I am a visual person so when I read about an event in the Bible which has been dramatized on The Chosen, I can visualize the scripture which makes it easier to relate to and understand the scripture.
The Chosen brings sometimes flat stories to life and the insights afterwards are growing my Faith. Even after being a Sunday school teacher there is so much I still don't know .

The pigs weren't unclean during the Exodus. Else, Moses wouldn't have had to make a new ordinance. Hence, the Hebrews wouldn't have had pigs in their herds. Moses had to make pigs unclean because there wasn't enough cooking fuel to kill the trichinosis in pork meat. And there's no use telling starving people not to eat rare meat.

Yes, 12 is a significant number. Rev 21:14 Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb Yahushua called 12 Apostles. Judas betrayed him and committed suicide. By divine lot (also used in selecting between 2 goats on Yom Kippur -- the Day of Atonement) Mattias replaced Judas. The original 11 plus Mattias are the 12 Apostles whose names will be on the foundation stone. Saul/Paul never met Yahushua in the flesh. He came on the scene over a decade after Yahushua's final ascension. He had not realized that Yahushua said when he returns, every eye will see him, that a voice in the desert claiming to be him would not be, and that his sheep know his name. So either believe Yahushua or believe Saul/Paul who claims to have had a private meeting in the desert and asked the voice, "Who are you?" Paul later admits Satan can appear as a beacon of light. I been going to church for 40 years and I have of course heard these stories but never knew about the deeper meaning. I think our church teaching let us down. This was brilliant. Thank you.
Let's remember that The Chosen is a tv show depicting accounts in the Bible and therefore, just like some gospel accounts place the same events in different chronological order for a purpose, I believe The Chosen uses it's artistic and creative license to do the same. Who knows? Maybe this man's salvation and deliverance will be portrayed in a later episode. Let's be patient and see. In the meantime, thank God for His Word, which is our main focus.
Don't forget, The Chosen is crowd funded. They don't have unlimited money to do everything you think they should do. They've done everything as real as possible, and with people. To do the 2,000 pigs would not be possible to do with real pigs. And they so far, have not had to use CGI. And lets not forget, everything story is not necessarily done in the order they occurred. I think they've done an amazing job. And will continue to do a great job. The show is bringing many to Christ. Many have returned to Christ & are again reading their scriptures. I'd say that speaks a lot for the work being done by the show.
I feel like some of the trickier scenes could be worked around artistically. Maybe we see a a CGI sky view shot of pigs in the sty (it wouldn't be hard to duplicate pigs in different locations of their pen) then a "pig's eye view" once possessed and track it as they crash themselves off the cliff and get surprised reactions of the witnesses.
They used CGI via a "green burrito" to film the miracle of the fishes when Simon, Andrew, James & John fished all night in search of fish to pay off Simon's debt. They saw Jesus on the shore and he told them to cast their net again. That's when the miracle load of fish appeared. It was also the first time Simon met Jesus.
The creators of the Chosen have done an amazing job with the limited funds they have available. There’s also so much in the scriptures I’m sure they had to weigh up the pros and cons of including most of their choices for the show

How would Dallas on the Chosens budget with no green screen film "2,000 pigs running over the cliffside"? I suspect the challenges filming that particular scene offers is why they left that out. Also the fact that Matthew's story leaves it out shows its not as narratively connected to the other 2 healing stories. It's not really park of the Markian Sandwich either in Mark, it's just in the same chapter. The series has already shown they will do a few things out of chronological order a little. So they may be saving the "Legion" event for a later episode too. Like as a season ender, since on camera it's easily the biggest spectacle. They have teased 'the Legion' once before already when the last demon possessed man Jesus healed referred to himself as being a member of the Legion.
And not to forget that to fit scripture, the pigs have to run 31 miles to get to the water to then go drown in...NOT a likely event at best! That's literally how far they were from shore.

Bear in mind too, that The Chosen has embarked upon a most holy mission to show us the heart of the Father. This is a prime motivation of the entire bible, but most of our churches have lost this - for decades. So all presentation of events take a back seat to revealing His heart for us.
I'm part of a First Fruit of Zion Torah group in South Africa - last year we have studied these specific pieces... Then, it was a big "A-Ha!!" moment for me but listening to this referring back to the Red-sea event after this week's Tanach also of how the Red sea miracle enlightened the "revenge" for the killing of babies just makes these pieces even more powerful!! Hi Brandon, great recap on that event. Also valuable comparisons between the "classes of people" and the humbleness we should all be striving for. There was sooooooo much that happening there which also had an impact many many years later when Rome destroyed Jerusalem........ There is a book called: "Sometimes Jesus says NO!" which elaborates on what happened when Jesus said "No" to the man when he wanted to follow him onto the boat, and how "no" to things that we ask for in prayer is actually in God's ultimate plan for our lives for the greater good. That book gave me so much perspective on getting God on my agenda vs God's agenda for me and me getting in line with that. Great piece of the Gospel for sure. Thanks for highlighting it.
I love the way that you relate the incidents to what is going on in the world at that time! In their part of their country. They believed this way, they acted this way, because of the year that it was, and the timeframe of everything. Many modern people forget to take into consideration all of the ways in which people lived then. One cannot apply modern thinking to archaic lifestyles, any more than they can apply modern dress to such an age. It helps greatly to hear about their lifestyles and beliefs. Thank you, Brandon.

