More people will buy the Thar now. :-) Comparing the Thar and the Jimny doesn't make any sense unless you actually go off-road. - On-road - the Thar's presence and performance will be more obviously exciting. The Jimny will be okay enough for those who want to drive to where the off-road. Again two very different moods and needs. But, in this case, the Jimny can't replace the Thar. - If the Thar's off-road potential excited you, the Jimny will make you laugh with joy. They are too different moods - the Thar is more serious and forceful. The Jimny is more of a light-hearted and light-footed machine. It glides over stuff. The Thar ploughs through. I hope you find the mood and the opportunity to experience what the Jimny is really about. Jimny Updates! - An open top Jimmy could be prepped for the Indian Army as a special use case. But, not happening for you and me. - Don't wait for a cheaper rear-wheel drive or two-wheel drive not planned. So, now, Jimny or no?
Even though the Thar has the performance for an exciting drive, I think it’s bouncy suspension would limit its comfortable cruising speed. With the Jimny , the power is much lesser but if it’s on road suspension characteristics are better than the Thar, it might be more comfortable as far as cruising at 90-100 km/hr is concerned.
I generally don't like people sitting & talking about the stuff in an automotive related videos but listening to these two men talking about everyday vehicles is such a pleasant experience. The chemistry b/w them is amazing which is what makes this channel rule above others. Gives me Jeremy Clarkson & James May vibes. Love both of them!! Love from Bengaluru!!♥♥
I feel it suits the hill cities quite well, the small size is easier to park and negotiate on narrow roads in say Shimla, just hoping the automatic works well there.
As a Thar owner riding mostly in Pune's crazy traffic, I have never found the size problematic. I find it thrilling to drive in traffic, and even zig-zagging can be a fun affair. If you understand the machine, any car can be a fun experience for you.
You guys had one job and you always do it way better then any1 out there. Btw visual feel of MotorInc videos are treat and soothing for eyes apart from the First impressions shared. MotorInc got some serious styling guy for Both Shumi and Kartikey. 🤜🤛😍
This genre of reviewing the motor vehicles whether 2 or 4 wheelers is going to go distances... No nonsense stuff, just practical talks achieving bullseye... Kudos to you both...
Jimny will be a solid option for some pockets/parts of India. e.g., 1. Jungle safaris - as their Gypsy's are now old; 2. Himachal & Ladakh - as self drive rental option; 3. Himachal, Ladakh, J&K, North East & Tea estates in south - a great option for locals due to Maruti's localisation
I think Jimny as a value for money off-roader, without compromising much on practicality of a family car....more like something in between....and with more fun 😊
I got my Jimny Zeta MT in December, 2023 n drive it 1500 km and it is my a primary vehicle, not on daily basis but mostly on weekends. According to me, it's not the any regular maruti suzuki car. Maruti suzuki has done a great job to make this Vehicle 👏 its an extraordinary Car with very distinctive looks with iconic history, a very good refined engine and widely spreaded suzuki service networks. Reasons To like it: 1. It's my 1st 4*4 vehicle before that i never drive any 4*4 or RWD....its feels a lot better than any of FWD cars. 2. Really fortunate that I got it under 12 lakh, at this price range you can't find any car that has 4*4 with body on frame structure in india. 3. Till today we don't have any crash test rate but I'm pretty sure that the ladder frame won't be smash like most of monocoque chassis. 4. 5 speed MT is more fuel ⛽️ efficient than 4 speed AT and you can rev it up to 5K rpm. 5. Jimny looks so charming 😍, cute and feels more mechanical than any other car present in Indian market. Reasons to Not like it: 1. You always have to push the Auto engine start/stop button before entering into bumper to bumper traffic...if not every time engine turned off as well as the AC. 2. The car should have seat load sensors otherwise it beaps every time. 3. If you are very Milage sensitive person than its not for you (both MT and AT)...it drinks juice a lot than other suzuki. Other than this, i like ...no...no, i adore my jimny a lot 💛 Verdicts: Love it or hate it, but I'm sure you can't ignore it 😉 #jimnylovers
Once again a thought provoking video guys. I love the conversational style. Jimny will build its market over next couple of years as people realize how well put together the vehicle is and how sorted the ride is and people realize that there is much more to a vehicle than just its size. Jimny is a much more polished product than a Thar ever was. The ownership experience is going to be much more soothing because remember it has been on the road for last 3 years globally and it has got rave reviews everywhere. For people like me who currently own a Gypsy (2016 Gypsy King), it will be a nice addition. Although I must add that my Gypsy is going nowhere. I live in Himachal (four weeks in a year) and I can't think of a better vehicle for hills. Its light, narrow, has adequate power and has all the gizmos that I would ever want and then some. I had high hopes from Thar but it is still a work in progress. As far as mileage is concerned, as long as it gives me 10kmpl, I'll be more than happy.
Guys, coming back after 11 months to get some updates on this. This was, and perhaps still, the only video which talked about the 'lifestyle' aspect of the vehicle at launch.
