Fender Princeton, Telecaster & xotic BB Preamp
This amplifier is currently for sale in the UK -- visit zebpedersen.co.uk for details
Here's a quick video with some of the tones I've been enjoying this afternoon using the BB Preamp and my '70s silverface Fender Princeton. Even with a relatively lo-fi audio recording, I think you can still hear how just how clear and transparent the BB is, allowing the full tone of the guitar to shine through.

15" Mark I Mesa Boogie + xotic BB Preamp
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.12 лет назад
This afternoon I plugged the xotic BB Preamp pedal into my 1977 15" MESA/Boogie Mark I amplifier for the first time. Although the audio quality isn't perfect, having an iPhone handy makes it way easy to take snapshots like this (no surprise that there isn't anyone buying point-and-shoots, camcorders, Flip cams etc... any more), so here's a minute with the Mark I. You can hear the Mark I on its ...
1977 15" Mark I MESA/Boogie - Carlos Santana Style
Просмотров 21 тыс.13 лет назад
Carlos Santana is probably the best known MESA/Boogie endorsee, and certainly the longest running. Santana's Mark I Boogie amplifiers have helped define his instantly recognisable tone for four decades. While Carlos' playing style is unique to him, there's still a great deal of fun to be had trying to mimic his tone. In this video, I've set my '77 Mark I amplifier somewhere close to the Santana...
Fender Princeton Silverface (with Pedals)

Another demo video of my 1970s Fender Princeton amplifier. This is a terrific amp to chuck a few pedals in front of, and lends itself really well to recreating some of the classic tones of its era. On its own the amp has spades of that classic Fender clean sound and a beautiful built-in tremolo, a great base for creating your own tones with pedals. In this video I used: - Fender Telecaster - 19...
Roland Jazz Chorus JC-50

Another clip of the Jazz Chorus 50 amplifier in action (see my channel for more footage). The JC-50 is the 'little brother' of the legendary JC-120 amplifier, with a 50w power stage and a single 12" Celestion speaker. There's not a great deal of content on RUclips of this particular model, but I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants a slice of that classic tone but doesn't want to...
Roland JC-50/Fender Princeton Stereo Delay

The Princeton is currently for sale in the UK visit zebpedersen.co.uk for details I was playing around with repeat delays using my BOSS DD-3 delay unit, and decided to record this quick sample. The signal goes straight into the DD-3, and is then split between the Princeton (with tremolo) and the JC-50 (chorus, reverb) using a Startouch ST-1 ABY pedal. It's possible to get some really massive cl...
MESA/Boogie Mark IIB Demo
Просмотров 19 тыс.14 лет назад
Here's a few tone samples from my 1981 MESA/Boogie Mark IIB combo amplifier. In true Mark series tradition, it's a 1x12 combo loaded with an Electrovoice EVM12L speaker. This particular example had some of the desirable optional extras added at purchase - 60/100W switch, graphic EQ and spring reverb. The tolex is actually a standard option, in the early Eighties Boogie offered a choice of the t...
Fender Princeton Silverface Demo

