The Song became "popular" through social media, and as mentioned has norhing to do with the Nazis. While real Nazi songs as the Horst Weichsel Leid are more or less unknown to the general public.
I think that the narrator over analyzed the subject. As far Erika being a Nazi Steroype of a patiently waiting woman waiting her man and for the war to be over is a sentiment prevalent in much of the popular music in the US and the U.K. I am sure plenty of German soldiers got Dear Hans letters and the brush off but many were kept going by that hope.As far a the song writer being a Nazi many people joined the party for social advancement and it should be mentioned the Nazis did not require ideological uniformity like the communists .They paid their monthly dues , and kept their mouths shut .
you say in one breath: the song was frequently played at public nazi party conventions but there is no connection....how ? If it was played their is a connection ?
Its interesting that most of the western people don't like this song gets associated with Nazis but very quickly get triggered when see Swastikas which is originally Hindu/Budhist religious symbol (which is there from centuries)
@darkwood777 It’s interesting that it’s not censored in the US. Still, a lot of people seem to get upset from seeing it at all. I don’t think most people know it’s from Hinduism/Buddhism. Plus, the West includes Canada, Mexico & others.
Nope, the Hakenkreuz is as old as Indo-Europeans. There are spear tips from the bronze age in Germany already having them engraved. It's a symbol used all over the old world, including India, Japan and other Asian cultures, however it has just as long of a history with Indo-European people (which given their origin in north western India/ Iran shouldn't be that surprising, after all we are two branches of the same origin). Hitler in particular is thought to have been inspired for his by the cross the monastery school he attended as a child used above its entrance. It was also a common and often religious connected symbol in Europe before the NS era.
@Tyler_Skye77 because it isn't. Hinduism and Buddhism use it, however so have pagan religions and Christianity in Europe for millennia. It's simply a very old symbol used all across the old world by tons of different people and religions. It first appeared in India in 3000 BC. However there are already examples from Jericho that go back to 7000bc, Iraq that go back to 5-3000bc and the oldest ever found was in Ukraine going back to 10kbc. So no, this is not a Hindu or Buddhist sign, it's a sign used all over the old world that Hindus and Buddhists happen to also use.
@Tyler_Skye77 the entire reason why the Nazis adopted it was precisely because it was so widely used by tons of different civilizations. Hence some racist academics in the 19th and 20th century came to the conclusion that all these civilisations must be connected somehow and came up with the idea of the "Arian superhumans" that founded all of them. Hence the Hakenkreuz became a symbol of racial superiority and explicitly antisemitism (as they were seen as strictly non arian) within the west during that time.
and then when Angela Merkel , a former Stasi agent with the code name IM Erika ruled germany this song became associated with that : Connected to Angela Merkel, the germans who knew about her background started to sing this old song again. Her membership in the Stasi became never realy a point of discussion in public medias...in mainstream media...but this song"s new attitude was to unveil THAT ;)
Well, even a woman waiting for her man to return back hope is not necessarily particular to the Nazi party, although it fit their ideology as well of course.

good question, hard to answer. I think it is legal as it does not contain any "forbidden idea". On the other hand saying "Everything for Germany" was fined with 10.000€ this year as it was the not so well known SA motto. "Suum cuique" may get you fined as well as it was the "welcoming" sign on the gates of some concentration camp. It depends on the court, the person who said / sung and in what assumed intention. "Germany to the germans, foreigners out" currently is covered by free speech laws.

*Herms Niels* is a convinced National Socialist supporter so.. It's pretty much a national socialist Volk (folk) song. "Erika Lied" (song) is Folk Lore mastered into a Beautiful song. "nazi songs" is just meaningless..., It's either Revolutionary songs before the 1933 Revolution OR Folk songs like "Erika" or "Lisa Lisa" used by the SS, or "Annemarie" used by the Wehrmacht.
Context is all. The song itself may seem ‘innocent’, but it’s use by the Wehrmacht and SS as a marching song to invade sovereign territories, and commit such vile atrocities, for ever stains the song with Nazi bile.

