Greetings from the USA. Great review and flight. Put my order in today. Gotta have one. The floats are a selling point for me I fly off water often. looks like lots of fun. Thanks for sharing.
+buddwizr Thanks for the feedback. Certainly a lot of people intending to fly off water so think I maybe proven wrong on this one. Good luck. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
I. Think you wrong about the floats. Like yourself there is a lot of opportunities to use water. Not everyone of course, but I think a lot more than you think. I have 2 friends that have Tundras now and they both have used the floats, and both for the first time. Might give a lot of people opportunities that they may have never done before??
very good especially in that wind, I think £130 is expensive but the cost of the multiplex funcub was more and near enough same I think. Durafly do some nice kits and I like the servo connections on the wings. They are a pain on the cub every time I need to transport it. Another thing is I like the way the servos in the fuse large are hidden by a hatch.
+902dr Yup, it's mostly good. Just bit more expensive than I'd expect from Durafly for what is basically a trainer type model with flaps and big wheels. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
hi great vid ... just bought one .. looking forward to build/ Flying it. where did you fly this??
I've been flying mine since may and the only problem i've had is the wing connectors. I was flying one day and the flaps started freaking out like they had epilepsy so i just removed them and replaced them with servo extentions. I've also replaced the wheels with the rubber one and replaced the maingear once. Great plane for beginners to advanced pilots.
It is. Flew my first one a lot. Well worth the money. Looking forward to the long awaited BIG version. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Great Model Ive flown the Paint Work Off Mine almost , So now i have finally put it on the floats but yet to find a day without rain or wind or the right mood to try it out , i would like to do it soon as never flown off water before and i am looking at the Avios Grumann Albertros from HobbyKing as it looks and fly's great from what i can see on you tube so yes Back to the Tundra Awesome Little plane and takes off in two feet flat with full flaps absolutely amazing lift highly recommend this model for beginners all the way to advanced its a Blast of Fun cheers Dom For Showing another great model review
@@-BUFFALOMan no i ended up buying 2 glider the ezio1500mm and the pheonix2000mm and yet to fly either as where in lockdown with this covid-19 , hopefully soon will be able to get out and maiden one of them although heading into winter now in melbourne cant see much flying being done , oh well will be scanning the weather for that break in cold and hopefully get in some sun , hope you enjoy the tundra and yes i love mine and still yet to fly off water but gee it looks great on the floats , cheers buffalo man keep well.
Floats are great for the snow
+Anthony Gennello Yup. Suspect you are right. We didn't get any of that this year :
Floats were a selling point for me as well.
+Roger Pyzik Fairplay Roger. Looking forward to seeing some more flying off water videos then. Looking forward to putting mine together. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Excellent job flying and landing. Maybe show details on battery location and how strapped to the inner fuselage.
Thanks for the feedback. Will do that on future flight tests. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
That looked like fun Dom. Enjoyed that. Sadly missed from RCM&E...
+Peter Bruce A lot of fun Peter. No point posting it on RCM&E. The usual suspects would just over analyse it. Cheers Dom
I understand, a sad loss to the other 99%
Nice review ! What radio would be required to bind and fly?
Would a Spectrum DXE work?
The model doesn't come with a receiver so it's not 'bind and fly'. If you buy a Spektrum transmitter it will normally come with a receiver. If you already have a Spektrum transmitter just a get a 5 channel DSM2/DSMX aero receiver from a local supplier. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Hi thanks for the review, I have purchased this recently and also the XK A800, both great aircraft, where is your local field you refer to & is it a member only field, thanks
Hampshire in the UK...yeah, members only but that's typically of BMFA affiliated clubs in the UK unless you arrange a guest pass. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
bougrement sympa le bestiaux
Floats are a total selling point for many. Not others fault you don't live by Water. Good video though Non the Less.
+Dave Lapan Hi Dave. I do live by water and intend to use the floats during Spring. Just a personal opinion though buddy. I could be wrong. Could be that the floats don't actually add anything to the size of the packaging and therefore the shipping costs. Always a big consideration when they make models these days. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Nice review but why would you complain about included floats?
+Jens Jensen I said in the vid. Most people who buy this model will not fly off water so it is pointless including them. The model would have been cheaper to buy without the floats. Floats could have been sold as a separate option. It's not 'complaining'. It's my opinion. And everyone is entitled to an opinion. That's the way the world works buddy. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
realy 20 minutes flight time ?? with 2.2 amp batterie ??
thanks to reply.
+Diodo Paul If you go very easy on the throttle yes. This thing only needs 30% to 50% throttle to cruise around. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Greetings
Why flying in wind is no substitute for calm days:
1. Much greater risk for crash
2. Repair costs
3. Squirrely-ass flying
4. Constant need to be on the high alert for gusts
5. Annoying changes in throttle to compensate for wind speed variation (and associated annoying SOUND
6. Scale flying near impossible.
I'd rather get on the sim or watch flying videos when the weather isn't cooperating.
OR fly a kite.😜
I think you are wrong about the floats... I think floats included is a HUGE selling point and I'm sure most people will use them even if they have to drive a few miles to find water
+Ron Thompson Maybe Ron. Just an opinion buddy. Will be interesting to see if that's the case after Summer. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Can you remove the Tundra decals?
Yes, I think you can pull them off fairly easily. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Durafly TUNDRA Maiden Flightl on Snow Skis
Today, 12:22 AM
I just did my maiden flight with the Durafly TUNDRA on snow skis. All went well on the maiden, but at the end of my second flight I came in hot on the tail wheel and broke the rudder servo. An easy $5.00 fix, otherwise not a scratch. Very nice plane, fun to fly. I put the tundra tires on and am waiting for the snow to melt. Watch for that video.

+HANGAR 37 Great job John. Very jealous! I wouldn't mind some snow in the UK so I could try that out. Only Feb so still might get some if we have another cold snap which is highly probable. Thanks again. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
I want the plane cause it comes with floats. Sorry fly zone beaver
+4thGloryMonday Floats are good for snow too!
+Daniel Lee I bet they would work great on snow
I'd rather they include a battery or what ever instead of floats
What’s candy ?
Sweeties init. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
Lots of whinging here. Installing a few linkages is no trouble at all and since you're going to use the floats anyway why bother to carry on about paying a few pounds more for them. One thing you didn't mention is that this model is nicely overpowered, you can even hang it on the prop, it's a good all around plane.
the intro music is EXTREMELY LOUD, and then you start speaking and its super low... urrgh
Yes. Sorry. I do that better now. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)
