- This Kamov Ka-26 belongs to Urbán Kft.’s aviation fleet. It used for agricultural flights around the countryside of Szekszárd.
It stations at Őcsény airfield or Gyönk.
This Kamov Ka-26 came from Ukraine in 2012 where she was operated in Borodyanka airfield.
The team had a lot of fertilizer work in Southern Hungary during spring. Since that they did not need the chopper, so it stationed in a farm near Kislippó.
After we finished the preparation tasks of the chopper, came the very very smoky cold engine start. They engines started little bit hard, they needed a lot of compressed air, but after that, the chopper operated perfectly.
My pilot friend, Gergő Urbán, did the engine test and than they were ready to fly back to Őcsény airfield.
After the take off he did test of the flight controls, then flew away.
Can you imagine booking a helicopter tour and coming out and seeing this thing being started up 😂
Wouldn't get me on any helicopter, flying bricks
Me subo igual
@@fandangobrandango7864 *Flying bricks that due to autorotation have a slimmer chance of fatalities in case of engine out than fixed wing aircraft
I’d fly in it in a heartbeat.
My grin would grow exponentially...
Looks extremely safe.
It is
Safer than a standard helicopter with a tail rotor
Is stronk Russian helicopter, fueled by vodka and souls of political dissidents. Cannot crash, hand of stalin will rise from hell to catch like capitalist baseball, will be fine!
i guarantee it'll work flawlessly until it's not
It is - no tail rotor to fuck up!
It’s not often that garden ornaments suddenly erupt in gales of smoke and fly off to Budapest.
😂🤣👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
All that work so they can mow that last patch of grass. Dedication
I've always loved the sound of a radial engine. There's nothing quite like it.
wow, look at that grass grown under and around heli. that shows how long it has been sitting there. and it still starts and flies? its just amazing
How long? Grass can grow that much in 1-2 month tops.
Not seen more than 1 season.

We were waiting for spare parts:)
I really love this old steam engine powered aircrafts!
my dude
My dude surly you can’t be this dumb
Radial engines always do smoke
Pensei que era 2 tempos.😂
I’ll watch it all day long. But fly in it? No thanks.

Now we can cut the grass.
and the grass is waiting for you
That was the whole purpose
Yes, I was hoping they would complete the video by showing a mower cleaning up the grass.
Lol made my day. observer
Couldn't they just use a weed whacker?
At 0:32 the engin makes a smoke-ring :D That looks so cool!
Possibly the best video ever offered on RUclips. What we see here, depending on how long this beautiful old bird has been sitting, is probably the result of 200-plus combined hours of work before attempting flight: checking, inspecting, adjusting, cleaning fuel tanks and lines, removing water, lubricating all moving parts, etc. Many probably believe the abundance of smoke at start-up is due to extremely worn piston rings and/or valvetrain components. Nahhh... very, very likely these gentlemen wisely, correctly and painstakingly pulled all her spark plugs out and squirted some oil into each cylinder shortly before start-up
(highly recommended before attempting to start any engine which has sat for a long time.)
Hearing an old engine come back to life after sitting for years is Gothic. Recently experienced that starting up my 87 Radian which had sat for 31 years. The sound, smell and sight was absolutely intoxicating.
I thought it was just there for show and than it took off, amazing! I really like the counter rotating ones!
All Kamov have them. ruclips.net/video/Rga-ybQNADc/видео.html
Maravilhosa recuperação e decolagem . Fantástico. Parabéns.
It's like something from Hungarian folklore: " You have woken me from my slumber..."
When I was a child one of this thing periodically landed in the backyard of our town’s Hospital. It was a great adventure too see how it takes off.
What a fascinating machine. Thanks for sharing this. ✌🏻🇺🇸
Bloody hell, it's not just a helicopter. It's also an industrial mosquito killer.
😂
LOL
True
well said amigo!
you probably don't know about it, but your joke is true. In Soviet Union, this helicopters, with attached sprayers, was used over forests and swamps to control populations of ticks and mosquitoes.
Axis Globalis
Axis Globalis
Me encanta !!! MECANICA REAL !!!! Abrazo desde Argentina!!!
Most awesome start-up video ever and one of my all time favorite rotorcraft.
Amazing video, and those engines look like they belong on a pod racer from star wars!
Now This is Pod Racing...
Sebulba here is gonna win the race!! 😁
Amazing observation, provided it flew first time in 1969 and first Star wars came in 1977, could be the pods which look like ka26 engines,😁
Thank you for posting this. I love the startup in particular. However, I watch Ka-26 videos mostly because there is something about them that my cats love. They think it is a bird with the contra-rotating blades!
If the compression is weak , pls machine cylinder liners out from old casted iron sanitary sewage pipes. Proved by experience. And it will work for some time.
I love seeing old aircraft fly again. 👍🤗
Gotta love these old russian helicopters and airplanes. The Kamov 26 and the An-2 are my favorites.
Not russian, soviet
Used to be Soviet, now are Russian.

