Chinese pit bike no spark - changing a stomp pitbike stator plate

  • A "how to" video to show you how to change the stator plate on a pit-bike if the pitbike has no spark
    Usually if the chain breaks or comes off it goes around the front Sprocket and damages the casing and the stator. This is a common problem on these bikes.
    It's important to look after your chain or it costs more in the long run

    I have the same stator but when we got this thing used I don’t remember seeing the pick up. I have 4 wires coming from the stator, black is ground I suppose brown and a grey coming from left copper coil and and white from the right. Any ideal what I may be working with?

      Hi Rich
      TBH i can't remember off the top of my head and i don't have one around atm to check for you sorry
      The wires normally match up with the colours on the wiring loom but i would have to look at it to work it out if they don't. normally i plug in the ones that i know then just work out whats left.
      the ones from the charging coil though can go either way around.

      Not if the woodruff key is in place on the crank and everything lines up
      You can check the mark is correct on the flywheel by checking the piston is at TDC with an allen key down the plughole

    Dang it man, I pressure washed my son's 110cc pit bike and now I have very little to no spark. Right now there's no spark, but every once in a while itll start, but won't run for long. It has a brand new carb, so the carb isn't the issue. I just don't know much about the ignition system on a small engine. Basically, I don't know how to diagnose the lack of spark. His bike doesn't have a stator cover, but that's never been an issue before. I have pressure washed it before, but I've never had an issue with it not having spark before.

    • @motorcyclefixer
      @motorcyclefixer  10 месяцев назад

      you may have water in one of the connections and it's earthing the spark ???

    the stator plate on my 110cc pitbike only has one coil pack instead of two coils on his pitbike statorplate.is it unusual to have one coil pack?.there is a space for another coil pack with screws on it so if you want to add another coilpack. dosnt look like it broke off .the 2 screws are still on the plate .should u have to give the flywheel a wack with a club hammer or should it push on easy because on my 125cc pitbike i wacked the flywheel few time with a club hammer not too hard so not to damage anything. the flywheel didnt push on much and the notch thing on the flywheel is still 3 quarters off in line of the pickup point on the stator plate even after i put 2 washers behind the 2 screws on the pickup point so that the magnet on the pickup point is pushed outwards a bit more.

    • @motorcyclefixer
      @motorcyclefixer  6 месяцев назад

      The stator plate with two coils is for the pitbike with a battery and lights etc. You shouldn't pack out the pick up
      There is a set distance between the pickup and the lug . 0.2mm

    Can you tell me what is on the outside of the flywheel that triggers the trigger coil? Is it a magnet, or something else? ( I'm using the trigger and cdi on a different project) THANKS

    • @motorcyclefixer
      @motorcyclefixer  Год назад +1

      on the outside of the flywheel is a steel square that triggers the pulse generator as it passes.
      Inside the pulse generator there is a magnet that is wrapped in fine wire
      when ferrous metal passes closely by the pickup it generates a pulse that tells the cdi when to spark.
      If using the trigger and cdi on something else you need to make sure of the timing of the pulse in relation to the crank position to ensure it fires correctly

    Stomp is a Chinese pit bike too. There are good products that come from China, they are not all bad.

      Very true
      The stomp pitbikes are made in China but the guys at stomp have had an input into some of the design changes 👍🏼
      You can also get all the parts for them which is a bonus

      Hi sorry for the late reply
      It sounds as if the washer has crushed around the thread of the crankshaft.
      I would try pulling the flywheel off with the puller with it still in there. gently to start though
