I'm in the "Love him" category, I was five when he came out. I remember digging his card out of the trash, my parents should have been worried.
Great video Tony. Very interesting to hear his back story.
I loved my Bulletman, I'm surprised to hear he didn't sell well.
I remember I had Bullet Man when I was 4 or 5 in 1977 or 78 when I lived in Lagos Nigeria. This is the first time I have seen him in 41 years, and Captain Zargon, wow! Interesting video and great to see them again. Cheers.
A great review of a toy I never new had a history dating back further than gi joe and action man
Brilliant video Tony👍
Loved the history lesson of Bulletman.
I'm a big fan of Golden age comics characters so when Dynamite Entertainment did Project: Superpowers i was chuffed! However i had no idea the Bulletman from back then was the same one used in Action Man until now. Thanks for the vid :)
excellent video, full of information, thanks Tony
always wanted Bullet man. i remember a commercial where you mail in the Proof of purchase from the Bullet man packaging . Hasbro will send back to you a box of random Joe equipment .
Always wanted him. I owned Tom Stone and Atomic Man.
God,seeing that box after all these years took me back. Me & my brother had 1 each we gave to the young kid next door along all our action man stuff in 86 when we moved.
This video was very informative. I knew of bullet man, but didn’t know about him.
As a child, I received a Palitoy Bulletman as a present from my parents ( during its initial release in the UK ) and I would spend hours fixing string zip lines from my bedroom ceiling, for Bulletman to " fly " into action.
As a comic book collector, ( from a very young age ) I absolutely loved the addition of Bulletman to my Action Man collection and had no problems letting him join my soldier, pilot, deep sea diver or atomic man, on their missions.
The only complaints I had about Bulletman were concerning the hard plastic hands and the face sculpt.
I would have preferred the hands to be in the shape of a fist or a flat hand and the head sculpt to look more like Action Man, but that's just my personal opinion.
I had one with the removable boots.
Remember owing Bulletman as a kid in the late 70s
I remember seeing the commercial on TV as a child.
My Dad got me Bullet Man for Christmas 1975 he would fly on a wire across my living room great memories
one of my favourite toys as a child.
Bullet man always seemed a bizarre edition to the line for me. Guess I was one of those kids. Lol! Loved Rom and Atomic man too.
Had one as a kid.
I had Bulletman. And Atomic man....as well as much of the Super Joe team.....Also I had Rom the Space Knight....
.damn I miss the 70s
great video tony.
i have my childhood bulletman which i picked out a bargain bin.
i can tell you from first hand experience, the rubber joints used on the arms will turn to powder over time. i find it hard to believe any survived to this day as it was the nature of there joints to degrade.
I got this as a present back in the day . I had never even heard of it at the time , it did not had any advertising associated with it that i see , and as a little action man fan at the time I was always on the lookout for news. Never did like though that his arms and hands were just solid plastic , it left him a bit lacking in play options similar to Intruder.
Great stuff Tony, this fellas took center stage in my VAM collection over the past couple of years 👍
Tony happy holidays to you and family.Thx for the Bullet Man presentation, you always deliver a great pitch.Be safe be blessed take care everyone.
This is easily the best, most comprehensive history on Bulletman I've seen. As a kid, I had no problem with introducing Bulletman into my play as my Adventure Team Joes were already working with the Six Million Dollar Man, Pulsar, and the Mego 12" figures, and were accustomed to such oddities. 😄 Unfortunately, when I pulled my Bulletman out of storage several years ago he had fallen apart but I was able to repair him with advice from the great vintage GI Joe community on Facebook.
Bulletman is an awesome figure! If I had one I'd probably display him with the Megos since I feel like he fits in better there.
The biggest disappointment of the GIJCC was that they never did a new Bulletman.
Very cool. Bulletman was one of my favorite Adventure Team members as a kid.
I always wanted one but never ever found one. I did have the Intruder but was very disappointed in both his size and articulation. Even though I used it with my Mego 8" figures. Good opponent for Hulk or Thing.
I didn't have a Bullet Man and wasn't really interested. All my AM were Allies V Germans. I never "got" The Intruder either... a 1970's Bill Oddie in a bathing suit doing battle with an entire army !!
Great video though, Tony. I never knew that Bullet Man was a comic book creation.
I got him for my 10th birthday! I absolutely loved Bulletman!
I’ve always wanted one, it’s a pretty cool figure and I still can’t get why so many people don’t like it
Neat history, I completely forgot about Bullet Man...LOL. Never realized he was an honorary “Joe”! Cool!
I had this Guy great toy from Action Man but I don’t remember the rockets on the boots he also had a line he could slide down with excellent 👍🏼
Very interesting! Good job@
This is a really interesting and awesome figure. With a more interesting story
Bullet Man has to be the strangest but COOLEST G.I. Joe figure ever, at least in my opinion.
I had this toy when I was five! Even at 53, I can remember my aunt taking me to k-mart to get it, and I can remember playing with it the entire day, but nothng else about it after that. I guess I got bored with it really quick. 😅
Great video👍👍👍
Awesome Backstory Tony!!
