- This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. The talk, given by Roman Saini is about his journey till now and the way he cracked some of the world’s toughest examinations. He emphasizes on extremely low acceptance ratio in prestigious Indian examinations. Making a mention of the importance of being risk friendly, he then goes on to explain how each one of us has the capability to achieve greatness but we are afraid to take that one step. He believes that luck is a probability and describes how each one of us has equal chances of succeeding at it. His deduction exhibits competence is more impactful than just having confidence. He is of the opinion that delayed gratification and Roman’s Rituals have helped him a lot in life. Finally, he ends the talk with a song.
“I believe we can achieve anything if we really want it. For me there were no external benchmarks to conquer. I have done everything that I really enjoyed doing. I play guitar as I love music not because I aspire to go to Trinity College in England. Medicals, civil services to now giving back to millions of UPSC candidates - all these have been
internal drives.”-are the words of a prodigy who cracked AIIMS at 16, Indian Administrative Services (IAS) at 22 and even holds a degree for music from Trinity College and is now helping IAS aspirants via Unacademy. Featured in Your Story, he feels everyone has the capability to pursue their dreams; all they need is to understand it well. The driving force for him is his quest to constantly learn and his hunger for knowledge which has made him go on and on and on.

Even I did not like the walking, the shouting, the self-boasting bit, it when I saw the video. I realise that people will take it negatively and they should. But it was my first public speaking experience and hence, I committed those mistakes. I am really sorry for the same. Just a suggestion that please do not spread so much hatred on the internet that many among the new generation, stop trying altogether for the fear of online ridicule and hatred. Just my views. Sorry if you disagree.

I am shocked ..what a guy he is 🥲💯... He became doctor from AIIMS Delhi , published reserch paper , junior resident at nddtc ,then IAS officer , a gamer and then he pursued music from Trinity College of London...such a amazing journey he had!🚀💯🧿
Don't forget he established a 3 billion dallar company
But don't you think he shouldn't have been a doctor in the first place?? He could've become an ias directly? Why he wasted AIIMS Delhi seat of a girl/guy who really needed it?
@@payalghuge5304 I don't feel right when anyone says that a persons wastes a seat in IIT or AIIMs if they don't follow the same profession, but I don't think who ever would have gotten a seat in AIIMs instead of him would be capable enough and deserving of the seat if they didn't already get a seat in the said institute. And when students go to IIT or AIIMs they don't already know that in the future they are definitely gonna purse the civil services exam or anything else. Plus I think the knowledge and experience he gained in AIIMs would have been one of the reasons for his good preparation and success in UPSC and later on in his career, So I don't think he wasted the seat. He learned many things in AIIMs and he used that later in life and became really successful, and now he is changing lives of student who can't travel to places with good teachers, Also He may have not used is medical knowledge in his career but he has given India, so many good Doctors , Engineers and Civil Service officers , by his platform unacademy. Sir, let the world speak about yourself by your actions.
Would you like to tell me what is new in your this video, which has been not told yet by the others.
If you really want to help others than bring some fresh content. Otherwise people even don't remember who was the chief administrator of the Ashoka.
why are you so jealous? I can smell that in your words. Become an IAS officer and you will know what it is like and how tough it is to be. Go visit unacademy and you will get a lot of videos that can help. At least, be happy that he has done something great, it does not cost you anything.
@yashavantha tumakuru,
Sir, y ll i b jealous?? It's a feeling which happens among the equals. And he should not be compare with others, of course due to his achievements.
After saying this, i would like to disagree with ur proposition that till u achieve the same position u r not allowed to have a different opinion. It's an Elitist view. If u analyse ur proposition , u ll find that after following u none ll be allowed to have a different opinion against God man, Leaders, Personalities, bureaucrats, or any one. And i m afraid to say thereafter we loose the democratic way.
Rajesh Ranu And so is your comment
Rajesh Ranu People like you lower the IQ of entire human race. He is not boasting of anything. He is the first IAS officer who is breaking the shackles and interacting with public, doing so much for the aspirants and being a "servant" in truest sense of the word. Most of his peers are busy getting drunk and enjoying the royal life style with bungalow, servants and red beacon car. Please do not get your filth out of your head in the public arena and discourage such officers who are few and far between. Roman Saini Please continue your good work and stop listening to such ignorant morons.
Dhruv Maheshwari May be your opinion is right Sir, but before judging anyone there should be a need to understand him properly, And Anyone's one comment is not enough to understand him properly. won't you be agree with this point Sir.
And if not than do mention your propositions upon which you made a judgement.
Apart from this, i could understand the reason which annoyed you. That, India is a land of devotee, and none of them even like to listen a fair criticism against their Gods. So, your God with your HIGH IQ may always keep you in the path of success. Best of luck dear.
He may not be a good speaker, he may have poor communication skills, however, his message is commendable. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Isn't it funny that when we call other people judgemental but right now most of us are doing the same. We are judging a book by it's cover.
He's just trying to prove that even people with average past life can dream and work hard to achieve big. Research paper publishing episode was to prove that sheer interest can land you with a paper in a journal. Boasting about UPSC xms after tasting success is not a bad thing.
Please google about him n then make a proper judgement. His tone offends u rather than his content of speech, sir/mam then it's actually u who has some problem.

+MrFreudianslips Nobel price is given for research in science? Yeah right.
Why did Kailash Styarthi win Nobel price then genius?
+Piyush Aswani I didn't think I'll meet even bigger 'geniuses' on RUclips. my reply about Nobel prize was in the context of iitians and Nobel prize. the popularly expected( like the dumbass who commented)Nobel prize would be science related ( medicine, physics, chemistry). Nobel peace prize is not niche like science Nobel prizes because they can be won by anyone who has done positive work for peace. usually no one would expect iitians to win it. his comment was obviously about science Nobel prizes and my reply was in that context. thank you for shining your light of Knowledge upon us and enlightening us about kailash satyarthi winning Nobel prize in peace. I didn't know that such a Nobel prize existed at all. since you are sharing knowledge could you also tell me who is the prime minister of India?
Why do you need to get all worked up? If you will read your comment, you yourself would realize that it implies Nobel is given only to scientists.
Also, there is nothing like popularly accepted category in Nobel prize. It maybe to your opinion, in general consensus it is not.
And why would you think that an IIItian wouldn't win or want to win a Nobel; peace or otherwise? They have emerged out to be Painters, Photographers, Entrepreneurs, Actors etc. As well as, some of them have done tremendous contribution to science in their fields and many have went on to become Social servers.
Though I kind of agree that doing research in India and winning a Nobel is quite impossible for now. But if you do not expect them to win Science Nobel, then that's okay. Why do you burst anyone else's bubble.
And I very well know who's the P.M. of India buddy. But just for fun, please explain what is the difference between Science and Technology. Since you said "IIItians produce engineers who are good in technology" and didn't really get where you were going with that.
+Piyush Aswani
clearly my reply went above your head. I am not gonna elaborate and waste my time. the PM question was sarcastic.well clearly, you are not very bright are you?
from the flow of your thought process I'd have to conclude you are either a student in medicine or humanities. please don't tell me you are one of our own from IIT. for it would possibly make me sadder than this video.

After watching the whole video only one conclusion I can make: "He is NOT a NERD, He is a Narcissist of highest order. "
He has achieved a lot man, a lot...
Did he say something illogical or something he can't prove??
Shut up he already said sorry

The irony is people who comment negative or always criticize are more likely to be Narcissistic !
@@samsinalaskar9371 or people who like to blindly follow others or can't accept criticism likely to remain andhbhakts.
Constructive criticism is always appreciated unlike character assassination based on one video