I see this car becoming a favourite in Gurgaon, just like the Thar has. With the amount of degraded roads, waterlogging, and narrow roads, the Jimny can become the more capable and premium Alto/Celerio. Can't wait to see the off-road enthusiasts in the city go mad with this little car!
Fantastic review format. I booked and then un-booked after the price was announced. I used to drive the old Scorpio, and everyone inside would whine about the body roll and pitching motion every time I braked. The Jimny will be more of that (perhaps not the pitching motion, given the light engine). I would have re-taught myself to live with body roll, lazy steering, and a 4-speed auto IF the price had been 2 or 3 lakhs lower. Not going to spend almost 17Lakhs for a car no one other than the driver will love, and that too only on a once-in-five-year trip to Leh.
This new format is testament to the fact that all a good review needs is two guys, a room, crystal clear thinking and the child-like love for automobiles. Open up a subscription-tier soon, fellas. I'd love to back this effort with my hard-earned ₹₹₹.
#sizecompensation is a real thing! So non the less, I think a comparison of jimny, thar, lord alto and brezza makes a lot of sense. Will be waiting for a full size video on this. BTW great evolution from full length podcast of super meteor 650 and ioniq 5. Really loved to see the additional bits of car drive, but maybe having a few more shots would have been nicer to see (idk maybe there was an embargo or something else). Just sharing!
The question is can they really make a scaled model of the Jimny?? (just kidding) ... The First impression video is done preciously.... Kudos to you guys...
Finally got a chance to take the Jimny AT for a spin here. And let me get the main USP out of the way, the ride is simply brilliant. Absolutely epic! I deliberately took it over some stones and potholes and the Jimny just glides over them. In a lot of ways, it reminded me of the ride in a Crysta. And I absolutely loved the compact footprint and the steering feels nice too. The turning radius is that of a boat and it was quite the circus when I took it into a small petrol station especially with that fuel lid on the driver's side. :) Though, what I absolutely hated was the outdated 4 speed AT, the gears are all very tall to compensate for the lack of ratios and it feels really laborious and not pleasant at all if one wants to go a little fast. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to drive the Jimny at higher speeds, it feels good sitting at 80 kmph and that's fine by me, but the acceleration or rather the lack of it is dangerous in this day and age. It is a shame as I quite like the tough little car and I can live with that engine, but not the 4 speed automatic. Maruti should do something about it.
I drove my relative's Jimny (Manual) to Nainital and Kedarnath from Delhi with 3 people and alot of luggage.. Let me tell you it's hell of fun to drive in the mountains.. You'll feel the uncomfortable nature of it in the city and maybe on the highway.. but if you compare it to the brezza and other maruti cars with 1.5L engine let me tell you it pulls really nice.. you can't drive it post 100kmph because it unsettles a bit during lane change but it is much better than any other ladder on frame SUV. It stays planted, it's comfortable, and once you go off road, you'll notice a big smile on your face because it is just so much fun.. So if you want to buy one for city use i wouldn't suggest it but if you want to go off road and like to have fun then go for it.. Even the pricing is corrected now with the discounts and everything
I have a Jimny, 3K odd kilometres, the engine is not underpowered per se. It’s the same K15B as we have been getting on other Maruti cars however, the automatic really saps some power out of it. It’s best to go with the manual and get a good throttle controller to adjust the response from the throttle. With the small changes, the Jimny is a fun car to Drive. Both On (with its own flavour that is) and off-road. Not to mention the endless customisation options. (For example, The storage problems are fixable in around 3K thanks to the aftermarket ecosystem) Don’t compare it to other cars. It has its own charm. It’s a car you build a relationship with. You understand it, compromise in certain things. But it rewards you in ways you will never expect. Also, Don’t go by reviews. It’s more than the sum of its parts. Go and test drive it and you’ll know if it’s for you or not. Happy driving! 🎉
Comparing Jimny with the Thar 3 door is not really fair I think because if and when the 5 door Thar comes it will be much more expensive than the Jimny. (like Kartikeya said Mahindra played the right game with the RWD Thar). I would probably still choose Thar over this as a secondary car and that's why I wish they brought the 3 door version (4x4 cars don't make sense to me as a primary car if you are going off-roading once in a blue moon) Love the content. Out of topic but ever plan on making a video comparing the numbers of how much bike manufacturers sell big bikes in other markets vs India, just curious because they sell these bikes probably only to enthusiasts there as well as here and I am lazy to do the research myself 😂
Shumi is older, thinks younger while Karthik is younger & thinks older😂….very interesting conversation & we could listen to you guys talk for hours. ❤❤
So basically it is one dimensional. Once Thar will get the 4 door version it will be more appealing for the aspiring family person. BTW, Schumi is so precise with his questions
Not necessarily. Most vehicles that take a stand (in the sense of doing one thing really well) aren't the most practical, but usually very memorable and more likely to create powerful emotions.
Jimny’s narrow size is blessing for hilly areas such as Uttarakhand, Himanchal, J&K, North east states. Jimny’s lightweight and solid axil makes is a serious offroader made for extreme offroads as solid axil makes it more reliable offroader.
