Bobby Whitlock is an American treasure. When I was a 20 year old musician back in 1979, our band had the great privilege of opening for Bobby's band. He was so gracious with his time. We were discussing the ATMP recording sessions. I remember saying to him how nervous I would be to meet George Harrison. He said to me, 'George would be more nervous meeting me, than I would be meeting George!!''. He told me about the 2 tier process of recording Layla. With Jim Gordon composing the piano coda. One of the highlights of my life. A true legend and an absolute salt of the Earth individual. Bless you Bobby Whitlock. RNB

I'll tell you what, I listen to the album All Things Must Pass all the time, from start to finish, because the level of musicianship on that album is out of this world. I mean it's insanely good. I can't get enough no matter how many times I listen to it. What I would give to be a part of something like that someday.

My Grandma in mountains of SW VA. had a pump organ. Probably the most valuable thing they had. Remember as a child listening to her play old hymns. Happy New Year to all and be safe.

Dont think I've ever heard of a piano string breaking ,😎 but at the same time have heard the baffled drum sound on all Beatles solo records it seems , besides George's, but especially John's " instant karma" or pauls "maybe I'm amazed"
Bobby, i had the pleasure of meeting Joey Molland ,the only member of Badfinger still alive...saw him play two years ago..he is a great guy..took the time to talk with us for 30 min..two of them committed suicide..very sad..thanks for mentioning them.
Bobby's a living legend and a one of the most important musical historians of that era. Thank God his dark days of addiction didn't erase all of these amazing stories from his memory banks. And that laugh!

Great bass player, left us way to soon. I seen Carl Radle back in 1972. At The old New Haven Arena, in Connecticut. He was in Leon Russell's band at the time.

When George asked Bobby "if he was going to be one of them (British Act) or go back to America" was that possibly a reason why Bobby did not play in the concert for Bangladesh? I know Leon Russel played, I guess would've been Bobby's role. It seems like a good portion of the ATMP players also played the Bangladesh concert. So in short why didn't Bobby play Bangladesh. You both need to do a netflix documentary, you can sell it in a minute. God Bless and keep on rockin!
I think Leon played at Bangladesh because at the time, He was recording "Badfingers" new album "Straight Up" From May 1971-Oct 1971 and George was producing at the same time. He probably asked him then.

Something I have always wondered.....Who played the electric rhythm guitar on What is My Life where it sounds like a very fast strummed plectrum banjo? It is so unusual and very accurate. And having played that part for George Harrison birthday gigs I can attest that you have to hold your mouth right to play it well.
If I wanted to hear the best mix of the All Things Must Pass and Layla, could you advise me which editions to get to hear the whole band as you were and not one remixed to minimize your contributions. Bobby Whitlock should be a household name. I know, I've been a musician all my life. Writing, stage and studio, BW is one of the GOAT.
