It is not hard to see the logic behind Glynn's choices with this one. The movement makes total sense, and the red dial is a winner. But maybe it could have been slimmer, and a bit more different to the Commander to encourage repeat business. Can't argue with the price though! Cheers, Jody
The box reflection face was the golden nugget of this video.
I like the way they did the GMT. On most GMT watches the 4th hand is a bit of a distraction, making it harder to see the time at a glance. The inner scale and short GMT hand do a good job of visually separating the GMT function. As for the small size of the GMT dial, when you're used to reading a GMT, hand position is 90% of it, and even though it's small, because it's separate, it's very clear. Compared to an Explorer 2 for example, I think this is just a better implementation of GMT.
The short arrow is not a GMT arrow, it is a date arrow.
@@True_marksist 😆
I applaud the uniqueness, but not loving the design.
Scary box reflection! 😅
Love the red, love the arrow, love the shield. He’s fully committed. and yeah, the GMT placement works great for me. Whether you are traveling or at home, the main dial is the one to use for the current time wherever you are. The GMT dial could be home or some other favorite time zone, respectively.
cannot stand the 12 hour marker
Right, looks weird
When you look at the underwear one Citizen used at one point, this marker looks fantastic. I think it suits the watch well.
Me, every time I see a tudor
I honestly like the shape, it is just way too large, imo.
That should be photoshopped:)
Good review and watch but the design not so much
Definitely something a little unusual from Glynn.
Its clever but yeah, some design choices, especially the gmt hand are a challenge😂
@@jamesblonde2271The short arrow is not a GMT arrow, it is a date arrow.
@@jamesblonde2271 I loved the GMT hand a lot. Normally I am not so much a fan of complications. But with a GMT I can live with the date complication.
@@snuups Yeah, a gmt needs a date I agree.
The red dial looks nice, but the vertical case sides definitely make it seem chunky, probably more so than it actually is.
The new watch having the Sherwood name quite a bit lower than the first version makes the watch much, much, much more beautiful. The High positioned name (well above the 10-02 line) was a big dealbreaker for me. The smaller font also does better. Did you just drop the watch on the table at 11:29?
Smaller logo too which definitely helps.
I am one of the Commander customers and I am still super happy with it. I chose the green one. First I love green and second I think black is boring. The blue one is gorgeous too but blue is not so much my color. I ordered both Phileas. First I love green and I never had a red watch. On voyages I'll wear a GMT for sure. What I would go crazy for would be a purple watch. So 2 more sherwood watches go to Switzerland. Oh and orange I would buy too. When the two watches arrive I have more Sherwood watches than Casio.
If it true Erebus are made by San Martin?
I like that GMT ring. I always have a problem with reading the GMT hand's time, I eyes go wobbly trying to the 24 hour point on a 12 hour dial. This one make them separate, obviously so, and does not get in the way. My eyes register it the same way it registers a sub seconds. Good job Glynn!
This is beautiful. Wasn't a huge fan of the last Sherwood simply because the logo was far too large, but this is proportioned really well. Love something that pushes the design language a little and this does so excellently.
The price is really good and an interesting design. The numbers in the middle track are a bit too small for my old eyes and the weight of 175 grams is too heavy for me and maybe for a lot of people. I tried to find the shipping price to the USA but they are not for purchase yet on their website. I think if they could make the watch 12mm thick and maybe a titanium bracelet and watch case, it would be around 100 grams in weight and I would then be very interested. Hint for the watchmaker.
David Byrne appears 1:52
Was going to ask Jody if he's short-sighted, as I do the same thing and remove my glasses for close-up work! 😂
Scary
Nice reflection in the box lid.
Couldn't resist.
Shame that Bond doesn't exactly wear affordable watches nowadays. Roger Moore knew what he was doing with his Seikos.
I wonder how much Glynn would have to pay to get a Sherwood on his wrist these days? 😱🤣
@@JustOneMoreWatch The problem is that production of Bond movies is so obscenely slow, that there are no wrists to get a watch on.
Let's start a campaign to get next Bond to wear a microbrand watch... Erebus for example 😁
Saturday 14th of September.....
This fixes what I didn’t like about the original non gmt version. Really balances out the dial. And that price is great. Bravo.
I like both. But red, I mean RED ist a bold choice. I ordered both.
The face reflection in the opening of the box was priceless. 😂😂
I love the Robin Hood themed hands. They would look great on a field watch.
This feels like a refined commander. Dial space is occupied but not busy, and brand logo is smaller. Imo an interesting looking watch, tho im still not into the case design
Averaged sized 7 incher is fucking diabolical, Jody.
