You guys are very special, it is so great to see two people that really love each other, and love being together. The Dominoes album is my favorite album, and Bobby's contributions can't be overstated. I'm also the biggest Clapton fan in the world. Keep up the good work, it has really helped me during this depressing pandemic. It is like sitting around with old friends and discussing your favorite music. God Bless You!
I love Cocos voice too. Her speaking voice is as pleasing to the ear as her singing voice. Her knowing what questions to ask and then keeping Bobby on point really helps make these interviews as good as they are. Plus Bobby's laugh can't help but put me in a good mood. ✌🇨🇦
These documents are so genial, genuine, fascinatingly informative and entertaining that they are nothing less than a world treasure! :)) This series compelled me to want to say thank you both SO much! Oh, and Happy New Year! Jeffro.
The first 2 solo records that bought from Eric Clapton was his first album and then Ocean Boulevard..That was a lucky day, cause it was my birthday(1.12.1966)and i had some extra pocket money, so i went into town and bought them. Both originalpressing.Wonderful🤩 My favorites on Erics first album are》Slunky/Bad Boy/Easy Now/Let it Rain,Blues Power, and Bottle of red wine🎵👌
I first saw Bobby live with Derek and the D´s in the UK in the ´70´.s I later got to meet and work with Bobby on an album in Nashville in ´83..(fresh in from Ireland to produce Maura O´Connell´s debut album ) and had some wonderful sessions with Bobby and Philip Donnelly ( since deceased )..a natural-born musician and a real southern gent. I'm just loving all these interviews...thank you Bobby and CoCO.
I'm 68 years old, feel in love with Albert King at the Fillmore west at 15 year old. I love it when Bobby said I was listening to Albert King, the king of the blues. Love youz guys podcast!! thank you, so much. xoxoxoxox
Beautiful voice CoCo!! Your speaking voice is so beautiful and silky. Loving these videos so much, cant get enough. Thank you for your time. Bobby is incredible. We all love you both!!
This is a very enlightening vid into Bobby's persona. I think that having this body of work in vid is special because you get the whole Audiovisual experience, the nuances of speech and gestures, punctuate with authority the words . I am a student of History in many forms and an avid reader, however when you can do this in such an in the living room aura, it so much better.
Thank you both for doing these amazing interviews. It is wonderful to hear about the little things that made it on to a record . The lowest string breaking on a piano ,becomes the freshest string on the sound board - I fortunately got to hear the Statler Brothers before they had that name . ( I was five) Lew Dewitt was the first person that I saw and heard play the guitar live at that time in Lee Flory's living room in Buffalo Gap, Virginia. Lee played the upright bass during this session - the only reason he didnt become a Statler was that he liked to drink a little to much - still he was a very kind person now deceased Lew sat with me for a bit when I was about 5 and told me if I liked that instrument as much as I apparently seemed too. That I should ask my parents when I turned 10 to get a guitar and also ask for lessons. Needless to say I lived at that point to just turn ten . Sadly my parents were not supportive of my musical endeavor. I wasnt allowed to get a guitar ,though I was allowed to briefly take the drums. My father was South African ,he was brutal - he told me that to be a musician you had to practice for hours at a time every day - he told me I didnt have the ability to do that , though the biggest reason why I wouldn't be able to be a musician was because I wasnt black and I didnt have a sense of rhythm. I was ten ,I was crushed. Drums ceased pretty much after that conversation , yet I never lost that urge that I had for the guitar. Long story short and many sadistic destraction later . ( I was put in a very terrible residential treatment center known as the Elan School) There I saw the few musicians that were also unfortunately put in this hell hole have their dreams crushed and destroyed by this place . I held my dream close - never told a soul- then it was 7 years after I left that hellhole at 25 I finally picked up the guitar and in earnest started working on my goal of becoming a guitarist . 7 years later I auditioned for John Patycula - he was the guitar department head at VCU at the time and to my astonishment I got in music school without any formal training . ( I am no prodigy though I never lost my passion for that instrument ) That instrument and my belief in God saved my life - and along the way I learned a few of your and Clapton's tunes - thank you . Peace.
