I’ve noticed that when I even think about intermittent fasting, this triggers a binge! This helped me so much in realizing that even thinking about restricting can trigger bingeing!
I can't like this video enough! I agree that in our self conscious moments of feeling fat and awful we're think that others are thinking about us much more than they actually are. They might glance at us, have 30 seconds (or less) of thought and opinion and then go back into their own heads and their own concerns and worries. And chances are those thoughts they are thinking about you, if they are your friends, are kind or neutral thoughts anyway.
One thing which stuck out to me which you said at the start was that in trying to lose weight the binge eating gets worse, which is definitely what I’m finding now, therefore my question would be what else would we focus on? I think about wanting and trying to lose weight 24/7.
Bethan Coles The way I look at it is that we want to lose weight because we imagine weightloss will give us... [more confidence, more love, more worthiness etc]. Recognising that all the things you imagine weight loss will give you are probably available to you right now. Creating a life you want to live TODAY rather than a fantasy of a shiny, skinny future. Sometimes this process involves grieving. Grieving for the loss of the illusion. Just my thoughts anyway....
It’s really interesting thank you! I’ve already lost weight and know I was much happier and more confident than I am right now but don’t know how to move forward without thinking about losing weight, if you know what I mean? It’s going to take work and videos like yours will help me along the way I’m sure! Thank you!
I binge ate yesterday because some discouraged me from using the stairs. I have osteoporosis this cant be done. I walked for hours on no food and had heart trouble. Im 5st but want to gain healthy muscle because of this unhealthy attitude ive gained a spare tyre. My thyroid medication was also not optimised and have a very unattractive spare tyre.
@@TheBingeEatingTherapist I’m so grateful to you. I found your RUclips channel very recently and now I’m listening to your podcast as well. This particular video really resonated with me - after going through a particularly difficult year I’m struggling with panic over weight gain. Your words were comforting and inspiring. Do you have any specific recommendations for my issue? I want to eat all the time, even overeating healthy foods like vegetables. I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks again for the wonderful work you do. I can tell by the comments that you help so many of us that are struggling and sad.
@@ME-bo1xe I can’t really offer much at the personalised level with a small amount of information and on the whole my channel is dedicated to answering your question. Bingeing is bingeing whatever type of food. I’d leave you with some questions for you to consider if you wish: Are you bingeing on vegetables because you don’t allow yourself the foods you would really like? Are you eating enough anyway? If you took out the bingeing, would you be eating in a deficit (ie losing weight)? If so, the bingeing could be a way of getting enough in. Plus, all the emotional side of it that I talk about on my channel may still apply?
@@TheBingeEatingTherapist Thanks for taking the time to reply. You’ve given me much to think about and I’ll continue to watch your videos. They ALL seem very relevant to me in one way or another. You do an amazing job at this.

Can you recommend a video for managing emotions? I just can’t stop emotional eating 😞