The Jimny is a segment in itself. I think comparing it to a Thar isn't fair. I had a "touch and feel" of the vehicle, not driven ot yet, just before the launch. It was on display for 3 days at the NEXA showroom and having owned a Gypsy (MG410), I have no doubts that this is the spiritual successor to the Gypsy. I was impressed with the space management of the vehicle. What was also impressive was the ground clearance, yet keeping the overall height of the vehicle under control and it still manages to provide adequate headroom inside the cabin. I'm a shade over 6 feet tall. Speaking of the cabin, that place is just impractical for me. The first thing I do once inside my car is remove my phone and purse from my person and put them in the storage bins. This car has none. Atleast in the Gupsy, there was a tray below the glove box to put your nick-nacks. I liked Shumi's suggestion to wear cargoes to have more storage. But I can't wear cargoes to office. 😂 I think the Jimny is a niche within a niche. It will be appreciated by a class of people who can really eke out the real potential of this car and that is its go anywhere capability. Unfortunately there aren't too many people like that to make this a sales chart champion and I know Maruti also knows this fact.
the jimny seems to be the perfect car for people like me who dont really like driving bigger cars, but want to do/ learn some proper offroading. ive ridden the smaller jimny in the UK and it was like a mountaim goat, it struggled in some higher inclines and in bigger ruts, just add some wider tires and route planning will make it a pretty serious machine.
People compare it with Thar.. Here’s my analogy from the world of motorcycles… It’s like Himalayan (Thar) vs Xpulse (Jimny) Himalayan 1. Heavy 2. Torquey 3. Feels substantial (big) 4. More engine capacity and power and torque 5. Good cruiser 6. If it gets stuck in mud or slush, better have backup Xpulse 1. Lighter 2. Peppy enough to glide over stuff. 3. Feels small 4. Less power, smaller engine but peppy for off-road and city 5. Bad cruiser 6. If it gets stuck, you need few people to just push it out ;)
Got the same experience as the videos of 'Talking Cars' Malayalam, where two vehicle enthusiasts speaks freely what they feel about a vehicle. Awesome video guys.
Ahh, Finally got a chnace to hear the motoring gods. I like the way Jimmny was putup, it was kinda podcast which I loved. thank you Motorinc and team. I feel this vehicle will be good for Northen India (himachal, Utarrakhand and the other hilly regions were Gypsy allwas dominated. its a vehicle that has its own segment that is what I feel.
AP! Good to see you in the comments again! Thanks for watching the video! Your views on the Jimny resonate with many others. People are thinking of the Jimny as the spiritual successor to the Gypsy. One imagines the weight on the shoulders of the Jimny, no?
1st comment 3rd view 😂 Jimny is a Mountain GOAT It handles off road situation better than thar Its better only buy as 2nd vehicle or for people living in north india
Almost every point mentioned by K is, well, on point. Having spent time with the previous-gen Jimmy in the UAE, I can (as a small-time motoring journalist/writer) tell you that this small and unassuming SUV can truly surprise you! While the new model looks like a miniaturized G-Wagon, nothing about its off-roadability is anywhere close to being pretentious. As many others who are smarter than me have said, “it’s like a small but agile mountain goat.” While the pricing in India is sorta ridiculous, I kinda get it. This wasn’t meant to be a mass-market model, so, fair enough. But, if you truly loved the Gypsy (Jimny in multiple other markets) and what it stood for, you’re bound to love the new Jimny. The Jimny is full of character and charm. In many ways, it’s a miniature Gelandewagen! What’s not to love about that!
Some Qs for Maruti that I feel were missed: 1) Are factory lockers offered? 2) Will the 3 door ever be on offer down the line? 3) What is the max size tire upgrade possible without body cutting? That narrow wheel well doesn't look suited for it. This format would suit a sit-down with someone from Maruti or Suzuki who can go over in gritty detail all the features of the All Grip Pro system. Nexa still clueless when the car might be available for test drive in Poona.
Hey Avi! Thanks for bringing that up. What we can tell you for now - 2) That is not planned for India. A lot of the international accessories will be direct fit. We will enquire about these aspects too.
Here's something that you probably don't know! There's a circular from the Ministry of forest & environment, urging forest departments across the country to encourage safari operators to be ready to adopt the Jimny open-top version for providing wildlife safari in national parks, (to get rid of the decades old jypsy cars). So, I think there might be an open top version coming, hopefully sometime soon
KS, this is not complaining, i bought bs3 Himalayan after watching your hard core enthusiasts review. I sold my bike 2 yrs bavk☠️. So eveyone out here, its yours hard earned money, just TC
I really like this kind of conversation, which doesn’t feel like scripted reviews. When you think about it, this is the exactly the kind of discussion that people have before purchasing a vehicle or deciding it. So, I hope that you folks keep this segment going for in-depth review. Some people might find it too long to consume, so you can summarise main points in a different video, which may be scripted.
So I think I have 1st jimny in madhya pradesh. After driving (AT, DT )it for a few kms. My father (65y), who Is surgeon by profession and hard to convince is very happy with the jimny. I don’t know why He compared jimny with Qualis. ( we have had experienced few different cars in past). So overall jimny is worth.
