Nice review and comparison. Love both of these and they will always be on my shelf. Nice smooth sippers. I use them as primer bourbons. Picked up 4 bottles of a Buffalo Trace store pick last week. 🥃
That was the 1st BT I ever had. The local grocery store got some BT SiB & they were same price as standard $22.78. So I bought one & could have bought at least 4. The nose on it is amazing. Overall it's much better than a Blanton's I've had & a different BT barrel. From all the opinions I have gathered, about 75% of the SiB are better than the shelfers.
SR is a mixer, always has been. It was a much better mixer way before the boom when you could find it everywhere at $22 a handle. BT store picks is where it's at.
Both are close and I think it matters from batch to batch. Right now the batch/lot of Buffalo Trace I have recently purchased is outstanding. It like sugar smacks up front. Sweet syrupy and the usual nice. Unlike other batches this bottling isn't hot at all. Other comparisons the results are reversed, but Weller will always be a little more dry and flat tasting. At less than $30 what can rival these two? Anything?
@@tillersbourbonchallenge I feel you and it's sort if just semantics but the way you said it implied that only one had corn. They both have a majority corn mash bill... but one has a little wheat and barley and the other has a little rye abd barley.
Saw that part & was gonna comment, but you got it. Yes, it sounded like he thought the wheat took place of the corn, by only saying the Weller is a wheater & the BT is primarily corn.

If you see picks of Buffalo Trace I highly recommend you grab one. Some of them are super sweet and fruity with little oak. So good.
I agree 👍

Oooh! Can’t wait to see who wins. This is a good one.
They are both primarily corn. That's one of the things that makes them bourbon. Mash bill has to be at least 51% corn
Obviously yes, all bourbons must have over 51% corn, But the Weller is Wheated and Buffalo Trace is not. Thank you for your comment.

Right 👍 Wheat usually substitutes the rye part of the mash bill.

Yes I know, 😅 I meant to say Larceny rather than Elijah Craig 🥃
