many a year ago, a friend of mine and I were golfing. Both of us were not that great, but my friend never really golfed that much. I always remember him saying "you know homer, I admit that this is a beautiful course, but I didn't really enjoy myself". It was from that moment on, we became really good friends.

Father Pine reading my mind. I have a relationship like that. We’ll be messaging and then she disappears and I’m like, “you’re a millenial, your phone is glued to your hand, I know you’re choosing not to answer”. But perhaps it’s the Lord’s Providence to continue to humble me
You guys are the best. Some of your thoughts on friendship are good, but you might be overthinking this? You make some good points, but, I see friendship as a gift that unfolds naturally. But as I say that, I am thinking also, that this present generation doesn’t really understand what friendship is, generally speaking.

It would be interesting to hear some thoughts on the view of someone like St Therese who was very committed to avoiding particular friendships as a matter of spiritual discipline (friendship with Christ). These guys seem to just ignore, assume that's not a possible (possibly desirable) thing.
