Dennis, for your polishing step...what kind of DeWalt grinder are you using for the variable speeds? Cuz in the videos it looks like the same one.

I’ve seen some that go to a 1000, 1500, 2000, and maybe even 3000 grit before buffing. Maybe something like 220, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000. What is the reason for doing that? Based on your vid, it doesn’t seem to be able to get any shinier, so why would some run all the way through the grits? Thanks again

Well the theory is the smoother the finish, the better clarity and the easier it is to polish. Now most people out there use low to mid grade compounds so cutting through 600 is more difficult and leaves sander marks thus a dull shine, so to compensate they sand to a higher grit. If you use quality compounds sanding after 1000 grit is a total waste of time. If I high speed sand I go up to 1000, if I use a DA sander I stop at 600. Hope this made sense 😱

    Hi Denis,
Another great video! Is this actually stainless steel you're working on here rather than aluminium? Does stainless steel require a little more sanding work than aluminium and is this why you're carrying out sanding involving four different grits - 180, 320, 400, 600?

+Vintage120 you still use these 4 grits with aluminum just on stainless you need to sand at higher speeds cause with a DA it will take you forever.

+Matt Brisson hey Matt, ya I don't sell those on my site yet, they are very hard the find and the supplier I have is not reliable. Once I find a good supplier I will definitely be adding them. Sorry :(

No it doesnt...you're burnt..polished aluminum can be kind of a hassle to take care of...chrome on the other hand ..easy peasy...soap & water sponge//hose off...