Saturday the 15 of September of what year?
Definitely looks like a love it or hate it design, but I do like it overall (few little niggles though). Very creative use of that crescent hand for the GMT, usually seen on pointer date hands. I do, for reasons unknown to me really enjoy the little robin (am i right that its a robin??) on the second hand 😅
Love the green on leather. I like that he's kept the design language from the first watch. Not a fan of the case shape and thickness.
thats one of the best gmt dial designs i have ever seen, im not usually keen on them but thats awesome
Some faint resemblance to the ORIS Big Crown Crimson with the crescent on the end of the GMT hour indicator. IMHO. That said I love the Commander and the Philius is nice and yes Red dialed watches are rare. Casio Illuminator is a very ultra cheap one but.
Loving the red, great looking watch.
Like it all, except size and color. I like my "travel" watch comfortable and out of the way. On that same note, a black or white option might add to it's versatility when having access to options you left at home are not available. Other than that, I like the "theme" as it adds character and talking points.
Hey Jody,
Does the ghost of Robin Hood come as standard on all Sherwood boxes? 😉👍🇬🇧
Red is amazing and the looks a Perfect
Every watch I have with C3 (X1 to be clear), leaves BGW9 asleep on the couch. The watch is interesting but does the GMT module really add so much thickness?
Hou can rotate the hour hand backwards to reverse the date.
Like the Sherwood and it is very well priced. Recently acquired a Wise Adamascus GMT with the same 9075 movement from Thailand Watch in 904 stainless steel. I love it. Would love to hear your thoughts on Wise someday Jody. Thanks for being my go-to watch nerd.
Come on Jody. It's not a shield, it's an arrow head. Could do with being a tad smaller though. Beautiful looking watch.
Very thoughtful GMT complication! You don't need to see each hour marking intricately, but you need to see that hand clearly, and that crescent gently guides weak eyesight to the proper place. Very smart I just wish that the outer bezel had similarly smart markings. Or just make it bezel-less....
The short arrow is not a GMT arrow, it is a date arrow.
@@True_marksist oh? So what is that hole with numbers at the bottom of the dial?
Not really in my wheelhouse, but you can’t knock original design done with a bit of style
You can also go backwards with the date on a true GMT.
Very nice watches love the green one and the oak 🌲 back awesome 😎
Love the green but too thick and 'true GMT' is a pain, hence why other brands use the 'office' version. Can't see the GMT either whithout glasses if over 50! Not beautiful enough to warrant being a 'struggle'. I did like the tree on the back and bored of see-through cases but overall, not so keen on the 12 o'clock shield and arrows everywhere...a miss from me. Thanks Jody!
It's a watch only its mother could love.
Their first watch was cool, but I wasn’t quite feeing it. This one I really like and the early bird price is pretty damn good also. But only red and green? Anyway, I’m sure this will be a success also. Thanks for showing it to us!
Now i don't know about this movement but when i set the date on my Certina i can roll it backwards to set the date.
I have a feeling, from the look of the box, that this is going to be an expensive watch! Wait, how much! Well, hmmm... 🤔
I think the Phileas has a fun whimsical vibe. However, the 24-hour hand's crescent moon, to me, is supposed to indicate date, NOT time. Great movement. Useless "timer" bezel. Put some numbers on the bezel; preferably 24 hour markers on a 48-click bi-directional bezel. Make it thinner.
Sorry, redesign it.
If it didn't have GMT and the middle was a date wheel would be 10x better imo.
I like these watches but can't afford them tough times these days gotta put food on the table
The tree is referred to as the Major Oak!
Not super keen on the design, it's nice but doesn't do enough to make me want to buy it unfortunately.
Interesting design.🤔
Crazy T-shirt, where have You got that from 😂
A crazy place - the internet! I get LOTS of targeted ads for tees, as I'm sure you can imagine!
I'm three seconds in and I need to congratulate you on that t-shirt. It's mega.
It's neat, but not for me. I don't like when the GMT hand is so short. It makes the watch look unbalanced. That the bezel isn't made for ideal function is a let down too. It just feels like a missed opportunity. I'd pay a bit more to have perfect multi-time zone functionality
4:48 Looks like a hair or fibre on the edge of the movement.
