    “And I’m not allowed to complain about any of that because I fucked up on turn two. They played great, and I deserve to lose.”
    What a great mindset. You keep your own error in front, so you know how to fix it in the future. You acknowledge what it cost you. You compliment your opponent’s play, even having identified they’re learning their deck still.
    I love this about you, Brian. You’ve got such a good view of yourself in the game, and how plays lead to each other. It seems obvious with you spelling it out here, but not everyone would say, “Those three cards they have now are the cards from Ancestral, because I misplayed with Hullbreacher.”
    I know it’s just game 1, round 1, but how you respond to a loss really impresses me consistently.
    Love the content.

    I think in round 2 last game, your actual win con was PO picking up or drawing Metamorph becoming their Key. Then you can still have infinite turns

    Afaik, Justin actually hates this deck for being a glass cannon that parades the corpse of his beloved PO around like it's Weekend at Bernie’s. He played it a few times when the deck was young, but he's mentioned not enjoying it.

  • @CharlotteMimic

    I guarantee that at least one person at Eternal Weekend will try to Ancestral themself while they have protection from everything
    Good to know that that's something to watch out for!

      @@gatogelato0037 interesting! That makes sense.
      I haven't played with Ring in paper yet but announcing Urza's Saga triggers is deeply ingrained in me, and I assume people who play with the Ring a lot are the same:
      "Play land for turn trigger."
      "Untap, upkeep, draw, trigger."
      "Does Ring resolve? Trigger."

    What makes your videos so much better than the other MTG youtubers is you actually talk about the game.
    The rest seem to be having endless arguments with their twitch chat. I honestly can't stand it. It's a constant angry monologue about why twitch chat is wrong and they are right.

Watching others commit errors is a bonus learning experience for all the rest of us, as well as observing your thought process in real time considering plays and lines. Boy that 2nd match vs. BUG was nuts and so satisfing. Getting hit by 3 Forces, a collector ouph, an energy flux and of course he drew the ancestral with his 1 card hand and had a force of vigor. But the huge mistake the BUG player did was giving up his ouphe, this way you could use all your artifacts and that in combination with the jewel and the outcome drew you enough cards to come back. He should have kept the Ouphe back until he drew the 2 land and then play the Energy flux. This way your Ouphe would have died and he a a better clock and double hate on the board. But seeing the BUG player losing against his own stupid hate cards lets me laugh like a evil villain 😆

    If you skip a turn to untap Time Vault, does the protection from The One Ring end or keep going? In the match where you boarded out Karn and your key got exiled, was there a line to just hide behind protection forever and let your opponent lose to time? I guess you'd need a way to re-tap the vault without taking a turn... Maybe there's room for an Urza in the 75?

  • @firedrake110
    @firedrake110 Год назад +1

    Round 2 was a rough rollercoaster of emotions. Seeing you boarding out karn was concerning, for sure, but I'm glad you realised that if you give yourself protection from everything then pass the turn into infinite enemy turns, you're relatively safe lol
    I'm surprised that the deck doesn't have a single copy of power artifact in it, infinite colourless mana goes pretty far lol

  • @ybestone2790
    @ybestone2790 Год назад +3

    At the end of round 2 when you mention Karn lattice being an out (if you hadn't boarded it out) its actually even better than that since you can use its minus to grab the manifold key in exile and take all the turns. Not sure you're in the market to register the Great Creator again anytime soon but a good thing to keep in mind even if you're the one sitting across from Karn

      Yes. If you’re a Lurrus deck, you can have bigger permanents in your sideboard, then side those in and simply not reveal Lurrus as your companion. Or you can have bigger permanents in your main deck, side them out and then reveal Lurrus as your companion. Companions don’t care about your sideboard.
