is it possible to CHOP a Sample, convert it to a program and then control the different stem layers afterwards ? actually just like "Serato stems" chop the sample, sequence it and mute vocals, drums on the whole sample (on every chop at the same time) afterwards as needed. is that possible ?
"Cause I've got new Dance right now" this was the type of recording that was part of trying to catch a "Dance Craze" theme, EG: Funky Chicken, Tighten Up etc...
In America, it's usually more ____ than you can shake a stick at. It's to indicate abundance. But I do have a new dance right now. I'm so tempted to get this or looked for that unnamed program to stem songs. I used do the phaser trick with the instrumental and original to get just an Acapella.
This is beyond INSANE!!! I`ve not long since seen an AI program that can do this and was impressed with that......now that function is in my MPC....Jesus wept!!!!!
Didn't expect to see some new MPC software today. Cool stuff, thanks for the overview! I love that you're using some really varied samples. Also, had a laugh at some of the wonky stuff, so no worries there :) I do hope that you're doing okay out there, though and I'm glad you're still jammin' with us, despite the wonk
I was looking for announcements coming from a huge event and saw the announcement. Since, great vids and got me hyped, this video somehow put me at comfort after all the hype. I enjoyed the hype though, this deserves hype.
Really cool to see this tech as it is something we've all thought about for decades. Interesting that it is not available in standalone mode yet... As the MPC is using pretty old hardware at this point I'm wondering how fast the stem analysis/generation will be. There's obviously a difference between something like a modern M series mac and the technology inside a 2017 piece of hardware. Will be interesting what Akai come up with... will people will be willing to wait many minutes or just resort to using a computer anyway? Could there also be a cloud option (e.g. like LALA AI) for those kinds of processes anyway? Also I agree that have more options in the stem separation screen is needed.
Great video! Thx for checking the stems stuff out. Sounds really interesting. I was wondering about the quality of the source signal as well. Thx for chjecking that out!
He’s actually saying because I’ve got a new dance right now. at least that’s what it sounds like he saying.. this is an awesome new feature. I can’t wait for them to release it.
I was beginning to think you were sort of done with the MPC, glad you were able to get your hands on this and looking forward to more MPC content, I hope they drop some more cool stuff this year.
@@dustinisnotcooler Word. Yeah, I started following him for MPC content when I got my Live 2 a few years back and I guess I just meant he hasn't been posting a lot of MPC content lately. I've seen him use more Maschine or other stuff even on IG posts. I just thought he'd maybe just parted ways a bit, so to speak. I'm glad that's not the case.
Very much not done with the MPC. I make music and play live with my MPC One. I’ve just not been active on here. I get asked a ton of questions that require detailed answers. Whilst I can still do some, I can’t do the sheer amount I get for free. That’s just here, I also get loads of emails. It’s great but I have to charge for it, limited time and small mouths to feed!
Been using ripX for stem separation, (very cpu heavy), half the time the lifts still have a flange/phase or pumping due to how the tunes been mixed. Nevertheless the software is really nice to be able to manually separate elements of a sound if the algorithm gets it wrong, as well as midi note extraction, and ok retime stretching if that’s your thing. Cleaning up the separations I find best with effects like you used, subtle chorus/reverb/distortion can hide artefacts, as well as eq’ing the different layers and then mixing them back together.
@@TUBEDIGGA I haven't used Serato Studio, but surprised that t did a better job, when it hasn't got many features like a spectrum editor etc.I originally found ripx good with flacs/wavs but not good with compressed, but they did update their algorithm and I got better. AFAIK applications use whatever algorithm won last years "sony's remixing contest".
You need to be connected to the computer, in controller mode, otherwise its going to sound horrible, there is no way in standalone mode it can do a great job, the cpu is not strong enough, this is the same thing when you Elastic Pro and Pro Ten night and day difference. This feature has been in Cubase for several years already, just dont understand why Akai can not address the converter issue, it seems like we just working in the DAW again with all these mpc as super midi controllers.
No. It just spits out up to 4 files and if the vocals happen to be on one side more than the other you just get a separated version of that which you can convert to mono thereafter.

Just used koala to split the Sample at 10:43 results were pretty much identical to yours . Are they charging for what is essentially free and open source code, I wonder?
It's going to be $9.99, which is absolutely fine. While the source code may be free and open source - not sure how true that is here - Akai have had to develop it into the MPC OS, which isn't free. They have a right to charge and it's peanuts.
@@MattUncertifiedtend to agree on that , but when it’s for a core function as opposed to a plugin , it’s what we call in engerland “the thin adage of the wedge”
Hey Tubedigga! I know you answered before, but how do you do screen capture of the MPCs screen? The stem feature is absolutely killer shit. Its way beyond anyones creativity. There are no excuses for not writing absolutely mindblowing music!
Yeah possibly. I stemmed out a different break today that had similar artefacts and used some simple eq and it sounded decent. Result vary wildly depending on each exported element.
As Long as Corporations have “intellectual property “ to leverage against US the employees….. there has to be a point where sample manipulation is no longer necessary infringement. I’m just saying.
Dear TubeDigga, You are one of the most Knowledgeable MPC users i know why aren’t you making content for the MPC like you used to? And leave our Aunties out of this
Partly because I gave away a lot of my special techniques a few years back and struggling to find anything new or groundbreaking to share. That's what used to keep me excited about making RUclips videos. I'm not very good at doing videos again from different perspectives, just for the sake of playing the numbers game and knocking out content. Also, I receive tons of tech support questions and other queries on here, Instagram, FB and email and simply had to monetise my work. Having 26K subs might sound ok to some but it generates less than $80 per month and at some point for reasons unknown, my videos weren't getting many views and it's a bit soul destroying when you've spent all that time working on them. I have a family to look after and nobody pays me for my time answering tons of in depth questions each day as if I'm employed by Akai Pro. But I hope to produce more for the channel this year. This feature will get a good bit of exposure as there's some good ideas I have for how to use it in less conventional ways. Thanks for the comment 👊
I have exactly the same thing, even better on Serato and Fl studio and completely free. Why does Akai, which is late in this area, make us users pay 10 Bucks? I find it small and petty
It does just as good job (albeit with limited options to adjust the result, but that may change) as Serato Studio (free version) plus it’ll exist inside the MPC, initially the software and eventually in standalone. I think $10 is more than reasonable for this upgrade, there’s no hardware that currently does this. They could include it for free but maybe they want to show the value in it, rather than give people the impression it’s a low value bolted on feature they can give away. Who knows? Maybe the $10 is the price you have to pay to get it first for MPC software and it’ll be free for standalone and included in MPC 3.0, whenever that comes.
No, we aren't. I'm an independent music producer, content creator and educator. Andy is full time employed as the main artist relations / content manager for Akai Pro. Our voices are very different although we both have southern English accents.

“Stems” is a bad name for this program.. stems is already the name for audio files that are saved out of a computer or MPC drum machine. Why not call it something else?:-0 like ISO’s?:-0