I love when people explain the historical context, I never knew the representation of the story, but, man, does it make it even more powerful! The Chosen is easily my favorite currently running series, but I do feel disheartened when they leave things out or choose to shuffle the order of events. Were I working with the staff I'd try to be very close to the timeline and hold as true to the spoken dialogue as possible. When the "Belial" scene happened I was SO confused since I thought that he was supposed to be the series' adaptation "Legion" but they toned it down and didn't have the demons cast into swine which throw themselves off the cliff. (I haven't watched the episode discussions so I didn't know if that was or was not the case) However, I do hope they include the scene with Legion and the swine though cause it's such an important part and such an important moment. I think when that happens it will be a very powerful scene on screen.
In Episode 6 Jesus tells John's apostles that He will be going into the Decapolis and do something that can be considered revolutionary, but that He did not come to overthrow Rome (or something along those lines) My guess is that this demoniac will be part of this - I hope!

I am anxious to see their depiction of the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2. Most churches don’t teach on it because they don’t understand it’s relevance to today. But what happened then, still happens now, and was prophesied of in the book of Joel.

Yea they say to go back to the source to get the word. Season 1 episode 1 says it. At church we do a watch party/ movie night and we crack open the Bible afterwards and discuss what we watched vs what we see in the gospels. It's a great source to bring it to life, but is no substitute for the text
As you mentioned at the beginning, this wonderful TV show can't show every single activity that Jesus did. What Dallas Jenkins and his crew do is only so much. They are doing a wonderful job, many people are being blessed as others are getting saved bc of this tv show The Chosen. The Bible itself has all of what's being left out at the moment giving us the chance to read up on what's being left out and to do our own personal studies. So please don't nit-pick on what's being left out like it's a bad thing. Marvel can't put EVERYTHING in the movie that's in the comics, there's not enough time, money to do that, so ppl will end up buying and reading the comics to have the missing pieces filled in etc. This is a wonderful show, I get blessed every time, even going back to see the previous episodes. Thank you Mr. Jenkins and team and actors, we need this, especially now.

Very good information. The deliverance of the demon possessed man would have played well in episodes 4 and 5. Im sure however it would have been hard to film the pigs falling over the cliffs.

When I was watching the episode where Jirus goes to Jesus It struck me because I have never seen a movie or heard of anyone getting down on their knees to ask Jesus for a healing or whatever they were in need of this was a first and you explained it so beautifully. Greetings, I understand perfectly well what you are saying. There are 2 possibilities why the demon possessed man's section was ommited. 1. Financially speaking would be too costly to produce lifelike pigs in the hundreds. 2. To use life pigs to throw themselves from the cliff would be a guaranteed lawsuit from everywhere. "cruelty to animals" also, who knows how many hours one episode takes, preparations, extras, and so on. It would be an over burden on the crew to make thst overwhelmingly labor intensive portion. Remember what they had to do for the Miracles of the fishes at the beginning in season 1 with Peter? They would've had to do 3 or many times more work, energy, hours and so on. Those are the probable reasons.

I’ve always found it fascinating that Jairus’ daughter was twelve years old AND that the woman had an issue of blood for twelve years.

Maybe we see a a CGI sky view shot of pigs in the sty (it wouldn't be hard to duplicate pigs in different locations of their pen) then a "pig's eye view" once possessed and track it as they crash themselves off the cliff and get surprised reactions of the witnesses.
They used CGI via a "green burrito" to film the miracle of the fishes when Simon, Andrew, James & John fished all night in search of fish to pay off Simon's debt. They saw Jesus on the shore and he told them to cast their net again. That's when the miracle load of fish appeared. It was also the first time Simon met Jesus.
Exactly! Plus, why not just enjoy the show and go back to Scriptures to meditate on the true Word? It’s just a show. Bible preach!