For God's Sake STOP dredging up the Hate........................it's been pushing 85 years, let it GO!!
What was the title of the movie used in the clip at the end?
That's the thing. it's a lovely song.
Love me some low-effort AI narrated slop content that clearly has no agenda.
Thanks for this video. Far too often, ppl refer to anything in Germany in that era as 'Nazi' eg Nazi tank. Tanks don't have political affiliations......
I use this song as my national anthem for my country and it's called Republika the Republic of republika, I made the song but I renamed it and add My own lyrics, instead of loving a woman it's a loving the country and its people
Are you the leader of a micro nation? If so very cool.
@@tb7771 yes technically I do the thing is I no longer use Erika because it didn't really match the country so I use prussia's Gloria now, the Republic of Republika Stands Strong
All cultures have similar songs during war times. Mexico and the "French Intervention" and their song against "Mama Carlota".
erica-carnea is the Latin name for heather.
Forever the march king
The Song became "popular" through social media, and as mentioned has norhing to do with the Nazis. While real Nazi songs as the Horst Weichsel Leid are more or less unknown to the general public.
Great song....great people!
I have the song as Gaeilge in a song book we used at school here in Ireland. I can proudly say we kept out of that war.
Wasn't this the B side to 'Bomben Auf Engeland'?
Thanks for the info, reminds me of the Russian Katyusha
I think that the narrator over analyzed the subject. As far Erika being a Nazi Steroype of a patiently waiting woman waiting her man and for the war to be over is a sentiment prevalent in much of the popular music in the US and the U.K. I am sure plenty of German soldiers got Dear Hans letters and the brush off but many were kept going by that hope.As far a the song writer being a Nazi many people joined the party for social advancement and it should be mentioned the Nazis did not require ideological uniformity like the communists .They paid their monthly dues , and kept their mouths shut .
I love it. Only problem, every time I hear it I get an ear worm for days afterwards 😂
This is one of my favorite song ❤
Curious that this is one of your favorite songs when it has creepy lyrics about a "delicate little flower" with "scents" coming out
@@Ahov that's why i love it lol
@@Ahovit kinda the same with “Racing into the night” when most of the time we dont even know half the sentence but still vibing to it.
@@Ahov It’s about a man longing for home and longing to be with his “flower” or woman. Nothing more.
Love this song!
you say in one breath: the song was frequently played at public nazi party conventions but there is no connection....how ? If it was played their is a connection ?
Its interesting that most of the western people don't like this song gets associated with Nazis but
very quickly get triggered when see Swastikas which is originally Hindu/Budhist religious symbol (which is there from centuries)
Yeah, too much US centralisation. The world “does not” revolve around the US, but media treats it that way. (I say as an American)
@darkwood777
It’s interesting that it’s not censored in the US.
Man if only free bird song existed in 1941 for USA
and then when Angela Merkel , a former Stasi agent with the code name IM Erika ruled germany this song became associated with that : Connected to Angela Merkel, the germans who knew about her background started to sing this old song again. Her membership in the Stasi became never realy a point of discussion in public medias...in mainstream media...but this song"s new attitude was to unveil THAT ;)
Exactly! Thank you 😊
I couldn’t remember the details & I don’t think most people know this.
Yes I was always told it was a love song.
Well, even a woman waiting for her man to return back hope is not necessarily particular to the Nazi party, although it fit their ideology as well of course.
He refrained from ........... ? Or did I mishear ?

under this love song, the Wehrmacht overran the whole of Europe....
The Wehrmacht used many songs or marches. The connection of war (death) and love (life) is indeed intense.
...and didn't they bring love?
@@void1968able For some, they are, and I thank them for that, and for some, they are not, and they certainly don't like that song.....
Surely those women featured without hats were concentration camp staff-if so who the hell does the mixing? And at what salary?
Huh? What do you mean?
How do you know those women were concentration camp staff?
There were other jobs in Germany at the time besides working at a concentration camp.
Dosent matter what the song means. The mangi meant peace but hitler made it the swastika.
Apparently Warwick University has got its knickers in a twist about the conservative student association playing this at one its 'do's'... I am surprised, as there must be some highly qualified history lecturers there that should know better...
So whats the big deal?
como baixar
My question, is that allowed to be played in Germany in today's generation?
good question, hard to answer.
Me when playing HOI4 Germany

This is a love song. Or all English songs are also propaganda. When will this stop. I guess never. Children would understand it ....keep the hate going

Complete nonsense. Thgis song manages to be deeply militaristic even without the overt political references. In other words, pure propaganda.. Use your brain willya?
Oh well, still great. Better than the filth produced under modernity.
They lost and now we all have to live in a society. Bruh. Maybe they should've fought harder or something.
They couldn't have, they were alone against all fronts. If they finished off the British in Dunkirk it might have been a different story but still.
For what? To die?

Artificial voices should be banned.

Prost 🍺
Prost!
Propaganda
Cope.
Context is all.
The song itself may seem ‘innocent’, but it’s use by the Wehrmacht and SS as a marching song to invade sovereign territories, and commit such vile atrocities, for ever stains the song with Nazi bile.