Just saw the Gimny this morning on the road and I had mistaken it to a Tata Ace truck with shiny colors... It was that small... I don't think it will attract potential Thar customers. I think the observations given in this video are damn right. You need to drive it to get convinced.
The Thar Vs Jimny Debate would never end. I am happy that, we are seeing niche products like the Jimny in Indian Market. People buy Thar for the Persona and Mahindra also has 4X2 Thar for the people who wants to show off. I have seen people putting a 4X4 Monogram on their 4X2 lol. 5 Years down the line, i might buy a second hand Jimny to use it to go off-road and This one being a Suzuki, it would be reliable and not to forget about the Maruti's Service Network. As far as This podcast goes, I can endlessly watch you guys discussing automobiles.
Just saw the Jimny in person. Do agree with karthik as it is not intimidating vehicle to drive. By looking at it we can say it is easy going one. Need to go for test drive though to understand the vehicle.
As a zen carb user past 25 years and still leaving modern 4 wheelers in the rvm.. 😁😜 I think 5 door jymny is practical and not undersized.. My only complaint is torq should be more to pull on tough terrains. I am spoiled by pull of 42nm of my RE TBTS500.
The earlier Jimn-ies which I have driven in the '70s in Australia and the Persian Gulf countries/principalities way back in the '70s were rough/tough 4WD with solid axles for use in and around remote dry bulk cargo and general cargo sea-ports, though not at tanker terminals or the then "developed" countries. They could be driven to a good height of iron-ore or coal piles in stockyards, for example, for sampling; and also to go inland where roads didn't really exist (for wadi bashing, or if there was a revolution or civil war, there were the older Range Rovers, Land Cruisers and Pajeros, btw). And yes, there used to be a really cute ad for the Jimny then, about a guy bringing one home and parking it inside the house . . . to a lovely drum-beat and a surprised looking wife.
shumi looks smashing…! i never knew tat guy who was always on leathers or t-shirt on bikes and scooters can look tis stunning and talk so much about cars. and that too so much informations on off road and stuffs.! i’m impressed man. and the most surprising thing is i nvr know he is capable of having beard.😱 y the hell u were roaming around with that clean shaved face and military fade hair all these years bro! and the conversation was awesome. u guys touched up on every single point i needed to knw from a jimny review before booking. karthik, my fav automotive journalist as always clear on points. thanks for not rushing to post first online and taking time and making a worthy first impression.
1:00 Historically, Roma people have been called "gypsies" and they have been persecuted by colonials. Even today they face discrimination in europe. Roma people were originally from India and still follow some India traditions and customs
MS can launch base 4*2 variants of jimny to appeal to a larger audience & They need to launch brezza with 1.2L Turbocharged engine It'll reduce taxes and prices Increase the performance (brezza is made for urban environment) and just straight up boost the sales
Although I'm not currently in a market for an off roader, I love its character and persona, I can't put a price on that, similar to a Ford Bronco where people who generally shop at higher segment look at it because it's COOL! Also, the aftermarket is amazing for Jimny! Finally, a new Suzuki car that is aspirational and appeals to your heart! Would love to see Swift Sport in India...
I had the 2021 3 door manual Jimny in Australia for an year and the car is little box of surprise. Its a proper 4x4 built for a purpose and it does surprisingly well when you offroad. It is small and easy thing to manoeuvre and easy to recover when you did get stuck while offroading, was a no fuss off roader even if it lacked power. The on-road performance takes a compromise and the lack of power shows up on highway over 100 as it is super slow but the in the city is it is fun and easy to drive. Also the build quality is solid although this was Made in Japan. Coming from this experience, I was excited when the 5 door was launched in India and was eager to do a blind purchase. But I was very skeptical about the added weight with the 5 door to the engine which was already lacking in the 3 door. I took it for a test drive in India, I didn't find the Jimny to be lacking in power as you dont get to drive as fast but the 5 door was sufficient and perfect for city use and short long drives. Where it let me down was the initial pricing and the cabin space cause the 5 door variant felt cramped compared to the 3 door...I am 186cm and I felt comfortable in my 3 door Jimny. Also the lack of torque in the 5 door variant was noticeable due to the added weight which made it feel very sluggish at times and it only felt just sufficient enough on the 3 door variant which just weighs just over a ton. The ride quality was actually good, easy to handle the Indian roads better than the Thar which I ended up choosing over the Jimny. The Thar feels better put together than the Jimny with more sensible engine options. Avoid the AT variant at all cost if you have a choice. The 4 speed gear box combined with a low power engine is just a big let down. One of the reason I chose the manual over the AT while I purchased the 3 door, and it is indifferent with the 5 for variant. Go for the manual and if practicality matters, the Jimny is a better for day to day use with the new pricing although the road presence of the Thar is just unbeatable.
Love this new format of discussion. It's like a trailer before a deep down analysis. Jimny is cool.. more of a rich people toy.. But I am glad maruti is moving out of comfort zone, and catering needs of off-road enthusiasts...
