I wish they called it 2022.4 instead of 2023; it's more appropriate for the current year and since there weren't any major updates.

Yeah but when this new version was launched, Autodesk were in a new fiscal year for them. And the number denotes the fiscal year and when it ends. So Maya 2023 is in the Autodesk fiscal year that ends in the calendar year 2023.

ts like maya 2023 or whatever continues to not accept the future is parametric and offers seperate tools that do a part of the job not the whole job like houdini, till it faces that fact and builds a houdini type node editor with sweep mesh and booleans and filletted booleans panelling , full cad nurbs to poly, spline curves, and layered sculpt and layered paint, and remessh all in the same history stack with physics its just a piecemeal program that annoys the operator

It's hard to compare Houdini and Maya like for like features and importantly workflows. Both have strengths and weaknesses. Maya can do parametric workflows and with it's dependency graph, is heavily node based. Maya has always been this way. But Maya's usability wasn't meant for artists to go into the it's Hypergraph to actually do anything. Houdini was built from ground up to be a procedural system, both under the hood and its UI/UX.
