That’s a great role Model to be 🤣🙌🏾🙌🏾
Start the charcoal with a stick made fire. Trust me
@@drmg735 should you fan the coal?
@@huss9629 well you do want to provide oxygen so yes
This guy sounds like a dad who wears sandals and tucks his polo shirt into his shorts so I trust him

Grab some charcoal
*Make sure it's your favorite*
Yes, make sure of that. Different coals such as mesquite and hickory add distinctive flavors to the food.

And if you want to get rid of your laptop get a metal clamp put the laptop on it and undo it and there you go laptop destroyed!
Make sure to have your dial pad up to call the fire fighters
@Greg Pettis yeah me too
Clear and straight to the point. I’m bbqing for the first time. Thank you
I'm sure you will do fine. I tell most first timers, if it starts to get out of control, just shut the lid and shut the vents if possible. There's no need to use water and it could make it worse. Also get to know the levels in your grill if you have them. Works like an oven. As the coals start to burn away your food might start to cook a little slower. You can use the height adjustment to either move the coals closer to the food or away from it. Its takes time but the more you use your grill, you'll develop a technique. Have a good day.
What's the difference between grilling and bar-be-quing? It seems white people say grill and black people say bar-be-que.
Girl I went to Culinary school and work in the industry as a chef but charcoal grilling is not my strong suit lol! So thankful for this video. Forever learning!
How did it turn out?
People who make “How To” videos are The Real MVPs!!
Thank you so much! Usually my boyfriend grills but I want to have some steak ready when he gets home tonight! You’re a lifesaver
You got this! Just take your time and make sure that the coals have ashed over. That way you know that the fluid is burned off.👍
Damn, do you have a sister? 😁 Hope it turned out good!
Your boyfriend is a lucky man.
Your boyfriend must love you. Lucky fella.
Women just can't occupy a masculine space without being harrassed.
Trying to learn because my significant other didn’t want to do a cookout. Trying to not be dependent and just be able to have a cookout whenever I want to.
Take your time and have a little patience and i think you’ll be ok. Once you get it started, cooking the food is another small hurdle. Anyway if you are using fluid make sure your coals are white and orange looking before you put your food on. You don’t want any of the residue affecting the taste.
Literally same situation
I like that .💪🏾
I’m back again to this video. This time I no longer have a significant other and will be doing future cook outs on my own.
Honestly, I felt kind of stupid looking this up, but thank you. Hopefully my sausage turns out
Nothing is stupid when you're trying to find out answers you need. Just take your time and you should be alright. Thank you!
@@Meanpooh in case you were wondering, the sausage could have been done more but the brats were great
@@GrumpyTy34er Congratulations, sometimes pork is a little hard to cook without burning them. Glad everything went all right.
It worked great for me and I’m a first timer! 👍
You ain't the only one lmao
Now this is how you do bar b q fast and easy , not like them other videos that take 30 minutes just to light up the charcoal.
Thank you Brother👍
My friend! Thank you, this was a lifesaver! We wanted to light a firepit but we only had charcoal. Your method was the only one that worked. Keep being awesome dude, always abide.
Thank you!! I feel like a grill master now. I’ve had great success with this video. Thank you!
So glad!
Thank you this was so helpful I can’t tell you how many of these I have watched but yours is the first to actually make sense thank you
Thank you very much. I tried to make it easy as possible. The only hard part is keeping the temperature at a certain degree but it will come with practice. Sorta like using a stovetop without thermometer.
We have the same surname. 😅
Hey fam
This was awesome. My father n law was not around today and I did it! Thanks to this video I had a perfect grill going.
That is awesome! I'm glad it worked out for you. Sometimes its really hard to follow instructions online and get it right. Hopefully you will have many more days grilled food. There's almost nothing better. 👍
Read the title and went straight for the torch next to my dab rig. Many thanks earthwhile relative!
Anytime.
"Torch next to my Dab rig" Lol 😂 I did the same just now!🤣🤣
same thing i use to light mine
Thank you! I just bought a charcoal grill and never knew how to grill! Video was very helpful 😋
Awesome, glad it helped.👍🏽
just buy a charcoal chimney. lighter fluid is shit
Thanks for the tutorial! Wife and I off to grill some kebobs tonight. Cheers
You’re welcome! Yummy 😋 👍
It’s honestly better to use a chimney to light this. If you don’t have one, it is better to grab some twigs or starter for your fire and put that beneath the charcoal to get the heat to light the charcoal evenly.
Omg! Thank you for this 👍🏼
Thank you. I have just been given a charcoal bbq for Xmas. i have only used gas bbq's before so your video has helped. Merry Xmas and thank you
You're welcome and Merry Christmas to You!
Great video! Thank you for sharing this was very helpful!
Thats Awesome that it helped. You are very welcome.
Thank you!!!! I really appreciate this video. I had so much trouble maintaining a grill 🔥!!!!
Glad to be of service Brotha 👍
Thanks this helped me soo much!:)
Im glad it helped you out! Makes me feel very happy when people get the results the were kinda expecting from a video.👍🏽
don't light the lighter fluid right away. let it soak in for 2 min or so
I just tried it...and his method works! I always thought that when the fire goes out you need to add more fuel and light it again...but all I had to do was wait! Thanks for this simple video ✨
You are welcome and congratulations! Have a safe Memorial Day!
Thank you 🙏🏾✨
First time griller everything was easy to understand thank you sir
Thank you very much. I tried to make it as simple as possible. Some people get impatient and try to add more fluid to the coals after lighting which will make your food taste kinda funny. Trick is to add just a bit to get them wet then let the residue burn off.
@@Meanpooh thank you so much for this tutorial. I thought that the fire was going out once the charcoal turned grey. When do you know to add more charcoal?
You shouldn't have to add anymore but if you have a thermometer on your grill and you notice that the temp is going down you could add more. Thing is some coals have residue on them and while it's burning off, it could get on your food.
You have 2 options.
If your heat is going low and you think you may need only 5-10 more minutes, you could lower the food to the coals provided you grill is adjustable.
2nd, you could use a chimney starter and have the coals ready to go. I have a video here.
ruclips.net/video/YhGvGooFN8w/видео.html
Theres also a card for the video in the top right corner of this video.
All you have to do is just add them. Move you food to the side and then drop them in.
Hope this helps.
BTW, after a few grillings you'll know exactly how much to add. Its better to add more than not enough.
Thanks for doing this video. Me and sis was trying to get it working and felt that we failed. The video showed us we were doing it correctly so thank you 😁😁
Great, so how did it turn out?
@@Meanpooh well we need some practice lol