Good discussion. But... To my mind, Maruti 800 was the best Suzuki model which performed beyond belief (and to Suzuki's incredulity) in India. I personally owned 2 variants (non AC and AC) over 5 years in the early 90s. At 166cm, 65 kg, 45 years age, I single handedly pushed my tank empty 800 for 800 meters to the pump! Me and 1 other, pulled the 800 out of a rain drain! I carted 5 people Bombay-Goa return thrice with no vehicle disability. My Maruti (& my erstwhile Standard Herald from Ranikhet to Madras & return thrice) tackled dry and wet and boggy roads in summer and flooding monsoons, leaving behind Ambashankars, Fiats (delco gheela ho gaya) & some others. I would like the 800 to have been a 4wheel drive too. Period. Sasta, sundar, thikaoo. Mileage kitna deti hai? Kaafi hai pappe!!😅 Motoring business, venality and politics prevented the Herald-Vitesse 1360 cc engine being sold in India (and slaughtering Hindustan Motors products), but such is the way of things...
Great conversation. Myths, doubts, logics, expectations, realities, usabilities and many more things about this little beauty have been well taken and cleared. ❤
Tough competition to lord alto :D :P Jokes apart, i liked this segment, looking for more such videos :) I miss ThisConnect, this is kind of baby version of it .. which makes you will connected with you guys :)
We are eager to put the Jimny through a full blown test. If you get your Jimmy before we get our test vehicle, tell us about your experience of driving and more importantly owning one.
It's always a delight to listen when Shumi & Kartikeya have a conversation. The first ride impressions as a discussion is excellent. I absolutely enjoyed the first ride discussion of the RE Super Meteor and the Hyundai Ioniq 5. What's special about this video: 1. It is no longer a part of ThisConnect podcasts and is a separate thread itself, that's best. 2. The setup is super soothing, the huge mics with their stands gone, making it even more cleaner without compromising the audio quality. 3. The visuals of the vehicle in between the discussion makes the video even more enjoyable.
I've always associated Gypsy with the Army & Air-Force, & films on Kashmir glamourized them, unfortunately, for their kidnapping potential. And it was a must for people living in Coorg, even if they moved to Mysore. Plus, its colour: a white gypsy stood for "don't mess with the mountain man" vibe; my history teacher, a woman had one, & we were in awe of her. A white Thar hasn't been able to achieve the same oomph factor. From a scriptwriter's perspective, Thar would make sense now though. The Jimny feels more like what the military police might use: within the four walls of a base. And with reasonably good roads in Coorg, we have seen estate owners switch to XUV 700. The Gimny might be the answer to ferry tourists to farm houses, rather than the down to earth & erstwhile Willy & Mahindra Jeeps.
Not at all - they were very useful - while being driven on stock tyre pressures! And these are highway-terrain tyres. Not even All-terrain tyres. So even if you stick to the same size and just go for a more off-road oriented tyre you will get significant benefits.
from 4:58 to 5:06 - its on a loop guys.. its gonna be the meme of the year for MotorInc.. hey editor note these clips and maybe yearend you can make a montage of these clips
Love the new format and the discussion - clean - professional and crystal clear on all the big questions straight up!😊 On a separate note: Hate that Enid Blyton books are being re-written to be politically correct. Literally all writing is written in context to the time period it is written in… why mess with that? Just a thought. Same with naming conventions. I’m not saying be obnoxious or irreverent, but can we possibly do anything anymore without offending someone or the other.
Hullo CD! Thank you! And, yes, the change is hard to digest. But, given the books are read by children the challenge of setting context for that period would be quite difficult. - wouldn’t it? Just thinking out aloud. We as adults can make sense of it and compartmentalise it. As for the last bit - God help us! 😝
@Motorinc I’m not sure if someone had already asked, but here it goes. Please review it from the perspective that whether it can be used as the only car in a family.
@shumi is great with bikes but never thought he knew so many things on cars specially the lifestyle ones.......also this format is better small and brief.......on the other hand the comparison is also on point aka thar and mini size g wagon
Ya'll are gaming youtube shorts as if you came up with the idea. Kudos! One of the best implementations of two for the price of one (well, multiple shorts out of one video). Ya'll have an amazing team! I see Fortnine level articulations with the decency of treating the audience as 'adults'.
The biggest USP over any other car is it’s Reliability, the fact that I can take it to places where roads end. And the amazing ASA of MSA is silver lining. The Jimny has proven to be a amazing reliable buddy across all markets, I have seen people comparing it with G wagons and expensive LR and RR’s. I guess this car will be stand the test of time.
Always the best from the best.. i meant tht for Shumi and Kartikeya. Hope to see u guys do a "mountain goat" comparison between the Jimny and the Alto.
More people will buy the Thar now. :-)
Comparing the Thar and the Jimny doesn't make any sense unless you actually go off-road.
So, now, Jimny or no?
ok 😇
Practicality is point to keep in mind. :)
Jimny is off my list because of the price. Now it's going to be a hatchback + adventure bike 😅
Jimny will shine in mountains where roads are narrow jimny will glide like butter. Its a capable offroader.