The creators of the Chosen have done an amazing job with the limited funds they have available. There’s also so much in the scriptures I’m sure they had to weigh up the pros and cons of including most of their choices for the show

How would Dallas on the Chosens budget with no green screen film "2,000 pigs running over the cliffside"? I suspect the challenges filming that particular scene offers is why they left that out.
Also the fact that Matthew's story leaves it out shows its not as narratively connected to the other 2 healing stories. It's not really park of the Markian Sandwich either in Mark, it's just in the same chapter.
The series has already shown they will do a few things out of chronological order a little. So they may be saving the "Legion" event for a later episode too. Like as a season ender, since on camera it's easily the biggest spectacle.
They have teased 'the Legion' once before already when the last demon possessed man Jesus healed referred to himself as being a member of the Legion.
He will find a way, like he did with the net of fish for Simon
Cgi....just like the fishing net scene.
And not to forget that to fit scripture, the pigs have to run 31 miles to get to the water to then go drown in...NOT a likely event at best! That's literally how far they were from shore.

Bear in mind too, that The Chosen has embarked upon a most holy mission to show us the heart of the Father. This is a prime motivation of the entire bible, but most of our churches have lost this - for decades. So all presentation of events take a back seat to revealing His heart for us.

Then, it was a big "A-Ha!!" moment for me but listening to this referring back to the Red-sea event after this week's Tanach also of how the Red sea miracle enlightened the "revenge" for the killing of babies just makes these pieces even more powerful!! Hi Brandon, great recap on that event. Also valuable comparisons between the "classes of people" and the humbleness we should all be striving for. There was sooooooo much that happening there which also had an impact many many years later when Rome destroyed Jerusalem........ There is a book called: "Sometimes Jesus says NO!" which elaborates on what happened when Jesus said "No" to the man when he wanted to follow him onto the boat, and how "no" to things that we ask for in prayer is actually in God's ultimate plan for our lives for the greater good. That book gave me so much perspective on getting God on my agenda vs God's agenda for me and me getting in line with that. Great piece of the Gospel for sure. Thanks for highlighting it.
I love the way that you relate the incidents to what is going on in the world at that time! In their part of their country. They believed this way, they acted this way, because of the year that it was, and the timeframe of everything.
Many modern people forget to take into consideration all of the ways in which people lived then. One cannot apply modern thinking to archaic lifestyles, any more than they can apply modern dress to such an age.

I love when people explain the historical context, I never knew the representation of the story, but, man, does it make it even more powerful! The Chosen is easily my favorite currently running series, but I do feel disheartened when they leave things out or choose to shuffle the order of events. Were I working with the staff I'd try to be very close to the timeline and hold as true to the spoken dialogue as possible.
When the "Belial" scene happened I was SO confused since I thought that he was supposed to be the series' adaptation "Legion" but they toned it down and didn't have the demons cast into swine which throw themselves off the cliff. (I haven't watched the episode discussions so I didn't know if that was or was not the case) However, I do hope they include the scene with Legion and the swine though cause it's such an important part and such an important moment. I think when that happens it will be a very powerful scene on screen.
In Episode 6 Jesus tells John's apostles that He will be going into the Decapolis and do something that can be considered revolutionary, but that He did not come to overthrow Rome (or something along those lines) My guess is that this demoniac will be part of this - I hope!

Yea they say to go back to the source to get the word. Season 1 episode 1 says it. At church we do a watch party/ movie night and we crack open the Bible afterwards and discuss what we watched vs what we see in the gospels. It's a great source to bring it to life, but is no substitute for the text

You explained to a level I understand
As you mentioned at the beginning, this wonderful TV show can't show every single activity that Jesus did. What Dallas Jenkins and his crew do is only so much. They are doing a wonderful job, many people are being blessed as others are getting saved bc of this tv show The Chosen. The Bible itself has all of what's being left out at the moment giving us the chance to read up on what's being left out and to do our own personal studies. So please don't nit-pick on what's being left out like it's a bad thing. Marvel can't put EVERYTHING in the movie that's in the comics, there's not enough time, money to do that, so ppl will end up buying and reading the comics to have the missing pieces filled in etc. This is a wonderful show, I get blessed every time, even going back to see the previous episodes. Thank you Mr. Jenkins and team and actors, we need this, especially now.

When I was watching the episode where Jirus goes to Jesus It struck me because I have never seen a movie or heard of anyone getting down on their knees to ask Jesus for a healing or whatever they were in need of this was a first and you explained it so beautifully. I had read about the pigs going off the cliff because of the demonic possession of this castout citizen. I'm in awe of how you break things down and explain them. I am. Greetings, I understand perfectly well what you are saying. There are 2 possibilities why the demon possessed man's section was ommited. 1. Financially speaking would be too costly to produce lifelike pigs in the hundreds. 2. To use life pigs to throw themselves from the cliff would be a guaranteed lawsuit from everywhere. "cruelty to animals" also, who knows how many hours one episode takes, preparations, extras, and so on. It would be an over burden on the crew to make thst overwhelmingly labor intensive portion. Remember what they had to do for the Miracles of the fishes at the beginning in season 1 with Peter? They would've had to do 3 or many times more work, energy, hours and so on. Those are the probable reasons.