Bobby,I’ve greatly enjoyed the videos I’ve watched so far.I did not know of your place in music history.Thank you for sharing your self.Your music, still today, touches me deeply.
Happy New Year Bobby and CoCo! You two have brightened up the world here as not too many people tell such great and funny stories. You both are a breath of good vibes and just plain ol fresh air and great memories, more, please. When to time finds you. Kind Regards, 👍 🙏 Maximum Respect, and Peace ~ Loo 👊 😎
Just found your channel the other day and have found it interesting and entertaining. I read Bobby’s book quite awhile ago and it was great. The interviews here further fill out the ongoing story of Bobby’s life. Stay safe and thanks to both of you for doing this.
it's surprising, even now that people don't recognize the force you were/are in any musical situation. I only wish you could have been featured as a instrumental soloist more on the records with Derek and the Dominoes. While I have great respect for Eric Clapton, I have equal or better respect for you.
My life's dream was to play the intro to Layla on stage. At 20 I bought my first guitar. By 22 I had found someone to show me how to play it. Now I'm 50 and still hoping!
HOLY MAMA 😃😂 made my day.. That's funny as hell. Wishing you both the best New Year ever and looking forward to hearing more of your great music together ❤🎶✌
Happy New Year Bobby and CoCo! They say that music is as close to a Time Machine as you can get!! Bobby God love you and thanks for all the memories! Saw you guys at the Filmore East!! back in the day!
These stories from distant times are cool and interesting, I imagine the stories Jim Horn or Jim Keltner could relate if someone could talk them into it. Thanks for giving us Bobby and his perspective.
🥳🎈🎉😷 happy New year Bobby and Coco hope you keep this RUclips thing going for sometime still it's really enjoyable here in these great stories I don't mind the drifting off in the segue from Eric Clapton's album The Stephen stills that was awesome. anyone who tells great stories that were there are just cool Dallas Taylor was a great guy it's a shame he checked out so soon. it's one of my distresses from the road after a long day of truck and is getting a notification you got another video up which is why I'm glad to subscribe wow it's curious to know though did Bobby ever cross pass with Leland sklar? I know he's got a fantastic RUclips channel now he's grown and hell he's played on like 25,000 songs or something through the years which is amazing but I just wondered had he ever met him or had the chance to have a hang with them they all got great stories.. be safe here's the 2021 and hoping things are on the turnaround. as far as working with Delaney I've heard those legendary stories with him and Bonnie after they were drinking and got to fight and they said boy she could hold her own too and you'd be surprised it's tiny as she was she could whoop some ass. 🤣
Bobby hit on a good point..I have a buddy who hasn't liked anything by EC since Cream. Some folks simply don't like him moving on from that phase of his career & finding other styles.
Ive always known who the band was... but I am so happy to of found you guys! Ive seen many of the videos before I realized what I was actually watching.. Thank you both so much ! From Up here in Canada in farm country ! You are both so much fun to watch! Thank you CoCo for being part of putting Bobby and his stories out front for us ! I would love to know if I can find a way to get on of Bobby paintings... they are a great way to start each episode/clip. Thank you both so much!!! Please keep. These episodes coming I LOVE LOVE to hear from you ...
Those little Jack Russell's are just a barrel of fun! I really miss mine. I kinda thought Eric went off exploring a bit during songs like Tell The Truth, albeit with a bit more focus than the old Cream stuff like Spoonful, but what do I know? Most kids nowadays would probably find even Dominoes breaks too long but of course, what do they know? You lookin' good Coco.
Coco, I shared your comment with Chad Watson and thought it was very cool. When things open up for live music here in California and you and Bobby have an opportunity to play some gigs, if you need a rhythm section to back you up, Chad and I would feel very honored to do so!!!! We can also provide a lead guitarist and sound and lighting systems as well. Keep the videos coming👍
Awesome interview, folks! It's a great thing to get these behind the studio door stories out. Very informative. Thank you for taking the time to do them. One part I was curious about. Bobby, you look a bit disgusted when you say Stephen Stills played bass with a pick. I've always thought the bass part on "Let It Rain" was a standout on that album. In tone and the part. I never knew it was Stills who played it until this interview. I was just wondering, what do you not like about bass played with a pick? Lots of great bassists play with one. Or both fingers and pick. Paul McCartney, Carol Kaye, Rick Danko, Joe Osborne, Bobby Vega, Anthony Jackson, Sting... to name a few. My personal favorite, when recording bassists, is a Fender Precision Bass with Flatwound strings, played with a pick. Just curious. Thanks again!
