    Another Aussie here. David Unwin is one of my favourite people on the planet. Such a humble and gentle man, who is achieving miracles because of his kindness and wisdom. Keep up the amazing work David and Sam. And thank you!

    Been very low carb (keto) for over 3 years now. Pre-diabetes, gone, acid reflux, gone, bloating gone, twinges like sore knees, gone. Life saving stuff? Maybe. Quality of life/health improvement, definitely.

    I've always loved Dr. Unwin's work, his positive and hopeful approach, and his encouragement. So nice to finally get to hear him again! Thanks so much!

    Please keep your good work up. We need to get to a point where every GP in the UK offers low carb as a first option. Sadly my GP said that keto was dangerous. But I didn’t listen to him and did it anyway. Came off all my meds and have now maintained remission for 2 years. Sadly my GP doesn’t want to know more about how I actually achieved it...

    Dave Unwin makes the best videos to show sceptics that diabetes can be beaten. He comes from a GP background, which feels all homey and true, and talks facts and common sense. Plus he's a very likeable man. Three thumbs up for this video.👍👍👍

    Another great presentation. Moderation doesn't work for me - I'm a carb addict. I must abstain. Last night I was at my mothers and convinced myself I could have 2 biscuits. I stopped counting. Up 3lb this morning! I'm back on low carb. It's the only way of eating I can restart easily because I'm not hungry.

      moderation seems to work with sugar syrups, but I choose to avoid anything else sugary or starchy.

    Good for you Dr Unwin. I've been Keto for a couple of years now, never felt better, never feel hungry, and I can now wear the same motorcycle jacket I purchased 55 years ago (3 years ago I could not zip that jacket up no matter what). While my food choices are dearer than before I eat a lot less so that works out too.

    Dr. Unwin has a great voice. Basically though this is so damning... if remissions were happening in cancer the world would be losing their minds. I am just so grateful to Dr. Atkins in 2000 I saw his work and cut drastically back on carbs... but, I didn't cut back on bread... cut to 2019 and my A1c was up at 5.7% - went keto (thankfully there were more keto options than in 2000) and my A1c is down to 4.8%. Keto is still very hard to do. I personally would like to stand outside every doctors office and hand out brochures so people would get the message. I still see people in front of me at the store with cart full of cookies, cakes, and ice cream.

      My brother went low carb 11 years ago, then keto 5 years ago and finally carnivore 2 years ago. He had a heart scan 11 years ago and his calcium score was 147. A year ago it went to a bit over 800 and he ended up having 6 stents placed because of shortness of breath. His blockage were from 92 to 98 percent. All that low carbing did wonders for his type 2, but it is near killing his heart.

    Clearly works for T2D but do we need to wait for people to be ill before they get this advice from the NHS? The food pyramid hadn’t changed despite dietary conversion of UK Gov MPs.

      Dr Unwin is a legend , I am using his evidence for my fertility patients ! He is shifting a mountain, believe me ! The dieticians need to come on board ! I noticed the awareness growth especially among patients. A lot of information out there . Do your research for anything and ask questions to your doctors , keep looking for someone who could answer or say I don’t know will find out , or the world haven’t found the answer yet .. something like this . Empower yourselves please ! Apologies for a speech :)

    Dragon Teeth of Addiction - oh yes, I would have had a graph exactly like that for forty years. Not however since I eliminated the addictive carbs: sugar, grains and starches, and all processed foods. Now my graph for past five years would be very boring, a toothless dragon with no more power.

    At 20:25 I would argue that you are indeed making people younger, maybe not chronologically, but they certainly feel younger and pretty sure their DNA methylation age will definitely be lower after adopting a LCHF lifestyle.

    My doctor doesnt believe T2 can be reversed or in remission. He says I will always be T2 but he still cannot believe the improvements in my numbers especially cholesterol levels and makes me take a test every time I have my HbA1c done (every 3 months) and still doesnt believe I have a total cholesterol of 3.7 down from around 6.2 before low carb diet. He is French and says no Frenchman would live a day without a baguette. Shame because the T2 numbers are getting worse in France now.

      Maybe there is hope for your doc, after seeing your consistent results, and maybe after a couple of LCHF patients show up he could be open to learn.

    At about 32 min. The weight bounce. I found a substitute substance worked for a friend. I recommended strong tea and heavy whipping cream. In a couple of years he started tapering off the cream and just didn't like tea without it! End of problem!

      I would like to recommend to release the presentations of future events at a consistent rate (maybe once a week, like low carb down under does) to improve this channel visibility. Consistency helps the RUclips algorithm, and I fear this channel will be hard to find if you only publish a lot of videos after a conference every year or couple of months.

    How much carbs per day do you allow in the low carb diet?

    • @Gengh13
      @Gengh13 3 года назад +5

      It depends, if you are an athlete or are metabolically healthy you can probably eat 100g of carbs a day without problems, but if you are a pre-diabetic, overweight, menopausal woman you will probably have to limit the intake to 20g a day, maybe of total carbs, not only net.

    I'm reading Dr Fung's Diabetes Code that states that various tribes exist almost exclusively on stuff like sweet potatoes yet there is no incidence of diabetes. How does this compare with the sugar table that says a sweet spud is the equivalent to 5 or 6 (or whatever it is) teaspoons of sugar?

    • @cutabove9046
      @cutabove9046 2 года назад

      There is a big difference between simple carbs like sugar, and flour products versus complex carbs like sweet potatoes.

      In the end, potato is still"real food" _ its about how much you have. Low carb is not No carb.

    I've been on a strict keto diet for Type 2 diabetes for several years, and it has helped me lose 60 lbs, stop using insulin, and normalize my blood sugar. A tool I recently found which is very helpful is the Carb Manager free app which allows me to conveniently log all my food consumption and provide running totals of carbs, fat, protein, and calories. It's much easier for me to know where I am on my calorie and carb goal each day. I started using it a month ago, and have lost 9 pounds in that month. It's a very user friendly program. While there is a paid version which reports on other nutrients, and provides more recipes, I found the free version is all I need.

    Dr onion your help is fantastic.
    Why do useless doctors in the UK only want to prescribe medication & hive no other help. ?
    It's because they gey money from the pharmaceutical companies to increase their profits.
    Doctors are supposed to be health professionals & not in it to fill their pockets at the expense of their patients.
    This wold is totally crooked.
    Stuff the NHS as im better off with doctors on RUclips who truly care about people.
    Thank you.