Wow flying trabant thats perfect idea!
Wow, well done for getting her back in the air.
Looks 👍
What a unique machine, almost looks like something you would see in Star Wars. Impressive smoke show!
TheHDAviation "You came it that thing? Youre braver then I thought"
In Russian accent.... Smoke tells you engine is working.
Wrong. The white vapor at the starr may be just condensation due to the engine being left unused for too long, but excessive smoke means you have a problem with your fuel or oil seals that may lead to overheating and catastrophic failure of your engine.

What a beautiful machine. I love it 👍
I have always admired these amazing machines.
TRAKTOR 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Its quit badass and even sound like a hotroad, this is great
The "Hoodlum" has always been one of my favorite helicopters! I wish more were built!!
There's a certain beauty to not needing a tail rotor.
I am surprised this thing could take off due to the weight of your massive balls of steel.
no kidding, eh?
does service checking has been made on times ?
Hep , This chopper is like Putin with massive balls . Trump on the other hand is like a toy chopper with little balls .
It looks so happy to fly again.
love the smoke exhaust circle at 1:19
Bravo 😎👍
I see what you did there. Leave the only high grass right under the mosquito fogger! Smart
Fantástico!!!Depois de certo tempo parado estar firme e forte!!!
There is something post-apocalyptic futuristic about that thing...
Reinaldo Torres that's not brutalism.
It’s 100% function over form.
I think they used that same type of chopper in no escape with ray liotta. Kind of post apocalyptic I guess lol.
Yeah straight out from Simon Stålenhag artwork.
I notice that too. You play video games too?
I just love the KA-26. Great workhorse machine!!!!!
My favorite is KA-50. ruclips.net/video/Rga-ybQNADc/видео.html
Workhorse...it can't actually lift very much.
Just like an AirHogs, only bigger and smokier. Great job on getting this old bird started.
Love those big radials, but best to fly at a height you can survive the fall from. 25' would be ideal!
Na 19" would be better.

Lovely helicopter, lovely sound
Looks like a ship that should be in the movie Star wars.
A Tattooin travel wagon
Exact opposite. Kamov is older.
Amazing it has such a futuristic design. It doesn't look old. It looks like some sci-fi concept
that smoke ring that came out of the exhaust looked so cool
Crazy video. how is this not on my recommended list? I had to search for this
Never too late! :D
The fuel he uses is firewood?
They just chuck whole logs in there, Russian style.
Coal powered
Looks so 😂😂😂👍✌️
Classic
Yup. Boil the firewood first to soften it up, and release the aromatic fumes... Oak is best.
Fascinating helicopter.
where abouts did it crash after that?
Looks dangerous! Amazing looking chopper
The most badass agricultural aircraft ever!
That was beautiful to see! I know the pilot was so close to overcorrecting there at first. I did not want to see him crash.
He was testing the controls, that forward-backward-motion looked intentional
That was Awesome!!!
Parabéns amigos. Ótimo video. Abraços do Brasil! 👍
Awesome!! How does anybody give this a thumbs down?

Legend says he's still flying 50 ft. above ground to this day.
What are you doing here? lmao last person i expected to find in a random RUclips video about helicopters. (this guy has 5 million subscribers btw)
got any problem with hungarians?
Egri, what makes you ask that?
just a joke, friend :D
TechRax Legend says hi :3
Fantastic sound 5*****
This is about the fifth video I've seen of one of these, and this is the first one I've seen actually fly.
What a amazing looking helicopter
There's a video somewhere showing the instrument panel - which if anything is even more frightening. "Ergonomic" hadn't entered the builder's lexicon.
Legend says the cameraman is still waiting for him to return
And I am hungry af... :/
They trying to fly a monument 😂 and it worked!!!
A very robust design and a brave pilot!! Great!
I make sure I watch at least 1 ivchenco start up every morning at breakfast. Thanks.
We should probably go back to putting muscle car engines in helicopters
Scotty Kilmer recommends Toyota engines to be on the safer side
Back to? Did we ever?
No.. muscle car engines are crap for helicopters. Heavy, failure prone, not reliable.
You’ll never find a liquid cooled engine with a cast iron block in a helicopter-ever. Not even back in the 30s and 40s when they made the first ones.
Rotary engines -- they're quieter.
SkyActiv-X?
nice video. thank you
Beautiful ! If you took the shopping trolly undercarriage off it would look like something from Star Wars KAMOV GUNSHIP !!
Amazing! A smoke maker machine that flies !
That's my kind of helicopter, I am sure the neighbors would love it.
Sounds like a radial engine!!! Beautiful sound for a helicopter!!
Because you are right, its a radial engine! :)
Jo nepot! I love this Kamov and Hungary. 🇭🇺
I had a 72 grand Torino sport that sounded just like it
That’s one handsome looking helicopter
Once again suggested videos led me to you guys.
The amount of smoke rings the helicopter made are quite impressive
Smoke more than my Citroen 2cv starting !!!
In the beginning, everyone thought it was just a monument....😂😂
Happen sometimes with tanks left as monuments after the war :))
What a cute little helicopter
this thing looks like star wars. i mean it is known that they took inspiration from old aircraft, when making the original trilogy, but this thing genuinely reminded me of r2d2, due to its landing gear. and those pods just are SO friggin star wars

That's not smoke it's old school mosquito control
weirdshibainu radials. Oil pools @ the bottom of the motor (cyl head) and gets burnt during startup.