Heya Arun! Right back at you ❤️! Thank you for being here!
I feel it suits the hill cities quite well, the small size is easier to park and negotiate on narrow roads in say Shimla, just hoping the automatic works well there.
Yes! The Jimny's size would certainly be of help while driving on narrow roads.
Congrats for hanging in there. Finally there's a non- BS motoring channel that India can be proud of.
Size of the Thar is not aspiration, it is compensation . 💀💀
Shumi is on another level😂
Hahahaha
Yup, i know that owners who can relate. I have wagon r though.
As a Thar owner riding mostly in Pune's crazy traffic, I have never found the size problematic. I find it thrilling to drive in traffic, and even zig-zagging can be a fun affair. If you understand the machine, any car can be a fun experience for you.
Wish the Thar was wide as the old thar or we bit lesser..Simply hate the width of my new Thar
Who all are here after the massive 2 lakh price drop in Jimny 😊
@@Pankaj-sindwani Here after the 3L drop. Got it… patience or laziness pays .. Well sometimes😹

Hey Akshay! Appreciate it! 🙏🏾
I always wanted to say this about the makeover of the channel
Jimny proves that you can be extremely capable off road without having to look unnecessarily menacing. Its like Jason Satham in some way :)
Jason Statham doesn’t look menacing! 😟
@@motorinc Does not have the bulk, right?
@@MrMegran brother what!!!?😮
Saw almost all the reviews available online for Jimny. But listening to you both is at a whole different level. 👍
Much appreciated! ♥️

All things aside, seems like the perfect car for Bangalore roads and traffic for the said demographic.
Roads have gotten worse in your neck of the woods? 😟
The Jimny's size, off-road abilities and Maruti Suzuki's expansive service network are the big pluses.
I think Jimny as a value for money off-roader, without compromising much on practicality of a family car....more like something in between....and with more fun 😊
Oh my God 😅
I loved it.This is much cooler than a conventional review.
Pls do this with other cars too.
Thank you! Well, that's the plan!
So it's like the CRF300 of the car world. Lightweight and fantastic off-roader.
I got my Jimny Zeta MT in December, 2023 n drive it 1500 km and it is my a primary vehicle, not on daily basis but mostly on weekends.
According to me, it's not the any regular maruti suzuki car. Maruti suzuki has done a great job to make this Vehicle 👏
its an extraordinary Car with very distinctive looks with iconic history, a very good refined engine and widely spreaded suzuki service networks.
Reasons To like it:
1.
Reasons to Not like it:
1.
Other than this, i like ...no...no, i adore my jimny a lot 💛
Verdicts:
Love it or hate it, but I'm sure you can't ignore it 😉

shumi is the best critic when its comes to car review ! 😄❤
We'll think of putting him behind the wheel of a car and getting him to review one. That might take some pushing and prodding, though.
Jimny is the better name, not for political reasons but the sheer sonority, unpopular opinion,
It’s your opinion, fairly shared! Thank you!
I agree
Indeed very well engineered size and of height of jimny never concerned me,
On other hand capabilities and reliability wise it sets a new benchmark.
Thank you o King! Good to hear from you! And wish you many more awesome drives - you painted a lovely picture.
Guys, coming back after 11 months to get some updates on this. This was, and perhaps still, the only video which talked about the 'lifestyle' aspect of the vehicle at launch.
Thank you @pawasdayal4158.
Oh, it'll certainly encourage a lot of buyers to venture into the exciting world of driving off-road.
Glad to see you both together. My absolute favourites since my school 2010-11 times
Hello Sachin! ❤️
Hullo again! Totally understandable! WhT are you using now?
@@motorinc 2020 Elantra. A very different driving experience from the Scorpio. Predictable brakes for one. 😊
This new format is testament to the fact that all a good review needs is two guys, a room, crystal clear thinking and the child-like love for automobiles. Open up a subscription-tier soon, fellas. I'd love to back this effort with my hard-earned ₹₹₹.
Wow! Thanks FC! That's a huge compliment!
What a beautiful set. What a beautiful conversation. Really enjoyed this one. So much insight that others don't generally cover.
Heya Daksh! As always - grateful!
I owned the very first Jimny in my City..
Boy.. I just loved it❤
Congratulations!! Wishing you happy and safe miles.
Great point! Also, we will be making a more detailed video on the Jimny as soon as possible.
The question is can they really make a scaled model of the Jimny?? (just kidding) ... The First impression video is done preciously.... Kudos to you guys...
It might be possible for them to make a scale model.
Thank you for liking the video.
Putting everything aside THESE TWO SITTING FOR A CONVERSATION ❤ MAKES ME FEEL IN
SHUMI ❤ TALKING ABOUT CAR 🚨
There's more to come. Stay tuned!
Coming back to this video, its remarkable to see how this format has evolved beautifully
Thanks for being with us @harshchaudhary3780
U guys are setting a new trend in auto journalism.... more than a reviews.... it about experiencing and experimenting.
