I hate all the studies that have the omnivorous diet represent meat consumption. Were other confounders considered? Obviously alcohol, but what other lifestyle issues, like exercise? Makes sense that the flexitarian diet would look the most healthy here. As always the "meat eating" omnivores are eating their meat in the form of pizza, fast food, subs, etc. The flexitarians are probably the most health savvy of the 3. They are eating whole foods and adding in animal products therefore taking a vegan diet and making it healthier with the addition of meat. We need a study of health conscious keto dieters. The flip of the flexitarian. Mostly animal products with some whole plant foods.

I am not sure how I could do things like intermittent fasting and many other dietary things people do. I am 77 years old, run 3,000 miles per year in the Mojave desert, even at 120 degrees in the summer. I eat about 40,000 calories per month past suggested amounts to fuel all the running. I can’t cram all those calories into a limited time. I eat a generally healthy diet and minimize processed foods (I do have ice cream a few times per week). Resting heart rate in the morning is 36-38. Only been sick twice in the last 50 years (felt like staying in bed or missed work time). I take a lot of supplements in what would be considered high amounts. I feel like and have the energy of a 30 year old.
I eat a varied diet but only a small amount of red meat, just had a filet mignon, first in many years. Meat loaf once every month or so (50% oatmeal). To fuel me with filet mignon would take ten or more of them every day!!!! I would go broke and be very constipated.
Typical breakfast: 12 oz plain Greek yogurt, cup and a half of fresh blueberries/black berries, tablespoon or two each of flax oil and coconut derived MCT oil, banana, cup of orange juice, chia seeds, 5g creatine monohydrate, tri-methyl glycine, inulin, and about 50 capsules of supplements the amount and mix carefully developed over the last 50 years. I have no diseases or pains of old age and have seemingly unlimited energy.

You're what's known as an outlier my friend... and 40k "calories" is only around 1300 per day if the month has 30 days. Doesn't seem like much. Concerning costs for ruminant-only carnivore, I eat 3lbs of chuck (whole cuts) per day for less than $20. If I were to do ground beef it would be less than $15 per day. Many are able to get by at around 2lbs per day which can be had for about $10 or even less if you do some sleuthing for deals.

I will never take any study seriously when it is short. We need more long term studies.. especially diets like keto or carnivore will always show bad results short term, cuz most people just never eat like that these days, and the switch alone is like a month to be fully-ish adapted. Also, dont like the studies that involve " insert any diet here vs vegan" .. cuz i feel like in short term vegan will pretty much always win, but most vegans start to suffer mental issues and other issues after a long time on a vegan diet.

All the studies are highly suspicious. Who paid for it? Always follow the money. We are omnivores like it or not. Now some people do better on more veggies than others but I’ve never known a vegetarian that wasn’t a pencil neck geek eventually. I lean more towards carnivore, but I still eat vegetables sometimes, but no starches or sugar or seed oils. 180 pounds later and all my health markers are excellent.

Go vegan for your health, whole food plant based.
Go vegan for the animals. Go vegan for the planet. Go vegan and be healthier and happier.
A lower risk of heart disease and cancer for you and a better planet for everyone, human and animals.
Eating healthy is not a diet it is a healthy life style.
Go out and look around. The vast majority of people you see are obese or al least over weight.
People do not need to be fat shamed BUT being over weight is not healthy and leads to a host of illnesses.
When you look around you can see all the unhealthy people without taking a blood test or a fitness test
"NORMAL" for the average American is "UNHEALTHY" The health of society is in decline.
