“Sexual assault with supernatural end” sums up this myth pretty well

I'm trying to write a myth based on the Fool's Journey. Aphrodite, Hermes, and Hermaphrodite are at play in characters and their subconscious. For some reason, despite Jung's Anamus / Anima, it feels like so much has been left out about the "Third Gender" in humanity's psyche.
I can't accept that a story that bridges myth, psychology, genetics, anthropology and more... is only about... "laughter." (That connotes an embarrassed culture that is ashamed of its inner life.)
And since the gods-goddesses were so important (... Aphrodite and Hermes..), obviously there's a lot more to the story that our current world.... predominantly locked in a duality of how it views the world.
So why is it in the human consciousness?
