    Sound advice Tom , i see so many videos these days with people adding a ton of carbon , using terrible servos and it should be the other way round . Keep it light , and good servos and you will have a great flying plane . All the best .......

    I'm waiting for my first Tundra to be delivered today. I like what you've done with the upgrade servos so I believe the next Tundra that I get will be in ARF.
    I am going to use the wheels off of my old E-flite Timber. I'm going to compare the weight difference, but I think they will be far more durable in the long run and I'm also going to apply the slats for the Leading Edge from an old Timber as well to see if that improves the stole characteristics even more.
    Great video by the way, thanks for sharing.

      André Rousseau first one I started upgrading once servo’s started giving in. Then I won that first orange one in the STOL video competition and swapped out some servo’s as well, so when I got a hold of this one in the auction I decided to go for optimal situation right away.
      Green #1 and orange #2 are both still flying at my club.
      Flew both of those with stock motor and esc on 3s 2200 and will do the same with this one!
      Still love this plane after 1500+ flights on the first 2 combined!

    I copied your battery mount method because I couldn't get my hands back in there to manipulate a tie down strap. Works perfect. I have the exact same airplane with the foam wheels. Do you land on grass or pavement. I'm landing on pavement, and this thing is a Bouncer. Other than that I really like the way this thing fly's.

    Hi ya Tom. How are you?
    Your Hobbyking live UK photographer here. 😉
    Did you go to Hobbyking live UK last week?
    We didn’t go this year as my buddy Sean was on holiday.
    Thinking about a Grand Tundra for pulling my gliders up. I could fly one, and Sean the other.
    I know you have had a grand tundra, so please could you tell me the maximum size glider you think this could tow up?
    Hows ya brother?
    Thanks Tom.
    Keith.

    I really like your prop spinner. I assume you have the standard motor. What prop adapter did you use? The original doesn't have enough thread to include the spinner backplate. I've been unable to find a suitable adapter on HK website and no-one there seems to know either.

    • @TomDeWeerdt

      U PANDAWAY standard adapter works fine with this spinner, it’s one with a metal backplate, they’re usually thinner than plastic ones 👍

      yamittr250 if I’m not mistaken you can reach the servo screw with a small screwdriver, but they should be installed correctly...

    I recently began flying this exact Tundra V2 model...my problem is the motor sometimes quits after appox. 4 min of flight time...I am using new 3S 2200mah 60C LiPo's and they are still fine after landing ( appox. 38% left ) .......I notice the ESC becomes very hot and it must be shutting down the motor ...I am using all the stock parts that came with it......the big carbon fiber prop , stock motor and stock 40amp ESC from Hobbyking ..what am I doing wrong as it's frustrating having to land dead stick so many times ?...thanks

    • @TomDeWeerdt
      @TomDeWeerdt  3 года назад

      That shouldn't be happening, especially with 3s.
      If your lipo's still have sufficient amps in them after landing I would assume it's the built in heat protection of your esc that's acting up.
      Next time this happens check wether the esc is hot.
      In that case raplacing it should do the trick.

    Just bought a green arf and it's all your fault. I was going to wait for the UK HK show at the weekend but after you posting this I was worried they might sell out. I've wanted one since they came out but have never actually met anyone that owns one, despite being in a club of about 50 members and I fly with another group of about 12 people. Any idea when the V2 is due out. Can't be long cos I've just bought the v1

    Tom,
    Je hebt servo's gebruikt die half nylon half metaal zijn als ik zo de reviews lees op hobbyking, waarom geen servo's met alleen metalen tandwielen?Daar was ik toch benieuwd naar.
    Ow... ow ow en wat kan je toch vliegen hé, niet normaal meer wat een skills.

    • @TomDeWeerdt
      @TomDeWeerdt  5 лет назад

      Marinus Verdonk hey Marinus! Dank je! Er zijn zat mensen die beter vliegen natuurlijk... nadat ik 5 jaar geleden weer ben begonnen met vliegen ben ik gericht nieuwe dingen gaan leren en ik ben nu ook best tevreden met de progressie. Nog veel te leren, dat wel!
      Eerlijk gezegd heb ik deze gewoon gekozen ivm goede ervaring. Tandwielen zijn een overbrenging, en degenen die de grootste krachten opvangen zijn metaal. Hoewel je over elke servo ook mensen met slechte ervaringen kan vinden heb ik er op 4 of 5 kistjes zoals de Bravado, Tundra en EFX en EFXtra altijd veel plezier van gehad (snel, geen speling, geen malfunctions).

    • @rverdonk3
      @rverdonk3 5 лет назад

      Ik heb nog geen Tundra, maar mocht ik hem kopen dan pik ik de Servo's gelijk ff mee.De groene Tundra schijnt nog gwn met de oude foam bandjes geleverd te worden als ik een recensie mag geloven.Maarrrrrrrr ik kan ook ipv de tundra.. de Grand Tundra Avios kopen.Hm.. moeilijk haha. Heb het idee veel meer vliegruimte nodig te hebben.En ik zie mensen klagen over de Esc en dat de motor te warm word.

    • @TomDeWeerdt
      @TomDeWeerdt  5 лет назад

      rverdonk3 die grote heb ik ook gehad (aan m’n vader gegeven, die keek er zo verliefd naar :) ), staat ook een review van op dit kanaal.
      Review was in de winter, toen geen probleem op 6s. Na die review heb ik hem altijd op 4s gevlogen omdat ik 6s zelf helemaal niet nodig vond.
      Toen ik op het heetst van vorige zomer weer eens 6s ging vliegen is de esc inderdaad uitgefikt, dus voor 6s toch beter een 80A steken voor de Grand Tundra!

    Those foam wheels are shit! I dont care about the extra weight they are rock hard and noisy af original give way more forgiveness on rough ground. Not sure where you sit your bat but looks way forward me and afew mate velcro in our batts but the front sits just infront of the rear of the hatch. That looks like it would be very nose heavy but it still flys alright as thats how i first put mine in

      @TomDeWeerdt  6 лет назад

      harrison dawes hey everyone does what they like. Difference is 80 grams which is about 7% of the total weight.
      I like the cg like this with the 3s 2200 all the way to the front, You do have the heavier wheels in front of the CG and different battery weight might explain the difference in batt position...

    Hi, I came across your video because I'm having trouble with one of my flap servo's on my brand new Tundra and it hasn't even been in the air yet! 😤 It's my first foamy after returning to the hobby, so I'm wondering how/what are the wing servo's held in with and what's the easiest way you've found of removing them??

    • @TomDeWeerdt
      @TomDeWeerdt  4 года назад

      Stu D'Nutz hey Stu, that sucks...
      They’re glued in with foamsafe CA glue (cyanoacrylate), I just use a knife around the sides, after that grab it with pliers and wiggle it so the bottom lets go as well. Then glue in the new servo with ca glue again