Exellent Tony 👌!!
a strange figure but the crome pops
So Bulletman fights Cobra and Kobra.
I still remember that print ad from the comics...
I had Atomic Man, Bullet Man, Tom Stone and the Desert Fighter. I loved the mission to captire the intruder when I was old enough to understand that not all of my figures and vehicles were from WWII so I could not recreate it accurately. Sadly, I don't have the team members now save for the Desert Fighter, and he is a 40th reproduction, but I still have the Intruder. I liked the science fiction element the character brought to Action Man as I created the scenario that the Space Rangers had recruited elite soldiers from 20th century history to fight the invader.
Bulletman was my favorite as a child. Still trying to find out who the head sculpt is based on. Any way you can find out Tony?
I doubt it was based on anything. Most likely the sculptor dreamt it up.
@@AnalogToys I was just hoping since you have interviewed and have access to some of the original creators you would be in a unique position to find out. That is a question that never get's asked. Who inspired the faces of G.I. Joe and Action Man?
I absolutely love Bulletman!! I had one back in the 70s and it was one of my favorite action figures. That's one I wish I had kept.
Just curious though...has anyone seen pictures of John Cena from Peacemaker?? First time I saw them, I was thinking, "Holy crap!! John Cena is playing Bulletman!!" But alas he's not. I guess he's some character from Suicide Squad and is getting his own spin off. But damn, that costume sure resembles our 70s friend...at least in my stupid opinion.
Today, DC's claims would be laughed and hurled out of court, given the very different premises of both Superman & Fawcett's Capt. Marvel.
That’s not true. D.C. won the case because Shazam’s stories were rip offs of superman not the character
@@ComicJunkie
Given that Superman’s powers were never from Magic and that Capt. Marvel has the personality of a kid even as a superhero, how can he be a rip of off Superman to begin with?
@@joseeveliomonzon1907 so you haven’t heard about what William Fawcett said to Fawcett employees which was to “give me a superman etc etc etc”
I got this for my 7th birthday in 1977.
I bet the designers of these toys and storys spent a lot of time .....'relaxing' when inventing this classic toy line
If you read issue 3 of “snake eyes: deadgame”, you might be surprised who shows up 😉
A strange looking AM but was fun.
@0:20
A Bulletman figure for the price of $1,000.00? Santa Claus will go bankrupt if collectors asked him for this.
I remember when Mike Powers and Bullet Man came out. I had to pick between Mike Powers and Steve Austin, I was Steve Austin fan all the way.
Still have my original Bulletman and Intruder, strong man from another planet, Steve Austin and Bigfoot & Maskatron, ( unfortunately the Oscar Goldman face disappeared)
Quick question on your Hasbro version of him, the chrome looks more like it's spray painted than chrome. Is this how they all look. The Palitoy versions chrome is really shiny. It's the only version I have seen so can't compare the two. Cheers
Mine has had a spray paint repair done. Originally the chrome was exactly the same as Action Man’s.
If you want to send me his arms and helmet I can chrome them for you gratis, always happy to help out channels that entertain me personally!
Its Destro
you know. this video got me thinking. what if Palitoy aquired the DC listence to make a Batman Action Man figure. one with complete removable parts including a removable cowl and a utility beld that could store Batman's Batarangs and gadgets inside ready for him to use. how cool would that have been?
Ideal did exactly that back in the 1960s with their Captain Action range
@@AnalogToys i do know about that. and that figure was amazing. speaking of Captain Action. will you ever do a top 10 best vintage Captain Action Uniform and equipment sets?
Great video about a weird footnote in Joe history Tony 😎👍🏼 Fun fact, Bulletman was also spoofed in the Tick cartoon from the ‘90s: ruclips.net/video/kqekn0scORI/видео.html
Four on one hardly seems fair. Clearly they could have used more bad guys.
Bullet Man didn't become a resounding success because...
Unlike all the others in the GIJoe/Action Man series- he was not able to "expand"- as in, what equipment would he get from the quartermaster's stores?
Due to his unique physique and characteristics- he remains limited in any need for weapons, vehicles, garments etc...
The price of being virtually self sufficient and invincible...
Hope this helps...
"Fire me boy!"
It's "a" Bullet Man, but not "the" Bullet Man. Hasbro never intended any connection between the two characters -- it was simply a generic concept they could use.
A superhero with a bullet shaped helmet who is also called Bulletman is hardly a generic concept.
@@AnalogToys, there is no intended link between Hasbro's Bullet Man and the comic character. Hasbro may have used the concept as a springboard for their own Bulletman character, but to infer that this toy is meant to be "the" Bulletman requires some concrete proof on your part.
By the same token, will you provide concrete proof that there is no intended link between Hasbro’s Bulletman and the comic character? Just sounds like an opinion to me.
Your arms and helmet are not shiny lol
I'm sorry but Bullet man, atomic man, Intruder, capture copter are just shit.
They will never be in my collection.
So...Bulletman was a steroid abuser? Thats kinda interesting.
Has your Bulletman's arms and helmet been refinished? It looks like a different variant, mate.
