Loved the Afrikaans comment. I have lived for 7 years in SA. Loved my time over there. I am happy you got to get the experience over there. Beautiful people , beautiful country.
A bit off topic. I watched your hand line video. Got enough information to cobble together a hand line. Two hours -- caught a 2kg (5 lbs ) tuna. (Wrote about it in the comments of that video, but you probably don't check those comments.) You're the best Ben. Sure, beginner's luck, and I had the basic components, but I had no clue about how to set up and deploy a hand line until I watched your video. (I'd bought all the gear from Chinese speakers in Taiwan.) Guess I'd better become a Patreon. Count on it. You've certainly earned it.
Wow...beautiful landscape. So similar to Mars. It's so cool what you both have accomplished with your beautiful family and how far you all have come. Ashley makes me crack up when she said, "is that what happened?"...not understanding a word what the gentleman said. 😂😅😂😅 It's so true how certain foreign words may have a similar sound to what we understand. Take this for example...the word "faca" is Portuguese for "KNIFE". Thank you Ben & Ashley for bringing us along in your journey.
There used to be a time when one could not take a car out of the Orange river mouth area. If you drove in, you left it there, because they did not want to risk people smuggling diamonds out. Stunning scenery and landscapes.... Thanks for sharing!
So great to see. That part of South Africa is so beautiful. Back in the mid 90's when my family lived there, we went white water river rafting down the Orange River for 7 days. Such a great memory, sadly I was young so I don't remember too much of it.
From watching you guys over the years sailing and now off-roading 🙂 I never imagined seeing you guys doing this and to top it off, in my very own backyard, lovely sunny Mzansi (S.A.) Yeah, we did that trip as a solo family trip in our Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with our Wilderness off-road trailer that costs a fraction (10%) of what that Bushlapa costs. Those BushLapa trailers are very controversial here in S.A. The ones that loves them and those that hates them (purely from a cost perspective). They are good expedition trailers and have been a great novelty over the last decade but not the best fit for the average South African overlander because there are much more value for money out here and way better offerings where you don't have to break a sweat nor the bank setting up camp. That novelty or love affair for the BushLapa trailer has since deminished. The ones that hate them and from comments that I've seen in the 4x4community are that they just glorified toolboxes on wheels that features a tent 🤣 A home trailer builder once proved that he built this trailer for R85k where it was retailing for R389k at the time. Anyhoo, love your video. BTW, we never had any anxiety about getting punctures as we have Cooper Discoverer ST maxx's 33 inches on and the trailer has Good Year Wrangler silent armour with Kevlar sidewalls 30 inches, all very strong tyres
Exactly like your host explained.... I had a good chuckle now as I am an Afrikaner and got every word he used, lol. So glad you get to tour such a beautiful continent. Very few people get to taste the waters of the great Oranje river and walk the earth where very few has ever been.
Very cool trip. Love it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have found the deserts of the US to have it’s own beauty too. And I find it not unlike being at sea.
13:37 Doing our Afrikaans language proud with those colorful word choices. I love it. I know you are responsible and prepared but pleased you know about the hazardous critters!. Not an expert, Meteorites normally have a lot of metal/iron in them. As the space rock comes in it heats up in our atmosphere and "normally?" breaks up leaving the fragments with a melted outer layer. sorry my brain lost the files I use to watch Meteorite Men it's interesting!.
amazing adventure... loved seeing the kids enjoy themselves too.. fancy bathing in gold ✨ I suppose better than sand in your crack.. lol that black piece looked like coal... im not sure about the scorpions, I had to look away because crawlies give me nightmares... what memories you are making right now... the kids might not remember but they can watch these videos in years to come. imagine for show and tell, talking about visiting a crater site... great footage too and that set up looks comfy, it may not be 5 ✨ but you guys can live anywhere and still be happy...