Thank you for being here with us!
I just realised motorinc and talking cars have the same energy. Since talking cars are on a hiatus good to see we have really good quality car content

Though, what I absolutely hated was the outdated 4 speed AT, the gears are all very tall to compensate for the lack of ratios and it feels really laborious and not pleasant at all if one wants to go a little fast.
Thank you for sharing your experience @shubhamkaushik5231
a comparison between Jimny and the OG Gypsy... just for the fun of it... Also, love this format... let's hope more fun stuff is in the line...
That's a great story idea. Oh yes! We plan to make more videos in this format.
(For example, The storage problems are fixable in around 3K thanks to the aftermarket ecosystem)
Don’t compare it to other cars.
Thanks for sharing your perspective! Happy new year TRK!
Comparing Jimny with the Thar 3 door is not really fair I think because if and when the 5 door Thar comes it will be much more expensive than the Jimny. (like Kartikeya said Mahindra played the right game with the RWD Thar). I would probably still choose Thar over this as a secondary car and that's why I wish they brought the 3 door version (4x4 cars don't make sense to me as a primary car if you are going off-roading once in a blue moon)
Love the content.
Out of topic but ever plan on making a video comparing the numbers of how much bike manufacturers sell big bikes in other markets vs India, just curious because they sell these bikes probably only to enthusiasts there as well as here and I am lazy to do the research myself 😂
Hahahaha Nonetheless, thanks for the recommendation! And, thank you!
Shumi is older, thinks younger while Karthik is younger & thinks older😂….very interesting conversation & we could listen to you guys talk for hours. ❤❤
Yes, true
Shumi talking 20 mins abt a car. How the tables turn😂
It was hard to get him stay put. But, someone had to do it.
True that!
As an aspiring automotive journalist, this is such a refresh on a traditional review! I hope to get an opportunity to work with you guys one day!
😁❤️
Missing talking cars so much....But you guys giving same vibes ...Thank you ☺️
Our pleasure!
I think the Jimny is a niche within a niche. It will be appreciated by a class of people who can really eke out the real potential of this car and that is its go anywhere capability. Unfortunately there aren't too many people like that to make this a sales chart champion and I know Maruti also knows this fact.
Good points!
The conversation is so focused! You guys ROCK!!
Thank you!
2 Classy guys running the Classy channel🎉🎉 legends of automobiles...
They are a class apart
@@motorinc Four actually, there's a difference of four wheel enthusiasm. Class per each wheel ig 😁
🤣
Love how the conversation was about how it feels than the specs and hard comparisons ❤
the jimny seems to be the perfect car for people like me who dont really like driving bigger cars, but want to do/ learn some proper offroading. ive ridden the smaller jimny in the UK and it was like a mountaim goat, it struggled in some higher inclines and in bigger ruts, just add some wider tires and route planning will make it a pretty serious machine.
We don’t think you will need wider tyres anytime soon, just switch to AT tyres from the HIghway Terrain tyres it gets. 😁
People compare it with Thar..
Here’s my analogy from the world of motorcycles…
It’s like Himalayan (Thar) vs Xpulse (Jimny)
Himalayan
1. Heavy
2. Torquey
3. Feels substantial (big)
4. More engine capacity and power and torque
5. Good cruiser
6. If it gets stuck in mud or slush, better have backup
Xpulse
1. Lighter
2. Peppy enough to glide over stuff.
3. Feels small
4. Less power, smaller engine but peppy for off-road and city
5. Bad cruiser
6. If it gets stuck, you need few people to just push it out ;)
For the most part - agreed. Although the Thar’s performance is quite serious! Which is not the case with the Himalayan. Rest - yes!
Got the same experience as the videos of 'Talking Cars' Malayalam, where two vehicle enthusiasts speaks freely what they feel about a vehicle. Awesome video guys.
Thank you, Aslam! We had fun time discussing the Jimny.
Missing Talking cars🙂

Jimny is a Mountain GOAT
It handles off road situation better than thar
Its better only buy as 2nd vehicle or for people living in north india
Thanks again Utkarsh!

Shumi out here attacking everyone without mercy. Nice to see this side of Shumi

Your honest views are appreciated.
Always!
As many others who are smarter than me have said, “it’s like a small but agile mountain goat.”
While the pricing in India is sorta ridiculous, I kinda get it.
Thanks for your perspective Suraj!
Some Qs for Maruti that I feel were missed:
1) Are factory lockers offered?
I did a test drive, what he is saying is exactly my opinion.
KS, this is not complaining, i bought bs3 Himalayan after watching your hard core enthusiasts review. I sold my bike 2 yrs bavk☠️. So eveyone out here, its yours hard earned money, just TC
Oh? Tell us more?
@@motorinc RE means head ache motorcycling.
Thank you for the suggestions!
Forget about jimny, I'm so glad that you guys are back in this podcast format
Thank you! ThisConnect S02 is also coming soon!
Congratulations! We are glad to see that you'll are having a great time.