A design only a mother can like 😅
good review, nice watch, but you would really need to have a strong desire for this design and functionality of a GMT. Not for me , but I do wish the guy well in having a go in a very competitive and over full under £500 market. Personally ? too many Robin Hood cliches, , the 12 o'clock shield, the arrows embedded in the name and the overall dial looking like a target. it's a marmite watch but it does have a target audience after all. I wish him well and suggest the Robin Hood marketing of a donation to a local charity of his choice in the Sherwood area , or money off your next crossbow.........? Good luck to the chap.
Thanks for the review.
My pleasure Glynn! Good luck with the launch, and any chance of giving ME a six pack?
@@JustOneMoreWatch LOL, any time…
A 6 pack is cheap for a 13 minute advertisement😂@@JustOneMoreWatch
I think I’ve officially reached GMT Fatigue.
As the looks of the watch are very subjective, I must admit I don't like this one at all. But the review is great as always. I enjoy every Jody's video no matter the watch.
Branding looks like it should be for a TV show
Hello,what happened to Peacock Giveaway
Nice box, but that's about it for me. Not really enough to set it part from the myriad of other microbrands, for me.
It looks like a Vostok Komenderskie, which isn't a bad thing
Makes sense that at secret agent would need a tough watch that doesn't raise attention...g shock of course
Outstanding T shirt
The slab side, high polish finish makes it look cheap
I like it better than the 3 hander but why are they so bloody thick?
A watch only a mother could love..
Can’t read those tiny numbers on the GMT. Pass
3:56 average size 7 incher 💀. Not at all average😢
I’m definitely getting this one
It will appeal to some, and not to others.
I love that GMT complication!
The 12 is a bit odd but i like the overall look
The next bond watch wil be...whichever company pays the most for product placement.
Mh not for me. I just don't like the case design. And the GMT hand seems stubby. It's not a bad looking watch, but it doesn't look cohesive either..
Nice !
Red casino chip?
Have the Commander and it's neat...but will pass on this one.
Good price? That remains to be seen. I pay 471 euros, plus import duties and VAT. About 150 euros. Total price for a microbrand 620 euros. Too much for me.
They are not on sale! 🤷♂️
Starts 9am Sunday
@@78thedaddy thnks
I don't get it why manufacturers put a see-through caseback on all those Miyota movements? It looks bland at best. And yeah, the Robin Hood theme for watches is cringe
Robin Hood watch.
Great watch for us Red Green colour blind people.
Sometimes the “design” looks more like he just picked some random pieces from the factory catalog
The 12 marker looks shyte
For a watch made by a graphic designer I've never seen so many 'questionable' design choices in one watch. And the end links don't bear any relation to the case lugs.
Please never call it an “average size 7 incher” ever again. 😂
1:52 Your facial expression reflected on the lacquer box😅
Very nice but no, James Bond will not be wearing one anytime soon
if this will be the james bond watch i will never watch bond series 🤣
I agree that the 9075 “True/Travellers” GMT movement is not as convenient in a collection rotation as it is missing a quick-set date. However…
You said that if you pick it up on the 5th of the month, but the date is already set to the 8th of the month, it’s a hard job to move it to the correct date. This movement however is able to jump the date backwards as well as forwards when the Hour hand moves past the 12am in either direction.
So sure, definitely not as convenient as a quick-set date, but not as bad as a forward-only date setting either.
I'll take a caller GMT every day. In the rare occasion I travel to a different time zone, I use the turned bezel for local time. That's the best way. Never need to muck up the hands.
🤘🤠
I think it looks cheap
I don’t get it.
Strange watch
I'm sorry but i hate this case
Erebus is blowing up so hard on r/micrbrandwatches that people are starting to post complaints about all the Erebuses(Erebi?) flooding their feeds 😂
Whenever I look for a 9075 movement, I'm usually looking at $450 and up. To see it for a bit less than that is impressive! But that thickness? Ugh. I have a gorgeous red Phoibos that I don't wear because it's 38mm with a 14mm thickness. It sits awfully on my 7.5" wrist. Not sure how this will sit.
My white dial Ascent sits magnificently, BTW!
Sorry, couldn't take me eyes off the t-shirt, "Communist cats of East Berlin" 😅😅😅😅😅😅
Didn't like their first model, don't like this one much either.
No,no its not
Lost me at nearly 14mm thickness. That is ridiculous for a watch in this style. Compressor? Sure, GMT diver? No way 👎
It's not for me, but I don't get the hate here. It tried to be several things and while it isn't the master of anything in thise regards, it's charming how it skits them and unique despite it's older brother using the same case. No blue or black? I get it. They're not aiming to please the every man and that's great for a micro. Keep at it. But also maybe don't just make red & green because of common male color blindness. Cheers.