Interesting statement when you said “the dominoes were a grooming band for him” re EC and his singing. If that’s the case then he needs to thank his lucky stars that you were there to “groom” him. With all due respect to EC, I believe your influence and contributions made his career what it eventually became. I’d love to catch you guys ( Coco and you ) perform sometime. Thanks for all you’ve given us.
So your from Millington , my father was at the pea farm in the 50’s , he was a welder and he worked on the Shelby co. bridges while he was there , well he met Future Millington mayor Richard Thomas Hall , well he made freinds with him , brought him food and drinks and gave him a start when he got out , then he named me “Thomas” after him
Parents are an incredibly important aspect of a man’s or a woman’s decision to go into entertainment as a life work. You say that you were “born to sing“. There are some parents who spend so little time with their children - sometimes because they have too many of them without thinking of time and how much time each child requires! - That they do not even know what their children do best nor what gives them the most joy and fulfilment! Most of the time, the parents simply want their children to get a “steady job”: doctors, lawyers, teachers , etc . There is no such thing as a “steady job“! God gives each of us - sometimes at different points in our lives - something to do that we can feel His presence in how we do it. When you sing, the joy you feel is God’s joy in you doing what He sent you to do at that point in your life! Just as He also called you to paint! And perhaps He called you now now to tell the stories (which I do believe ARE therapeutic for you) that so enchant so many of us. Keep up the “good“ work and you will be blessed… as you are being blessed! And you are blessing us ...✌🏻💟🏴🇬🇧🇺🇸🏴🎼🎶🎵🎸👨🏼⚕️🎸
I had asked on another video but..U got any Jerry Lynn William's stories... A very underrated and little known artist as I am sure you know...but truly Talented singer songwriter / musician...and as u know composer of "Forever Man"..( I had played drums on the original demo of that song ) and worked with Jerry @ Shelter Studios Hollywood back in the 70's
@@BW-CC wow..really? .he was writing songs for Eric, Bonnie Raitt..Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc.. maybe after Bobby stopped working with Eric?.. Was Bobby with him during the time when "Forever Man" was out?
I have 2 copies of this album...2 completey different productions...often thought the version not so famous was produced by Delaney...who knows the story here?
Yes, there was the Delaney mix. Eric didn't want it at the time and went elsewhere to have the record mixed. Just recently the Delaney mix was re released.
Delaney Bramlett sure did push EC to make his first LP you can hear Delaney pushing Eric on the record on the vocals of Let It Rain timeless memories timeless stories
So Stills plays the first solo and bass on.let.it rain? I've listened to both the Delaney produced version and the version released originally to public. As I recall that first solo sounded similar on both versions.
Bobby Whitlock, I was wondering why Eric did not call on you for the album 461 Ocean Blvd. ? since you were on the great album with the Dominoes,? you may want to talk about it, you may not, My Best, Cousin Figel
Awesome brother Back in the day Wayback in the Day Old daddy Used to run around up there all the time all my family is from Batesville Mississippi my daddy owns a gas station in Batesville Mississippi They said he sold more moonshine than gasoline I guess those were the good all days my brother God bless you if anyway possible please let me know when you and Coco are going to do another show I sure would like to come see it I live in Dallas Texas you are a true legend brother
Ok Bobby I think its time you to do this together you and Coco . I would love to be the person taping it. I love these stories I don't think.this happens in music anymore. Its a shame.
