    I know that you're probably thinking that Bean to Cup Espresso machines aren't worth considering. Personally, I'm never going to be using one for my morning espresso. But that doesn't mean that there's no use in them, and for a lot of people, learning how to dial in an espresso machine isn't on their list of life goals. The taste doesn't measure up, but I just think we shouldn't go being snobby when people tell us they have one of these things.

    So what do you think? Should I be looking to rename the channel "Home Cafe by Steph"? 😋

    i love this video. i love the bro sis team! just great. and, IT'S HELPFUL. i was thinking of getting a fully automatic - but, now i'm not sure.

      If you're willing to learn, the semi-automatic is better espresso. If you just want coffee, fully auto bean to cups are improving all the time.

    Oh man I just ordered the Scott Slimissimo! I currently have a Dolce Gusto pod machine that makes vile coffee. Surely this is an upgrade from that lol

    Does changing the grinding setting make any/much difference? Also, for anyone watching, Scott who make this machine say *never* adjust the grind setting when the machine is not working. Only move the dial while it is actually grinding.

    • @homecafecharlie

      A small difference. The grinder isn't really espresso capable, it makes something more approximating an americano and probably uses some kind of pressurised filter process to create the crema.

    Many months late to this but if you ever visit your sister again perhaps a review/rundown of that classic ECM she got in her place? Would make great content since everything on the tube is about the new stuff on the market

      Yeah the ECM Giotto is a sweet machine. It has great power and a very industrial feel.

    Hi guys,
    When you look at both cups of espresso at 1:40 they look like their yields are close to each other.
    ECM pulls a decent shot with 17.5 grammes of perfectly ground coffee, since BTC Scott, as you say, pulls a "not that bad" shot with 6-10 grammes only.
    How are BTC machines capable of producing drinkable shots with such a ratio? I'm sure if you pulled an 8-gram shot with ECM you'd get undrinkable piss rather than Scott's espresso. Have you got any clue what the trick of BTC-type machines is?

    • @homecafecharlie
      @homecafecharlie  Год назад

      Yes I think longer shots are generally much easier to drink, lower acidity and gets milder. For sure I struggle to dial in single shots with an espresso ratio

    • @wog9813
      @wog9813 Год назад

      @@homecafecharlie I don't know. For me, shot with a higher ratio goes towards overextraction and gives bitterness, hollow and harsh flavours. Apparently, BTC machines can avoid that trap.

    "[Blind Taste Test]" - goes ahead and places two easy to distinguis cups of coffee in front of the tester without a blindfold 🤡
    Like, literally the first things you mention are "I think you can already tell which one is from here just based on how they look" + "just visually they are very very different" ... c'mon.
    All that aside, nice videography, great idea in and of itself and you also mention important details like the amount of coffee used by each method, which obviously will result in a vastly different beverage. Still, the Bean-to-Cup seemingly manages a somewhat decent extraction hence not horrible taste.

      Lol good point I'll rename it. Made this video years ago when I was a dumdum 😅
