- Another clip of the Jazz Chorus 50 amplifier in action (see my channel for more footage).
The JC-50 is the 'little brother' of the legendary JC-120 amplifier, with a 50w power stage and a single 12" Celestion speaker. There's not a great deal of content on RUclips of this particular model, but I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants a slice of that classic tone but doesn't want to shell out for the much more expensive JC-120.
As you can hear, it definitely captures that classic chorus sound, and it's one of my favourite 'best kept secret' amps of all time.
In this video I'm playing a Fender Telecaster straight into the JC-50 using a Van Damme cable.
My knees used to bend that way--many moons ago.😅
I have a JC-50 that I've had for 25 years. I installed a Weber Blue Dog alnico speaker and it sounds fabulous (I Still Have the stock speaker). I use mine with a Fulltone OCD and I've had people say they thought I was playing a really nice tube amp until they saw the JC. I also set the distortion knob to the minimum setting and use a footswitch to turn it on for a nice boost when I want it. It's also a hell of a lot easier to move around than a JC-120.
Sounds beautiful!
Beautiful Tele!
The bright switch on JC50 -Very usable on these low end amps
@daveydxduff Totally man. The 120 is such a classic but the 50 really does get you some of the way there without the hassle of having such a gigantic 2x12
Nice. Very Johnny Marr, The Smiths era, sounding.
Love the sound of a JC. :)
Awesome sound, and nice playing :)
what's that riff? love it
I know it only has 1 speaker, but can you get the true stereo chorus from this amp much like the same sound from a JC-120?
I play mostly Smiths stuff so I'm looking to get this because of the immaculate clean sound it has. Is it suited for bedroom level playing though?
Totally fine for bedroom level. I had many evenings in with this amp, and it was never too loud for conversation in the room.
What kind of settings do u have here?