You guys are too cool, love the interviews.I think the Dominoes were one of the best bands ever. I'm sure you were on the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour,I remember you from the poster I had as a kid. I'd love to hear that. God bless, Stay safe, Rock on 🙏😷🎶
I've always been curious to know how it really all started with Eric and Delaney and Bonnie.... As far as I can remember, D&B were opening for Blind Faith on the tour of North America, and Eric preferred the music of D&B, so much so that he would sit in with them before playing with BF. Bobby, what do you remember about that tour with Blind Faith, did Eric sit in and play, did D&B try to keep him.... What were your first thoughts on meeting Eric, Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood & Ric Grech?? Love to hear from you! Thank you ❤️
Dear Bobby and Coco, There is a short story to tell here. My friend Hilary recently gave me Patti Boyd's book, "Wonderful Tonight." Hilary is a writer here in Hollywood and loved the book. She wanted me to read it too...with me being a musician and all that. Finished the book quickly - it was really hard to put it down. An amazing story with a lot of intense detail, colorful people and faraway places. It resonated deep inside of me, for many personal and musical reasons. Immediately after finishing it, I looked up the Documentary about Eric Clapton called "A Life In Twelve Bars." Watched it on Showtime. It was like a continuation of Patti's life story that had left me with a desire to know more. There were so many emotional loose ends. Even after the Documentary movie had ended, I felt raw and sad about the relationships and the tragedy. But there was one song that lingered in me. Of all the music presented in the Documentary, that was the only one that I could not stop thinking about. Didn't know the title. I only could remember the scene that it played over and that it had an intoxicating guitar introduction/lick with the lyric, 'and I miss her.' I did not see it in the credits so I went to Tune-find and found it. Holy Moly!! - and Eric Clapton did not even write it. "Thorn Tree In The Garden" is an incredibly wholly beautiful song. I have not stopped listening to it for several days now. My ears are saturated with every little nuance of your gorgeous voice and the bands' instrumentation. I will soon go to the piano and figure out my key...it might be a step lower than yours. I will sing it a million times, sometimes with tears running down. Maybe I will record it...especially if it would be okay with you. I have listened to your story of how the song made it to the album and the fascinating reveal of how you recorded it with the band. Perfect!! I am so grateful for this gift of a song, this Christmas, this New Year. At a very difficult and lonely time with all the challenges we have all endured together. And, is it really about Peaches, your doggie? Wow, just wow, and thank you. From the bottom of my heart. Jeanne
Coco, you’re a super interviewer. When Bobby punctuates a story with that laugh it’s gotta make you smile.
Thank you so much

@@BW-CC Jerry also wrote "Givin It Up For Your Love" that Delbert McClinton had the hit on..

Hi Bobby, interested in any crossover you would have had with Steve Winwood
Columbia said No to Fred Astaire!
Any more JJ Cale stories?
461 Ocean Blvd. is one of Claptons best, no doubt....
@@BW-CC Thanks,...I've had the album for 35 years...(Delaney mix)...picked up from England
"Holy Mama"! 😄
Love these videos. CoCo you have the most soothing voice. Did ya'll cross paths with Joey Cooper?
That is very sweet, thank you.
excellent ! les petites histoires font la grande Histoire ! avec un grand H : TOP
Salut, merci beaucoup.
Salut Patrice, merci beaucoup pour votre commentaire. CoCo
True respect
Love "Easy Now" off of Eric's first LP- No Delanney credit on that one
Stills has been rumored to have done that first brief solo on "Let it rain", Was that possibly overdubbed at Criteria?
It was Criteria
What's wrong with using a pick on bass? I play guitar, but it's just a sharper sound, but just depends on what ya want.....?
Nothing wrong with it if it's your bag.. CoCo

God bless, Stay safe, Rock on 🙏😷🎶
No he wasn't
@@BW-CC Thanks for letting me know, I've got my wires crossed somehow, Rock on 🙏😷🎶
I've always been curious to know how it really all started with Eric and Delaney and Bonnie....
Thank you ❤️
Dear Bobby and Coco,
There is a short story to tell here.
I only could remember the scene that it played over and that it had an intoxicating guitar introduction/lick with the lyric, 'and I miss her.'
I did not see it in the credits so I went to Tune-find and found it.
Jeanne
Yes the song was about my little dog that was taken from me... thank you
Plus glad you like the song so much.
