I am in the works of getting a mk2 ex prelude that's been sitting for awhile (20 years), and where i live you cant really get A18A/ET engine parts so this gave me a really good idea what to put in it!

Neat swap. Helps to have a chassis prepared for FI. First time seeing this swap. When thinking of 2nd gen Prelude and 2nd-3rd gen Accords I usually think of B20s as a period correct swap. Was that something you considered? Late 2nd gen Accords might have enough similarities with your Prelude so that those could be candidates for swaps as well.
I choose the b18 because I came across the whole car running for a good deal with no title. As far as period correct the prelude is only 4 years older then the integra.
@@MotorHeadMadnessOfficial Sweet! I hope to find a all-in-one donor car as well. Originality wasn't much of a concern, just the compatibility of the parts within a generation/platform would make things easier. That's why I thought B20A, because the Euro preludes could be bought with those engines from around 1986 or 87. They can still be found relatively cheap depending on condition, so they are definitely a candidate for an easier swap.
@@nimaforoughi7266 I had no intention of doing the b20a for 2gs. Parts are hard to get so I swapped to a more popular honda drivetrain
@@MotorHeadMadnessOfficial Makes sense, definitely in the US, where B20A didn't find it's way. On the other hand, you have tenfold the amount of B18s than what I see around here, so a net win for you I'd say :)
Possible to swap a newer civic motor for an 89 Prelude. Actually have the opportunity at a few 89 and 91 prelude. My Ex girlfriend’s dad new his stuff even got a prelude rally car off eBay. I know jack-shit bout fabricating as much as go-kart. Always wanted to custom some car. Willing to invest a prelude for this guy’s legacy. Willing to improve steering, motor. You know what it’s like daydreaming anyways willing to go all out. Be cool iif lived in the twin cities. Liked your vid
You can put any motor in any car with enough money and fabrication skills
what transmission was used for the swap? i got a 86 si just like this one, looking to do the same swap
You can use any fwd b series trans I’m using a Ls trans
is the process and checklist similar to the 3g accord?
Id say its similar but not sure i dont have a 3geez anymore to look at the differences
Innovative mounts makes B series mounts for the 3g Accord, if your Accord is fuel injected just convert to obd1 using a Boomslang harness and the rest is just gathering axles and a cable transmission. Check out the 3geez forums for writeups.
Do you know if a b18c would fit too?
It really doesn't matter as long as you figure out the axle spline counts and the mounts are fabbed to what ever engine you choose

Anyone able to help me out Just got a 82 1st gen prelude as a project but dont have much experience with cars in general however i wanna do my best to get it done well while its already being gutted
Best bet is to find a decent shop who knows old hondas
I had a 79 accord lx. the a20a in stock form will fit and looks really good in place. also was plenty of motor to make her move quickly.

@@MotorHeadMadnessOfficial ill see if I have any pictures and make a short video of them. Some reason throughout my entire life I've never taken pictures of my own projects. always everyone else's.
Donor car was an 88 accord 2.0 carburetor model. 110hp stock. Running with webber side drafts really made the 79 accord an underdog. Hardest part was mounting and axles fitment.
Loved that car the 6 years I owned it. As of currently still driving my 86 prelude si with pgfi a20a3. Hammering the throttle it sings like the old accord.

Didn't find anything of mine as expected. Quick search will get you someone else who did the same swap I did. Except his is fuel injection.

The chassis doesn’t matter as much as the fuel system type and spline count of the Hubs and axles

Hasn't been on the dyno yet so no clue