I can't put into words how much I love this video
Honestly thank you so much 🙏🏻 Starting a grill is something ive been so terrible at but thanks to you... im nearly a master on the grill 💕🙏🏻🔥 I appreciate you!
You are welcome! Comments like yours are very much appreciated and makes me happy that someone has actually found the video helpful.
BTW, if things get really out of control while cooking, just shut the lid and close the vents. It will suffocate the fire, now if the house is on fire call 911.
Thank you so much. Saved a life and some burgers!
Great job!👍
Thank you.. totally needed this.
You are welcome and I love the game that I hope your name is based on!
Nicely done!
I tried to light my grill and someone called the fire department.
You're kidding?! 🤣
Same thing happened to me, but an ambulance showed up. The Emt was actually on his break so he gave us some tips and ending up getting a bite with our family.😂😂😂
Lol!!
you made this easy for me. thank you sir
Thanks! I just cooked brats on the grill instead of the stove cause they taste better on the grill.
👍, So yummy on the grill!
Appreciate this video I’m bout to get on the grill for the first time ever lol but this video was so helpful wish me luck!! 💪🏾💪🏾
You can do it! Make sure you let the coals ask over to burn off any fluid residue with this method. 👍
Your the man! Im very impatient and this video helps a lot!
Glad I could help! Just make sure that all the coals are white before adding food and do not add any fluid while cooking. Food will be ruined. If you don't like using fluid there is a Chimney starter method that I have linked in the video.
Thanks for the tutorial! My boyfriend is on a fishing trip and I wanted to make some hamburgers tonite and haven’t grilled by myself in a while. Now ... I got this !!!! 😋
Wish i found this before I started 😆 it's my first time

Just wanna say I love you and thank you lol you helped me today! Happy 4th 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Do you leave the cover/door open while the charcoal is burning or do you close it and open the vents all the way?
I leave it open.
You can close it or leave it open. Some people like myself close it to get that grill smoke taste to there food but which ever way u do it its fine good luck
Followed the video and even have the same grill but my Temps won't go up above 150. There's smoke but the fire just dies down. I have the vents open, I have the lid closed. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here
Great video, I particularly enjoyed the guitarist
You're welcome. Everytime I watch this video I get a big grin on my face because I had no idea of what direction to take my channel. I love grilling and can eat pretty much any kind of meat on it. I'm glad it seems to always help someone as basic as it is.
Very helpful. Thank you sir!

I tried it step by step and now I'm looking like ghost Rider 🤣🤣🤣 jk
Nice one!😧
I use a chimney my coals always look grey not white and don't seem to last long. I think I'm going to try this method
Did it work?
@@Meanpooh 100%
That food look bomb!!!
Thanks man, for the life of me I could’t get the BBQ started until I saw this vid!
Glad I could help!
Do you keep the grill open the whole time the charcoal is ashing over?
Yes.
Meanpooh - Thank you!!!
No problem.
My girlfriend closed the lid but I’ll take charge next time and leave it open, I think my mistake was not having the charcoal together
Did everything come out ok?
Could have spread the charcoals once they are burning on their own.
That way the heat will be evenly spread and all of the meat on the top would have same much cooking time.
Thanks
Thank you!! Just did it!!
Congrats, don't forget to make sure your coals are gray before adding your selected food.
Thank you so much for this! - from a wife whose husband doesn’t believe in grills with buttons 😂
You’re welcome! I am also the same way. Propane is convenient but it’s no fun. Sitting out with friends downing a cold one while enjoying the aroma of briquettes and steak.
Do you move around the coals or touch them at all waiting for them to ash over?
No.
Big help.. Thanks so much
You're welcome and have a safe and tasty barbecuing day!
So simple! Thanks!
You bet!
@@Meanpooh always cracked me up how people still watching your video 4 years later its like a fine aged wine meme or something.
So much meme potential

