Bro this was me in Colorado Springs during our first snow of the season. FSD was not happy. We had snow packed roads in most neighborhoods and highway and freeway was all wet. City uses liquid for deicing. FSD kept asking to take over. I have HWV4 with latest update in Tesla Model Y.
I don’t think FSD was designed to work, nor do I believe it will soon, drive in inclement weather. A little rain, yes, but snowy conditions, fog, etc. I don’t think so. Unless in the future they are willing to add radar or lidar, depending on visual only will be extremely difficult and dangerous. With experienced drivers, we know the condition of our tires and other factors that current FSD does not know, like watching out for black ice, slowing down on bridges that may ice over etc.
My Tesla daily driver is essentially the same as the one in the video. I agree that HW3 seems like it likely won’t progress to the point where we can enlist our cars in a future Tesla robotaxi fleet as Elon promised. But he did say Tesla would make it right at the last quarterly earnings call. I hope he keeps that promise.
Make it "right" is pretty vague, and there was no timeframe on that announcement either. I'm sure Musk would rather give a transfer to a Tesla with HW4. -just my opinion.
@craighermle7727 Musk is allowing owners of HW-3 cars to transfer their FSD license to a brand new Tesla with AI-4 now. So, in my case it will only cost me another $25K to drive the same model car with AI-4. I have a late 2018 M3 Performance with really low miles in excellent condition. I paid $78K for it before the $7500 tax credit. I love the car and it drives well. Sure there are some improvements on the 2024 model, but taking a giant depreciation hit and coughing up another $25K would be a hard pill to swallow. On top of that I paid extra to test their FSD software since being in the first tranche of public FSD testers. Tesla needs to take care of us original fanboy FSD testers. If they will up fit my car with AI-4 and the new cameras I’d be happy. Musk intimated that that might be possible if necessary.
Looks like your new to winter driving, I'm sure all that condensate kept obscuring the cameras - surprised u even attempted this test - tesla cameras not ready for that level of winter testing although I do agree over time they will solve it

Very interesting.. look forward to testing this out when it eventually snows here! (hopefully not too soon)
Love the 70’s guy insert in the top right corner. Very funny!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@ALLElectricChannel tesla should make that pop up on the screen instead of the red steering wheel - would have the same effect!!

Thanks for your insight. I tested FSD last year on my AI/HW 4 model Y like you, it was ok but not great.
@@ALLElectricChannel Im not sold on Robotaxi timeline - unless they got something they just haven't rolled out yet. Lots to work on.

You bring up some great points but the FSD can do the same things experienced drivers do with a little bit more training data.
What camera you use to film this if you don't mind me asking?
iPhone 📱

Elon says HW3 upgrade if unsupervised FSD can be delivered. Wait for the day when most HW3 will retire anyway, an empty promise.
Yeah hopefully he makes good on that promise. I think he will

@@finallyOK So in other words just buy a new HW4 car in hopes that it can do unsupervised; which is in no way guaranteed.
What version of the car software (not FSD) are you currently on?
In the video description
@@ALLElectricChannel Like I said I know the FSD version, I want to know the cars software version; it should be something like 2024.3x.y

FSD is supposed to be able to operate in all weather conditions, I personally have my doubts.
Not new. Been testing FSD for two winter seasons now.
FSD is no longer in beta testing. It is not "FSD BETA 12.5.4.2" as shown onscreen at 1:22. I don't think any release of V12 was ever 'beta' code.
Thanks for the comment that was my mistake on the typo. Yes, should be FSD (Supervised)
Hw3 feels like it’s at the end of life honestly these updates have been getting worse and worse
Musk is going to postpone the "upgrade" as long as possible. I'm sure the HW3 to the HW4 cludge is not going to be inexpensive.
@@craighermle7727They said they'd "upgrade" HW3, not "upgrade to HW4." The "upgrade" probably won't be that much better though.
Yeah, I agree. It’s been doing fine compared to my AI4 car but still room for improvement
Might as well defer the upgrade to hw5 as hw4 has the same issues just to lesser extend
@ my 2022 myp is falling apart at 50k miles, at least it’s rattling like crazy
this looks a lot like what I expected, FSD is a California thing only and will always be
Needs improvement, but don’t think it always will be a CA thing
So much for Robo Taxi....
Some challenges ahead for cold weather climates or when it’s raining. I believe they will overcome this.