I like where you are- it is simply one of the most intriguing and fascinating places to spend time in. Not easy to find anything to compare it with. The kids are making a ton of memories with the sand-play. Good luck with the diamonds...An 'interesting' explanation of the meteorite hole...ask a more accurate interpretation. One of the best places for rocks.
I went to Saudi Arabia the Riyadh area and they took us out to find Saudi Diamonds in the mountains out in the desert. We found a few. Actually not real diamonds but the stones cut and shined up look almost like real diamonds. They’d mount them in rings etc for you. Pretty cool!
He sounds like an English speaking South African speaking Afrikaans.🙈That is why he is useing so many $@ words.🙄Somehow people often first learn $@ words in a different language.🤪
Again, you are so brave. I wouldn't be able to relax and not hold the children constantly with all of the venomous snakes and scorpions not to mention all of the other ugly things you didn't mention. WOW!!! I'll just be happy to live vicariously through you.
Cool - But I Highly recommend an off road hitch/coupler like a rock&roll to save possible damage to your frame. 10" jack wheels will help you move your trailer on the dirt - Have fun
flowy ocean or rocky desert just the medium for the cruiser at heart? I couldn't really imagine you guys sitting by the pool all day. :-) Epic episode wishing you the best!
Thats a great rig, it looks like it stands up well in that environment and is very roomy. The rocks look like the Arizona landscape, dry, dusty and hot. We lotd of vulcanic rocks here as well. Silver and Copper mines, no diamonds. :( What a wonderful trip youre on!
Ben and Ash, It's a Land Rover - if it's not leaking, it's LOW. Keep an eye on coolant and oil levels!!! One of those adventures that the videos will be pulled out for decades. And, get a snake bite kit in the first aid kit, and I think I saw a Garmin with a SAR policy for these terrestrial adventures.
Great video. It made me think what type of impact it would have been, and how much it impacted on earths axis. I learnt that Nagasachi & Herishima had some & some volcano's. But another thought is how these find unpopulated areas to hit.
In each of your videos there is always at least one moment where you have us laughing out loud. Thank you for your great sense of humour. Amazing road trip: scenery is magnificent, the camper is nifty, and your experiences always interesting. Take care family. ❤️
Hi guys cool video as usual just been watching DroneScapes channel re Lancaster bombers of WW2 if I'm not mistaken I'm sure it was narrated by Ben? if so well done you are both verry talented.
I would really want a piece of meteor. that one blackened piece may have been a piece. Often they are heavy in nickel and metals. It would be really heavy/dense. Other blackened rocks could just bee the pieces impacted by the meteor. I know you are not supposed to take anything (leave no trace) but just to handle a piece and know it wasnt from our planet would be cool. Thanks for taking us along.
The Richtersveld is one of my favourite places. Last time I was there I watched 2 Cape Cobras swim across the river towards Namibia. Cured me of swimming there. 😂😂😂😂
Bwahahahahaahhaa,, you guys are awesome! you made me burst out laughing in this weeks episode,,, it was brilliant. Ahh,, when he started "explaining" what happened in that crater!!! I am a South African who runs a great little business in Port Moody BC (not too far eh?),, when you guys are back in town I'd love to connect with you, if you ever have the space or time and are ever home in BC,,, In the mean time do you want that translated?/ or have you already gotten that done? hehehhee. My fam and I are huge fans and we've caught every episode for years. PS, When your home I've got all the biltong you'll ever need!
What is this? Well; several things: First; stacking stones (as you probably know ;)) is a sign that someone was there before, so don't forget to stack one on top of it. Together with others, it is a sign of life to others. Second; the crater; Mars will not be 50 years, rather 5-10 years, if not sooner. Technology is moving so fast, might be that AI will soon be more curious than us, who knows!
13:43 "The Fookin rocks are fookin hard to get to! I can't fookin believe we actually fooking got here without flattening a fooking tire!" 😀
13:39 I nearly died laughing! Few languages are so hilariously expressive! In sy moer! 🤣
Definitely an otherly world landscape! Thanks for taking us along.
I love the water but I also love the other side trips. Thank you for taking us along.
How fun. What a great trip! Thanks for bringing us along.
Oh, I love your land videos. Hello from London : - ) xxx
Thank you for sharing. The kids did have fun!!
You folks never disappoint, thanks for sharing another wonderful adventure!