Just saw the Gimny this morning on the road and I had mistaken it to a Tata Ace truck with shiny colors... It was that small... I don't think it will attract potential Thar customers. I think the observations given in this video are damn right. You need to drive it to get convinced.
Jimny to Ace! 😳
Hullo! Wish you the best for that plan! Would love to see it happen. And thank you! ❤️
Just saw the Jimny in person. Do agree with karthik as it is not intimidating vehicle to drive. By looking at it we can say it is easy going one. Need to go for test drive though to understand the vehicle.
Hello! Do let us know what you think when you drive it.
You won’t feel the need for more when you go off-road! You have to try it there.

Glad you think so! ♥️
MS can launch base 4*2 variants of jimny to appeal to a larger audience
&
They need to launch brezza with 1.2L Turbocharged engine
It'll reduce taxes and prices
Increase the performance (brezza is made for urban environment) and just straight up boost the sales
Seems practical but will they?!
@@surajkraghavan2190 idk about WILL they
But they NEED to
But they haven't realised :(
From what we know 2 wheel drive variants aren’t planned for now. Brezza 1.2 won’t happen. The Boosterjet could have - but it’s expensive too. 🙄

I really love ur videos u put a lot of efforts in them and it helps alot in buying a new vehicle thank you !
Thank you very much @ksnapperrocks254.
Yessssss!!!! With you!
Guys enjoyed the chat . Coming from a happy Thar user for 25000 odd kms . 😊
Of any 4 wheeler I think this little Jimny would come closest to being on a motorcycle, it’s so small.
Love this new format of discussion. It's like a trailer before a deep down analysis. Jimny is cool.. more of a rich people toy.. But I am glad maruti is moving out of comfort zone, and catering needs of off-road enthusiasts...
Indeed! It’s a small step, hopefully a sign of things to come!
Kaafi hai pappe!!😅
Motoring business, venality and politics prevented the Herald-Vitesse 1360 cc engine being sold in India (and slaughtering Hindustan Motors products), but such is the way of things...
4 wheel drive 800! Insane idea! Hahaha. Thanks for sharing your car stories. You seem to have lived a colourful life. More details are needed. :-)
Great conversation. Myths, doubts, logics, expectations, realities, usabilities and many more things about this little beauty have been well taken and cleared. ❤

The first report is cool... looking forward to hear more untill then it will be in my garage BcoZ I am convinced...thanks Guys
We are eager to put the Jimny through a full blown test. If you get your Jimmy before we get our test vehicle, tell us about your experience of driving and more importantly owning one.
A very fair analysis of the latest by Maruti. A vehicle certainly not for an ordinary urban family.
Thanks!
It's always a delight to listen when Shumi & Kartikeya have a conversation. The first ride impressions as a discussion is excellent. I absolutely enjoyed the first ride discussion of the RE Super Meteor and the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
What's special about this video:
Thank you PN! Glad to hear this from you!
Hullo MB! The white Gypsy connotation is interesting! We’ll keep it in mind.
What's your take on the small tire size it gets and does it effect its performance during off-road.
Thanks for asking the most important question
Not at all - they were very useful - while being driven on stock tyre pressures! And these are highway-terrain tyres. Not even All-terrain tyres. So even if you stick to the same size and just go for a more off-road oriented tyre you will get significant benefits.
from 4:58 to 5:06 - its on a loop guys.. its gonna be the meme of the year for MotorInc.. hey editor note these clips and maybe yearend you can make a montage of these clips
Haha Noting!
Love the new format and the discussion - clean - professional and crystal clear on all the big questions straight up!😊
On a separate note:
Hate that Enid Blyton books are being re-written to be politically correct.
@Motorinc
I’m not sure if someone had already asked, but here it goes.
Please review it from the perspective that whether it can be used as the only car in a family.
If you are young and single or you are single. Sure. But you’d have to be willing to make the other practical compromises discussed in the video.
Shumi the logical, Kartik the wanderer... this was good fun... thanks guys..
Glad you liked it!
@shumi is great with bikes but never thought he knew so many things on cars specially the lifestyle ones.......also this format is better small and brief.......on the other hand the comparison is also on point aka thar and mini size g wagon
Thanks you! Shumi is full of surprises!
This was a fun discussion, keep it up
Thank you! Watch out for more MotorINC first videos in the future.
Good to see both in the same frame again after a while
Glad you like seeing them together. There's more to come.
Finally you guys are back together 📈
The best combo!
OMG, what a fantastic makeover, Shumi! 🙌🏾
Thank you! 🤗
Ya'll are gaming youtube shorts as if you came up with the idea. Kudos! One of the best implementations of two for the price of one (well, multiple shorts out of one video). Ya'll have an amazing team! I see Fortnine level articulations with the decency of treating the audience as 'adults'.
Thanks, Vardhan! Glad you like our videos. ❤️
Awesome! Glad to know what you think.
Always the best from the best.. i meant tht for Shumi and Kartikeya. Hope to see u guys do a "mountain goat" comparison between the Jimny and the Alto.
Thank you SS! What kind of conditions would you like to see the two of them together in?
