I'm in the same position as you ,my kids bought me an mpc one just over a year ago .I'm finally getting better with it ,still have alot to learn .Ultimately its about having fun with it .
I just got mine 3 days ago I’m getting it slowly but I also have Serato Dj pro so I thinking I should just use my controller and take out what I want and put it on the mpc for a remix Day 4 I’m going to do just that .
Free upgrade would be dope as cats are already invested into the platform at least 600$ and serato offered it as a free upgrade. How ever as a software developer I know devs on this project were grinding to get this feature out the door so 9.99 is a great price.
Honestly, $9.99 for this is a steal. It could have been a free update, yes. But I don't mind at this price. It just sucks the activation is so terrible when you don't have a wifi enabled MPC. It doesn't work over USB. They really should fix that.

But be also ready when they come you and say it's all theirs, the owners. My advice is make your own everything , max is you can hear or do with samples, then create your own version, then remove the samples. You never become great, nor will awards stealing other people's creation under the guise of sampling. I say this to all, I hate sampling unless for creating unique sounds or ideas that are mine, not another person's left over.
I just updated my mpc to 2.15 and hadn't used it for awhile, so I found this new plugin a pleasant surprise , I thought it'd be like 50-90 bucks, so I was scoffing at it at first , but its a measily 10 bucks and works this good which is A+ stuff , I'm glad they offer it for such a great price , can't wait to try this myself

You dont own an mPC? wow you missing out a lot. I never liked the mpc because of their sizes and not enough audio tracks, but you can work around those infact in ways as great as a 24 track virual studio, but with these fun little addion here and there, Akai Mpc is must have for lots of things esp making your own sound libraries. I sampled DX 7 and many amazing piano that I dont need some piano plugin but create mine using the Mpc tht is a huge feature. I only wish it could give us 8 layers within a sample is one note containing 8 divers samples, but 4 well better than nothing. You could make your own conga or drum libraries ie live drum no need for likes of addictive drummer, etc that are too clean too nice, you could make your own rugged life like drum and man this is crazy.......... You need an MPC
It seems that the MPC stems separation algorithm is better than that of FL studio and Serato Sample. Really clean (i can't even heard any artefact on these exemple).
Thanx for telling us the price. I think 9.99 is very reasonable for this feature. I am sure it will be popular. Hats off to Akai for not price gouging the consumer. These plug in add up