A couple of clean sounds from my Silverface Fender Princeton amplifier. The Princeton is a really brilliant little combo - a single 10 inch speaker, two 6V6 output tubes producing 12 watts of tone, tube rectification and a beautiful tremolo circuit to boot. If you want a proper vintage tube amp but don't want to spend stacks and stacks of cash, these are such good value - you can crank it and n...
what's that riff? love it
Hi..how do u stack 2 amp at the same time?
My knees used to bend that way--many moons ago.😅
I know it only has 1 speaker, but can you get the true stereo chorus from this amp much like the same sound from a JC-120?
Sounds good. However, to REALLY nail the Santana tone you need an Altec 417-8h Series 2 speaker in it.....like Carlos has in his.
You should upgrade your speaker try a Eminence Swamp Twang are a G-12 I have a 1982 Mesa Boogie Mark 2 B and I installed the Eminence G-12 and I put some JJ Tesla Tubes and you should here this Amp now it sounds 100 times better with the these upgrades it was worth every penny.
Is the eq engaged?
I honestly can’t remember, although I don’t think so. How funny looking back at 8 year old demo vids - the tone is definitely better than the intonation 🤣
Nice playing of “Waiting On A Friend”.
Nice video dude. So many people doing amp demos don't even bother putting a mic up to it. It's like, you're basically showing me how your room sounds you know? Here, you can actually hear what the amp sounds like. Nice playing too. Not a huge fan of the overdrive pedals, but the straight amp tone sounds great. I'm honestly still on the hunt for a OD that I connect to.
kickass!
What kind of settings do u have here?
Beautiful Tele!
Sounds beautiful!
Best boogie ever made
Excellent demonstration of the many MK IIB tones ! Extremely versatile amp, I prefer this over the high gain sterile & bright tone of the IIC+. The IIB is much more organic, touch responsive, and covers more tones that the C+ cannot. The IIB nails my favorite Zeppelin / Page tones perfectly as well.
I have a sf twin reverb made to blackface. its insanely loud. I was going to get a princeton but even this seems too big for home. maybe a bf champ?
Are you still in love with the jc50? I am looking for a good clean amp and have many offers of jc50 and jc120. Have you ever tried both side by side? I can play them maybe, but it's a long trip for me, which is not possible at the moment for me.
good job. sounds good. I just got a 1974 Mark I !!!!
Very nice ! One of the 1st available to the public !
have the same amp , original mark I 15 inch speaker but without eq, had evm15l pro line in it , it was worthless ... and than , i acquired mint original altec 418b speaker ... my ampeg vt 22 lost its job ...
Sweet the Mark I mode in the Mark V is my absolute favorite part of the amp. Never would have thought that
I play mostly Smiths stuff so I'm looking to get this because of the immaculate clean sound it has. Is it suited for bedroom level playing though?
Totally fine for bedroom level. I had many evenings in with this amp, and it was never too loud for conversation in the room.
The bright switch on JC50 -Very usable on these low end amps
Awesome sound, and nice playing :)
Dimed across the board my man, that's the beauty of a 12W amp!
Not through this amp, but I tried the AC side by side through a reissue Princeton when I bought the BB Preamp. Amazing sounding pedal…BB was slightly more versatile, but it was a tough choice.
If u ever, EVER, consider selling please let me know, i have a rs signed 78 mk1 head but iv been looking for the 1x15 awesome sound
It'll be written with the builder's initials on the bottom of the amp chassis - this one is RCS 09-77 (i.e. Randall Smith, September 1977).
Thanks man, this was my 2008 Deluxe Ash Tele
Ever tried an AC Booster through that amp. I bet that would be fantastic too!
what are the knobs set at??
Very nice tone. What year/model is your telecaster?
Nice. Very Johnny Marr, The Smiths era, sounding.
No prob bro, glad you enjoyed it!
Because of an amazing amp, and that kind a playing. Thats what brings dislikes. If you gonna play for 40 seconds on that kind a amp, at least try your best!
-will hier nicht meine private email adresse eingeben...
hi, ist der amp noch zu haben?
Great sound man
I'm selling this amp. Location: Berlin If anyone's interested and can make a reasonable offer then hook me up, please.
Amp sounds great!
Thx again zab! Great sustain the amp has!
@tubeknoppert Somewhere in the region of 8 on V1+V2, T-7, M-4, B-4. Graphic is probably disengaged, master volume around 4. That's off the top of my head but I think that's about what I run with that guitar normally. Cheers!
Sounds good! Can you tell me what amp setting was? Thx
Put some emotion into it. Think about your vibrato. Caress the neck
@zebpedersen thanks for the suggestion dude :) but mesa seems to have only super expensive amps...i don0t want to spend more than a 1000€ at worst...
@Smargiasso33 Remember that the Stiletto has EL34 output tubes and is a totally different vibe to what you're after (it's really a British flavour). Try a Lone Star if you can, and a decent Mark II will get you into Fender territory on channel one and switch right up to the best lead tone period. Lone Star is probably your best bet, though.
@zebpedersen mmm...a friend of mine has the stiletto 50watt...it is a super amp but it has not the fender tone you talk about...which model could have a fender tone? i think only fender can....
@Smargiasso33 If you want the Fender + hi-gain vibe then you should look at getting a second hand Mesa/Boogie instead. The Supersonic is a nice amp, but Boogie amps are the real deal.
@zebpedersen wow that was very cheap wasn't it? the only thing that i don't like in most of fender amps is that they don't have a gain channel...the only one i found is the supersonic 22...what do u think about that amp?