What the Hell RUclips recommend me This Meanpooh 😂 love you bro ❤️😄
My dude, I made this a while ago when I was just messing around. Wasn't even thinking of Gaming at the time. 😂 Love you too my friend!
How did you put the crates on. Why didn't you show that?
It helped me and my slightly slow roommates, THANKS!!!
Good work, glad it helped you and your roommates out.👍🏽
I never worked a grill in my life but watching my dad he always got the old ashes out of the bottom.. Will it hurt to leave them in there?? He also let the fire burn the rack then scrape it with a wire brush.. Do you have to do that or no?
Removing the ashes help with airflow to coals. It also keeps the ashes from getting on your food if a gust of wind comes along. Burning the rack sometimes makes it easier to get food off that is stuck.

@@Meanpooh Thanks so much.. I'm pretty lost when it comes to grilling..😂😂
Thanks great video

Thanks for the help.
Now I can cook my friend Garett’s mom a nice meal before we go to bed.
You're welcome. Make sure to have a hose just incase things get out of control. If you have a lid on your grill and things go south, just shut it and close all your vents. That should starve the flame without the need of water.
Garrett is gonna be pissed
Like your accent. Your video ended up making me hungry! Guess we’re grilling tomorrow 😎
Wow...I kept adding lighter fluid bc I thought there had to be actual fire 🤦🏻♀️ thanks for the instructions!
Yep, it's still going although you can't see it. Hope all goes well.
Thank you! I’ve been marinating some ribeyes and want to do the entire meal myself.
You are welcome. Just take your time and you should be alright. Make sure to let the coals burn off the fluid for a nice tasting meal.
So while the charcols burning does it matter if the lid up or down? Been wanting to learn to grill for my friends since none know how.
Leave the lid open. Once you start, you'll try to cook a lot of your favorite foods on the grill👍.
@@Meanpooh Thanks.
@@Anuca You're welcome!
@@Meanpooh Oh, with the grates, when exactly do you put them back on. I'd assume I'm not supposed to use my hands when putting them over the fire either haha.
@@Anuca You can put them on after you start the fire or if the flames are high you can let the fire burn down before you replace them. Use a pair of gloves as the heat from the coals is very hot.
Do you close the grill while the charcoals turn white?
Sometimes but mostly not.
Wow this guy games and grills.
Coolness meter exploded
😉👍
Thank you dad
Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
What can you use if you don't have any lighter fluid?
Paper but it's kind of messy.
Can I use any kind of alcohol for the charcoal?
I would only use charcoal lighter fluid or if you don’t have any, use a torch. There are also starter cubes. If you prefer not to use those method,s try the chimney starter. I have a link in the top right.
Can u start it with just a hand lighter? Do u absolutely need fluid?
Yes, you can it just takes longer or you can use the method in the top right corner.
ruclips.net/video/YhGvGooFN8w/видео.html
He mentioned at the end to keep a eye on the temp...anyone know what it should be
Around 350 to 400 is a good temp. Just watch the flames.
@@Meanpooh On the laptops to with thermal paste 😂
What if your grill has no thermometer?
Thank you brother
Any time
Hey meanpooh congratulations this is your most popular video!
It is summer now and everyone is going out and having BBQs in their garden.
Yep, this is before I even thought of a gaming channel. If I ever quit, I'll be doing How To's with Appliances, Cars, etc.
wow! what's your graphics settings?
Real Reality.....on this one.🤣
Do you need more charcoal
For a bigger grill?
Depends on how much food you are cooking. Hotdogs and hamburgers dont require many coals and cook pretty quick. Steaks and ribs on the other hand will require more because of the time it takes to cook.
Ok thanks for the advice
No problem. Don't forget to spread them out. There are also different methods of cooking such as having all the coals to the left or right side of the grill. You will then place your food on the opposite or not directly on top of the coals. I do this sometimes with my chicken or ribs.
Should vent be open or closed
Vents should be open. You can use them to control temperature by adjusting the amount of airflow going in.
Thank u so much
You are welcome!
I just learned A LOTT
Never too much fire accelerant for your food folks. I start my charcoal with the small green coleman propane tanks.hardly take much longer and your food tastes like how its suppised to
Can you explain a bit more how you use the propane tank, hand held? I'd say..... to start charcoal on a grill? Thanks!
@@RebekahOMalley777 light the small propane torch, hold it on a corner at the bottom of your pile until it gets a little smoky, move around in a triangular pattern hitting 2 more corners and do the same. Let it start to get a little hot and kind of flatten out your pile a little bit. I throw my food on when there is just a little bit of the top of the pile that is still black and has not yet burnt so you have an already going steady hot heat and a little bit more charcoal to go to prolong that heat to carry you through cooking your food
Thank you
Welcome!
