hello!as european i agree with you:many riders here like fancy electronic gadgets:electronic suspension ,cruise control, adaptative cruise control, connected TFT like if they wanted to watch netflix when riding and so and so...instead of enjoying the landscape while riding, they are proud of their wonderful machine ,they like BMW 1300GS ,the Graal of motorbike, they identify to the bike socially;when I drive my v strom 650 they look at me like if i were a poor guy!
Haha, so nice to see such friendly comment here on YT. But you HAVE listened to the hence the favourable rmark. You must have bought a second sale 650, right, now that the model has been discontinued in India. I had the Versys 650 for 3 years and finally got fed-up of the crotch hugging by the fuel tank (must be a MJ fan, that tank) so sold it in 2022 after 40k partly painful kms. I bet you are going to sell the 650 and get the 800DE pretty soon🤣
slow speed roling even exists on 250 segment ... vstrom 250 is my 1st bike ... was still doubting when i bought the bike with my decision but after riding ... its just been a blast
I took a test ride a few weeks ago. I felt the riding position is more relaxed than the 650 due to the raised ride height… i have added handlebar risers on my 650 for a more upright riding position but the 800 with its wider handlebars gets a similar position without the risers. You mentioned the superior brakes and thats definitely true in terms of bite and stopping power. What caught my attention was the better ABS calibration.. it was definitely leaps and bounds over the 650. The suspension in its hardest setting was quite nice.. if we turn it to the softest setting, then the ride quality would be magic carpet like i would imagine. I also felt that the bike was lighter to manoeuvre despite its weight on paper. All in all i felt the 800 fixed all the relative misses of the 650 well.
I've just clocked 10 thousand kms on mine in Australia. The suspension felt a bit harsh when I first got it but it has definitely improved with a few kms. The clutch and gears are smooth and definitely not clunky. I have the touring screen which takes a lot of wind off you but I still get a bit of buffeting on helmet. Overall it is great fun on tarmac or dirt and I can't even look at it without wanting to go riding
I just bought one, and find if really good, in looks, power, comfort, and useable torque. Mine is the black version, with blue highlights but keeps the gold rims and forks - it beautiful! 😀👍. Great video, lovely detail, and I love the channel , I have subscribed 👍😀
There is a bigger and wider windscreen as an accessory in other countries, I’m not sure we get that for India. Especially for the road going model VStrom 800RE, that wind screen is coming in stock. Some reviewers say 800DE model is purpose built for off-road so the rider has better visibility with the smaller windscreen.
A lot of people have already asked for the comparison with Transalp.. But would it make sense to add Tiger 900 and F850 GS into the mix as well? They are clearly priced on the higher side but still in the middle-weight category. Just a general discussion on these even in the form of a podcast would be great 🙏🏼
My 2 paisa about outex! Even though outex might offer peace of mind but it does come with additional fear of hitting pothole and damaging it. I have it in my INT650 which served well so far. But overall I still feel Suzuki should have given a choice by releasing 800RE along with 800DE
Devva bantu antaralla :D Woah what a show, dear Bossky and CK, was as good as enjoying a nice movie over the weekend. I was smitten with a test ride last week, hope the stars align for a purchase. You folks are like these neighborhood perfect uncles. Dhanyavaada 😀

Thanks. Japanese machines are more reliable and durable. The only drawback is tube type tyres on the 800DE. If you don't mind that, then the DE could be the one to go for.
One thing that I observed is, recommend fuel is 95+ unlike V650 which can run even on kerosene 😅. It may be a problem to hunt for right fuel on a long ride..

I had this same doubt when i checked it out. it has a 95 RON sticker...and 95 RON is 91 octane which is available pretty much. And kerosene, seriously?😂
Really nice and informational... please have a similar discussion on cost of ownership and service costs... I am considering this bike! Your inputs will be helpful sir.
The metzelers and few others also come with the isi / bis. But dont see them being sold cheap anywhere in the official market.. except vredestein..rest with bis also is a black market price.
Brilliant review, covered everything i was looking for and entertaining, as its an adv another 1 lakh or more for accessories only for crash guard, AUX and engine guard/skid plate, but pricing is great with useful features and quick shifter but awkward number plate placement. more bigger bike reviews please probably multistrada next, believe it has v4 engine so curious what kind of experience would that bring.
Waiting for the better version of this. The 800 RE. Tubeless tyres are a must for Touring. And the weight negates any off road ability of such bikes anyway. We really have to go backwards to come up with real Adventure Bikes ie 170ish Kerb weight machines. These are just touring bikes in a Dual Sport Fancy dress.
Great comprehensive discussion. Sir, whats your view of characteristics of v-twin engine of 650 vs parallel twin config of 800? Or it doesn't really matter?
