    The garbling of the audio reminds me of the late 90s mp3 algorithms 😁

      Late 90s MP3 algorithms? No any MP3 algorithms at low bitrate or WMA at low bitrate. Not the algorithms themselves which sounded fine at high bit rates 🙄

    • @pirateradioFPV
      @pirateradioFPV 6 месяцев назад +1

      Not really. You can still hear a difference between the 320kbps and the .wav but even those who pretend to care . . don't. You would shit yourself if you knew how bad the MP3 format for example crushed the hihats and as a result, there's a whole generation of kids who think hihats like that sound good. They don't, never did or ever will. It pains me every time I hear that encoding on the samples of the artists I like because it was and still is shit and anyone with the ears accustomed to the CD format know that. But to each their own.

      @@thank_you_thank_you For that ultimate lo-fi sound of the 2024. They will refer to these comments at the Reddit comment chains as it "garbling like the late 90s mp3 algorithms" . . I think first of those producers was born yesterday 😂

    • @endoflevelboss
      @endoflevelboss 6 месяцев назад

      @@pirateradioFPV Yeah I think at bitrates as high as 320kbps most psychoacoustic compromise from compression is so diminished that most people can't hear the difference. This talk of hi-hats sounding inferior is I'm sure absolutely true at say 128kbps but at the top end it's swerving violently into pretentious bullshit audiophile fantasy land.

    Just wanted to give you some huge props for speaking honestly and doing a fair comparison between them! Seems like it needs a little more time. Kind of surprised Akai didn't create a "Cloud Stem" subscription service and have the standalone MPCs upload samples to a web server that then creates the stems at high qualitty with the Desktop algorithm, and then lets you download them after they process. Sort of like the Splice downloading feature lets you pull in cloud based samples.

    I find that samples from vinyl or CD seem to be better for stem separation than samples from YT or Spotify, etc., and my guess is that file compression is the culprit. The more compression, the less dynamic range. This makes for less …accurate 😉 separation.
    TBH, I’m happy using Serato Studio for stem separation, then dumping everything into my Push Standalone, which kicks the shit out of MPC, for standalone warping.

    I was surprised they'd announce stem separation coming to MPC standalone because it's such a computationally intensive process and frankly... the MPC hardware just isn't that powerful. Pretty much any iPad/iPhone has significantly more processing power and Koala's stem separation can heat my phone up really quickly! MPC Standalone is going to struggle.

    i tried stemming prodigys poison on desktop using a pc with a mere n100 cpu. results were horrible. i havent tried anything else, but ill try with a pc that has 13500 in it. and will definitely try simpler stuff, shorter stuff, not entire songs. havent tried standalone and i do expect worse results than desktop. what i will definitely try are sample chops from sample packs that have a few instruments in it, see how that goes. i often find those that have, i dunno, interesting pad in the background or an effect that i like, so ill try grabbing those with stemming. i dont expect miracles, but happy accidents… definitely, lol. i just wish i could throw an entire techno or psytrance song into it, extract bassline, drums and etc and then using stems for djing. iirc native instruments had stems and you could purchase, mostly electronic music, songs that were stemmed right from the get go, and i always wondered why hasnt it taken off. take drums from song a, bassline from song b, effects from song c, pads from song d and everything vice versa and create a dj mix.

    Akai needs to stop. I understand it’s about business, but in 2024 processing power, and ram should not be an issue. Constantly introducing machines with a slight bump up and processing power. Also Ram. Smdh. I don’t care about new machines. I would much rather have a stronger system. We would pay for it in the 1990s we paid $4000 for a MPC 4000. I’m not saying they should charge that much . All I’m saying is that they can’t use the price as an excuse. The new stems feature sounds horrible on the standalone because of the processing power come on now.

    thats so stupid that there would be a quality difference, let the thing render for 5 minutes if it needs to, or have a HI Q algorithm for people that don't mind waiting for a good result.

    All the *belching* on the stand-alone version is un-usable for any real music!

    I’ll wait until they improve standalone stems 😂 this is BS. I can get better separation on my iphone apps

    The standalone stem separation is just trash, there are no 2 ways about it. hardly usable, maybe for some vocals. Although this was to be expected considering the hardware limitations it still feels as a let down. Akai should at least give you the option to use the better desktop algorithm on standalone but then maybe with limitations in sample size/length.

    Seems pretty overpriced for what you get. If it was beefed up internally it would be worth its price tag. Needs more horsepower. People are still going to use the hell out of it though.

    Oh my days, it's terrible. Even the software is bad, but the standalone is horrific. Still, it's no biggie to me as I would never use either. RipX and RX11 for me. Pro level.

    Stems... just a way to dive deeper into using pre-recorded music instead of taking the time to learn an instrument....