Loved hearing the Afrikaans from my home country!! Love watching you guys adventure with the kids!
Amazing footage, amazing adventure! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Lokl... so good to hear my own language on RUclips... that dude was so funny.😂. "Met ń groot poesterhuid"😂😂😂😂. Awesome episode 👌🏼 👏🏼
Wat is een "poesterhuid" ? De huid van een poes ?
@@pred7949 Hahaha, yeah, probably correct!😂
Lokl😂
Fantastic!!! Thanks for the journey Ben and Ashley, now I can say I've seen a close up of Mars!!!
So great to see. That part of South Africa is so beautiful. Back in the mid 90's when my family lived there, we went white water river rafting down the Orange River for 7 days. Such a great memory, sadly I was young so I don't remember too much of it.
This is great !!!! Thanks for sharing . I really enjoyed the adventure Thanks ❣
Incredible sailing channel!
Nice to see the other angle now and then.
(Bodhi in the dirty Nahoa T-shirt = Epic!)
So awesome!! Much love from the coast of Maine ❤🤙🤙

Really nice to see the kids growing, and nice adventurous video as well, as usual!
What a neat adventure! Thanks for sharing :)

I'am Afrikaans and that F- bomb was not the only bomb in that sentence. That made my day. I love it.
beautiful episode !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very cool trip. Love it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have found the deserts of the US to have it’s own beauty too. And I find it not unlike being at sea.
Cool video, lots of adventures and colourful descriptions!! It’s why we love exploring and adventuring here. Keep the good times rolling. 🙌

Great family time exploring.
so cool! it looks like u hoped onto another planet. u guys do things non of the other sailors do.
Aaarrrg! I couldn't have done this!
This is an amazing backyard adventure and the meteor site is fun to see. It's an unusual landscape to visit.
Man , talk about a dream trip…wow….memories to last a life time……stay safe guys….🫶🏼😄✌️😎
your vids are always a joy .LOVE you and the kids
That Afrikaans he spoke was as rough as the meteor itself- but that's how we roll in SA.......
Africaans is basically Dutch and the local African language. I speak Dutch fluently but did not catch a word of what that man said. LOL.
@@tinacatharinaeden2711 Im glad you did not catch any of it.... It's quite baldly stated and not the best choice of words🤣🤣

The isolation and dust make this video super stressful for me to watch. Way to go for exploring. Amazing
simply epic !!!! Loved the afrikaans commentary. Hoe lyk it boet.

Glad to see you in another episode Ben. Keep pushing😍🤩. Waiting on you to get back up to do editing :p
Origin of your "meteor".........
Passing UFO dumped their holding tank overboard!😂
Never heard someone swear that much in such few words
:) Enjoy it here it stays a very beautiful country
Oooo, I want one of those trailers. But I bet I couldn't afford one.
I understood every fokken word that Pete said! Totsiens...
That is basically a modern Chuckwagon.
flowy ocean or rocky desert just the medium for the cruiser at heart? I couldn't really imagine you guys sitting by the pool all day. :-) Epic episode wishing you the best!
With tyres and off-roading, drop the tyre pressures. That lets the tyre flex over rocks, etc.
Land Rovers rule. I am building a trailer similar to this. Would love to visit Namibia.

As a sailor I prefer oceans in general. But as a 4x4 enthusiast I do like such remote drive expeditions. Although this goals seems a bit…. Hollow 😅
Fokken mooi man
I was reading that diamonds are not rare (?) the money masters don’t want us to know that (?).
Nou's daar net 'n Groot Foken Gat ... net so my Maat --- Lekker Julle 🤣🤣🤣
Hope you enjoyed the Orange 😁
looks a bit like Australia, great vid
Awesome! But dumb question time: why the hurry to get back to North America? Why not head towards the Mediterranean or Northern Europe?
this is like Iceland highlands roads
Cheers to my favorite Canadians 🍻
What a fantastic trip ! Have you taken water filters like the MSR with you ?
"f%#@ing" was hilarious.
Diamond Hunting looks a lot like gold mining
I would be willing to bet that first rock you picked up was meteorite.

There probably are Landys on Mars already
So do you get arrested if you find a Dimond?
It’s coal!!! Which makes sense if there are diamonds. ✌️
If you ever get to Kenya, you absolutely must visit Hells Kitchen.. Nature is a law unto herself.
