it out though.
Enjoy the videos, have a 75 sportster rat bike.
That's really cool, man.
Torque adapter's are a mechanics best friend. If you want true torque values
Eres genial enseñando como armar reparar hd

@Al Gottsch Australia..
Al Gottsch not sure what pic ya can see of it l have changed a few things same bike as Tramps 94 FLSTN
I wish I had that much room on my stock iron head frame to pull the top end off and and on.
Yeah the rear cylinder is a real pain. I couldn't take the off the rear rocker box without removing the head first.
Hey S/T I'm doing starter my bike, rebuild, set in be checked. Replaced all parts, tore down checking my self, and harley shop. Still ??? Not engaging
Great video. I move to much to have a shop and tools to tackle project like that.
Where is Scotty?
He's somewhere in Texas the last time I talked to him.
You have to let me come up there and lay down a paint job on that thing when your done
how did you tap the wrist pins in by yourself? also is there any position/timing adjustments you need to do as you swap the jugs?
Thanks I have and 85 that is in need of the same surgery
Get a shop manuel
Hey what pistons did you end up going with? Looked like maybe V-twin??
You got it
what manual are going off of for those piston ring directions? i have the harley manual and i don’t see that diagram anywhere
Clymer

Don't know. I'll find out if this thing runs or not.
ST, cool vid!
Sir,
What's that extension you used near the end (at around 10:30)?
Btw, I'm a welder and mechanic.
Don't know the name of it, but it's made specifically to reach the right side head bolts on an ironhead / shovelhead.
Funny how the right tool makes the job so much easier but we chose not to use them lol.
👍👍🇨🇱
Once I buy a house. I'm gonna start working on my 86 sportster.
🖖🏽👍🏼🍺🏍👀😎👍🏼👍🏼
Do you watch tatro machine on utube he does a lot of iron head builds
